Hello friends and happy Friday! A bunch of mom friends from my son’s school are having a spa day today and I’m so looking forward to it! I think the last massage I got was when Courtney visited last Spring, but it’s a great way to relax and destress. I bet most of us don’t get regular massages, but they are such a treat! I’m gonna make sure to workout early Friday morning so I feel like I’ve really earned that massage! 😉
Today is the first Dressing Room post of the year and it’s a good one! If you’re new here, I usually post these every few weeks on Friday. When shopping online (because who has time to go to the store?!) it’s hard to tell how something fits and feels. “Will that look good on me? Do I need to size up? It is scratchy?” My goal is to take the guesswork out of shopping by inviting you into my Dressing Room where I honestly share the real-deal fit and review. And to help get you started, I scour the stores to find the cute and comfy new styles you’ll be curious about and show you how to wear them.
For size reference, I’m super petite, 5’1, 105, 34D. I usually wear 0P or 25 in jeans and XS or 0P tops.
First up, let’s talk jeans! I’m super excited to share not one, but three pair of quality, budget-friendly jeans this week!
#1 High Waist Skinny Jeans • High waist jeans for the win! #twokids The high waist on these jeans isn’t SO high that it’s uncomfortable, but just high enough to hold you in and make you feel secure. They have a good bit of stretch and a nice wash, fitting TTS, but you could probably size down if you’re in between sizes. I ordered my regular size 25 and they fit fine- they are supposed to be crop, but on 5’1 me, they are all the way to my ankles. But I like to cuff mine at the ankle anyway. And they’re a deal at under $65!
#2 Modern Skinny Jeans • This mid rise jean is soft with a good amount of stretch, and streamlined flattering fit. My true size fit me in all the right places without any gaping at the waist. I like a dark wash like this and the distressing and rips are not overdone. They are 40% off too!
#3 Release Hem Skinny Jeans • You need these jeans in your life! I have these in the darker color (which is currently only available in petite sizes) but the lighter color is only available in regular length. They are the most comparable to my AG skinny jeans (33% off) based on the fabric and stretch. The dark wash and subtle whiskering and the release hem are spot on. They are SO freaking comfortable! The material is the thicker, high quality you don’t find in the less expensive juniors jeans that we like to purchase when we’re on a budget ;). These are $99, so they aren’t outrageous.
And now onto some tops! This is the tunic you saw in the Winter Skirts post with the plaid skirt. The black top is one of my current faves and it comes in five different colors. It’s thin, so it’s not bulky, but thick enough to be warm. It’s easy to tuck in, but would look cute with some jeans or skinny cargos! This same brand makes one of my fave short sleeve tees as well! Mine is an XXS, so I’d say it runs true to size.
This is a FABULOUS skirt. It’s a cute, A-Line mini skirt made of thick corduroy and would be a great addition to your winter skirt collection. The color is nice – one of those “new neutral” blush colors. You could wear it with tights or boots. I put it with the tucked in tunic and I’m loving this together. With all the fall colors available in the tunic, I would say ANY of them would work with this skirt.
I am “cardigan crazy” at the moment. The shape of this one is a little more unique and it has pockets!! It’s not just a solid knit, it’s got a little more of a wider stitch which I think ups the “cozy factor” – which is super important when deciding what goes into my closet!! The color is warm, it’s under $50 and it layers well over a tank. The tank I have on is great, but coming in and out of sizes! This one is a similar v-neck which I value in a tank!
The Drapey sleeve keeps selling out too! #itsthatgood This Rib Knit Cardigan looks similar if you’re looking to add a new cardigan to your closet.
This sweater is a little bit short and a little swingy – so it’s loose. The color is beautiful in person – I think I’d pair it with my cognac booties. The cable knit sleeves are a little long on me, but overall this is a great fit and a nice, soft choice in a sweater.
I chose this sweater for the pretty light blue color and fun balloon sleeves. It’s not as soft as I’d hoped it would be. But at $45, I’d still consider this a good deal!
These jeans are more of a thin jegging. If you’re looking for something budget friendly with some distressing and rips, these would be a good option. They have quite a bit of stretch, so you might want to size down one. I got an XS in this sweater, I could have gone with an XXS. It’s amazingly soft and cozy. And I feel as warm as I look in it. Three Colors of this sweater are 40% Off!!
This sweater is a thick, cable knit so it will definitely keep you warm. The color is bright and fun – much brighter than it appears online (in a good way). The fuller, blouson sleeve gives it that little something different, which I love. The mock neck also ups the warm factor. It comes in 9 different colors!
If you are all about cold shoulders and stripes, then this shirt is for you! It immediately caught my eye on the hanger and also comes in black as well as this dark grey. It’s on the thinner, lightweight side and the contrasting stripes at the shoulder, sleeves and waist are super cute! It’s 40% off!
Stripe Top XS
If they had had to stop in petite XS, I would’ve taken it home for sure! It’s supersoft goodness with a banded hem and will look great dressed up for work or worn casually with jeans. It’s 40% off!
I have to tell you that I have not stepped foot inside and Abercrombie & Fitch in years! All I remember of that store was cologne that knocked you in the face when you entered, and huge black and white posters of hot young guys, most of which could be my son! But, hey, Abercrombie happens to be right next-door to the Disney store so #momlife! They’re running a sale this weekend: Get 15% Off $50, 20% Off $75, 25% Off $100.
Anyways, I was happily surprised with a few things in their store like this adorable cami and cardigan combo! I found the things in their store to run on the small side, which is a plus for somebody that’s petite!
This crop camo pullover would be cute for running around on the weekend and even with jean shorts when it warms up!
One of my favorite things I saw were these plaid button up shirts! They are the perfect slouchy, slightly worn in style that look effortlessly chic all year round! They come in multiple styles and colors, all of which were super cute!
Back in the land of grownups, I was instantly drawn to this grey long sleeve top, being so super soft! It seems like I can never have enough of these and I wear them lounging around the house and out on casual occasions. Also 40% off!
Camo pants were very cool too. They are skinny style and comfortable on. You can pretty much treat camo as a neutral and pair all colors of the rainbow on top. 40% off!
Don’t you love it when a simple detail like these sleeves make a top a little bit special?! I was very fond of this one and thought it would be also pretty tucked into a skirt and worn with a statement necklace. 40% off!

I’m on a camo kick here with this camo style Jean jacket. I thought it was really cute and a nice pop of pattern to add to an otherwise solid colored outfit. I love mixing stripes too, so a striped top would be really cute with this as well. 40% off!
These pants called me from across the store. I remember working in an office and always feeling like I wore the same pants over and over so I loved it when I found a great new pair! I like the fit and style of these pinstripe pants, but I think that would be even better if they were high waist! 40% off!
The green blouse is a classic style that looks polished for work or church, but isn’t at all stuffy or uncomfortable. 40% off!
Winter white sweater is always a good idea! This one has a nice texture and I would love to wear it with jeans and boots. 40% off!
I obviously adore the black and white stripes and the ruffle sleeves on this dress. I would need to take it in a little so as not to feel quite so frumpy, but otherwise it’s a great, flattering, #eatallthedessert kind of dress! If you’re between sizes, I would size down for sure! The length is perfect (I went with an XSP) and the fabric quality is great.
This dress is a nice, maroon color with perfectly flirty ruffles. It fits me, but I’d say it runs a little small. I don’t mind it being low-cut (and would require a lace bralette or low cut bra-). It’s a good price too, just $55.
Ok, this one was a little tricky at first sight. I may have put