In the Dressing Room

Hello Friday and welcome to the latest edition of In the Dressing Room! Today, I’m trying on tons of cute things for Spring and sharing the fit, quality and styling tips. There were so many good things this time, so lots to share! Let’s get to it!

Keep in mind for size reference that I’m super petite- 5’1, 105 pounds. I put size info in purple italics for you. If you’re petite too, check out this post.

Tie Sleeve Sweatshirt XSP | Link Bracelet (Similar for Less) | Rings

How cute is this sweatshirt with peek through tie- sleeves?! I mean, seriously, put a bow on something and it instantly gets 10x cuter. Yes, please! The XSP fit, but I would prefer it a little looser in the chest, so I would just go with SP.

This top got me with the fringe and lace detail, it looks great with white jeans and also shorts. Be careful though if you have a large chest because the banding and pleats can amplify that.

I’ve got the most adorable photo bomber in these next two pics! She is all over the place and so busy! I can’t tell if she’s keeping me young or making me old quick!

Top XSP | Jeans (25) | Heels

I wanted to love this top because I’m crazy over the seercucker pattern and cold shoulder with ruffles but it was way too big in the middle even in XSP. Maybe XXSP would be better, but bottom line is size down. In this second picture I’m holding it in at the waist to give you an idea of how it would look if I would’ve gotten it altered.

The distressed white jeans are a recent favorite. You can see them styled here with a grey peplum top (and Perfect T-Shirt Bra & Undies) and here with my favorite striped bell sleeve top.

I headed to the Galleria to return a pair of shoes for my husband and got a chance to check out this leopard clutch I’ve been seeing online for only $44! I wanted to look at it in person and feel it before recommending it to you.

This beaded and tassel clutch sure is fun and definitely adds interest to your outfit!

I love it when I find a “one size” hat that actually fits pretty well! I always wear a hat or visor at the pool to shade my face from the sun, so this will be perfect with this swimsuit! You know I love these Skinny Cargo Pants! They are my go-to for running around when I want to be super comfy, more comfortable than jeans. But size down. I’m in 0P and got the waist taken in.

AoS Skinny Ankle Jeans (25)

I love my black skinny crop jeans by Articles of Society so much that I wanted to try more of their jeans. They are a budget friendly brand (this pair is $59), but still decent quality. These jeans are the kind that are very soft and comfy with lots of stretch and the rise is on the higher side, but not a high rise. My regular size 25 fit in these, but they will likely stretch out, so I would size down to a 24.

BLANKNYC Crop Skinny Jeans (25)
BLANKNYC is another good brand for jeans and this pair has a great little bit of distressing and rips with that fun, frayed hem. My normal size in this brand is 25, so I’d say they run TTS.

Cardigan XS

This 3/4 sleeve crewneck cardigan was a must-have when I worked in an office. It dresses up your outfit like a jacket, but is sweater soft. It comes in a ton of different colors and patterns and I have the black and white gingham one to show you next week. It’s meant to be worn open and also comes in petite- the XSP fits me best, but I’m wearing XS in this picture.

Top XSP | J Crew Lookout High Waist Crop Jeans (24)

If you only get one thing from today’s post, make it this twist front cozy fleece pullover! It’s soft as sweet little bunnies with 3/4 sleeves and a little faux tuck. When I put it on, I didn’t want to take it off! I’ll be wearing it with both jeans and shorts, and also around the house when it’s chilly inside and I’m not yet ready for pj’s but want to be just as cozy! It comes in 5 colors, so you might see me in another one soon. I’m wearing the XSP in this pic, but then tried on the SP to see how it compared because the arms in the XSP were just the tiniest bit snug. After trying them both on,

White Jeans– I’ve come to appreciate high waist jeans so much more lately and this is a pair I highly recommend. I sized down from my normal size 25 to a 24. I think if I would’ve tried on petite, the crop length would’ve been shorter and a more true crop, but I sometimes like cuffing jeans.

Well, here ya go, a crop jean that is really crop, but dang! they are actually too short! They are also too big on me, and I would’ve needed my regular 0P in this brand. I do love the color, quality and comfort of these jeans though.

Bell Sleeve Tunic XSP
This white cotton bell sleeve top is a winner – it’s one of the best ones I’ve seen for both fit and comfort. It would also look great tucked into a skirt and with a colored statement necklace. I also wanted the striped one! It’s really cute too!

Ruffle Sleeve Top XSP

If you like your clothes bunny rabbit soft like that fleece pullover I showed you above, you’ll love this cute ruffle sleeve top. It’s so so soft, but not fleece, just a thin, ultra comfortable top. Size down because this brand runs big. It comes in more colors too.

Okay, let’s move onto some dresses!

Midi Dress XS

Even though I didn’t care for this dress on me (too big and blousy), I wanted to show it to you because, if you are say, over 5’5, it might look great on you! It’s very easy to wear for under $70. Also, if you are busty, you might want to wear a tank or bandeaux top underneath. Definitely size down because it runs big.

Tank Midi Dress XS | Necklace | Ring
This dress was an instant YES for me, fitting perfectly in the top and being really slimming through the middle. And, #pockets! Of course, it’s 10 miles too long on me, so I took it to be altered and they cut 5 inches on the length.

Dress XS
I’m in love with all these crochet type dresses lately. This fit and flare midi is great because the straps are adjustable (I’m wearing my regular bra with it), and the wide waistband is really flattering. It also comes in white and black.

Dress 2P
How sweet is this white dress with the A-line cut and bell sleeve with tassels??!!

Tank & Shorts Set (XS)
This is actually a tank and shorts set, a fun alternative to the LBD. The shorts are pleated and not to short, but definitely need the top to complete the outfit.

Body-Con Dress (S)
This dress is va va voom with it’s body con shape and plunging bodice, but the high neck helps conceal. The material is nice and thick, so I felt all tucked in. It runs small, so I had to size up one to a Small.

Off Shoulder Dress (2P)
As y’all saw, this is the fun, vibrant pink dress I wore to the cocktail party at our girls’ weekend. I loved the classy neckline and skinny off shoulder sleeves. It’s a great value at under $100 too.

Tunic (XS)
I wish they would’ve had XXS in this one because it was super cute to take to the pool or on vacation. Size down unless you are really tall!

Racerback Tank XS | Jean Shorts need 24P | Necklace | Similar White Watch

I’m clearly obsessed with jean shorts and even though I already found a perfectly good distressed pair with a boyfriend fit, I was immediately drawn to this distressed cutoff pair. You see, they really are different, because the pair I already own are cuffed and these aren’t. So, yes, very different! I would have bought these but they were too big in size 25/0. I just ordered 24P and I’ll let you know how they work out!

Aren’t those shorts so perfect with this embroidered top?! It’s hard to tell from my pic, but the top has cute flutter sleeves. I’m wearing XXSP, but wanted the XSP

Jean Skirt

If you liked the jean skirt I styled 4 ways but it was too short for you, this is a great alternative because it’s longer and it comes in regular and petite.

Marisa Skinny Cropped Chinos 00P

These crop pants are DARLING and come in 12 pretty colors to add a pop of color to your wardrobe. They were comfortable and the crop length was just right on me. The only downside was that the pockets were sticking out a tad and were too low, so I knew I’d have to get that altered. I like to get pockets like that cut and the side hemmed closed so they don’t bow out. I’m still considering ordering these online because they would be a great weekend running around pair of pants.

Essential Skinny Ankle Pants- Marisa Fit 0P, but need 00P | Linen Cotton Collarless Blazer 0P
If you need a great basic black comfortable pant for work #whodoesn’t?!, try these! I needed to size down, but other than that, they are a perfect black pant to wear to work or for when you want to be more dressed up.

Loft actually has a decent selection of work appropriate jackets and blazers. I really like this single button blazer that comes in both white and black and is on sale for $89.99 plus and additional 40% off.

Cropped Ribbed Cardigan XSP
This open sweater cardi is super cute on and has a split sleeve detail that is adorable!

Jumpsuit XXSP

I was alllllll the heart eyes for this striped apron jumpsuit. I mean, it’s to good and different and you can wear a regular bra with it without anything underneath. It’s got elastic gathering at the waist to create an hourglass shape for you and wider crop legs. The only problem is that I’m long waisted and it was oh so inconveniently going up my rear! So, I tried on the next side up, XSP and it was too big! I’m crying big fat tears on this one and beg you, if you aren’t long waisted, to get it and let me live vicariously through you!

Chambray Dress XSP 40% off
I thought this little denim dress was fun for running around in, but I wasn’t dying over it. The tassels and ruffle sleeve are a fun addition though.

Paisley Dress XXSP 40% off

I did like this sweet little paisley dress. The colors are unique and playful for Spring.

Floral Shorts | Tan Shorts
They didn’t have these shorts in petite in the store, so I’m going to try ordering 00P and 0P and see which fit best. Aren’t the floral ones cute?! And the tan are a great basic! I like the tie waist too, but you need to tuck in your top with them or remove the belt to wear your shirt untucked to avoid a big bump. They also have this adorable side-tie pair I want to try!

Last but not least, I wanted to try a few petite sizes at Banana Republic, but only had time to try on a few things and I’m only showing two because I’m still figuring out my perfect size there. They do have great workwear and lots of stylish things right now!

Dress 0P
I liked the fit and feel of this black and white striped fit and flare dress. It’s definitely work appropriate and would look great with a fun necklace.

Dress XSP
This floral tie-neck maxi was so pretty on the hanger, but I was on the fence about it on me. If it fit you well, it would be so stunning to wear to a party with your hair up to show off the shoulders.

And really the last, last thing!

I just finished putting a post up with some style looks from the Loft sale. I haven't been in store for a bit, and I'm struggling ordering dresses online because I am long waisted as well. I never know where they are going to hit me. I think I'm going grab that paisley dress for Mother's Day.
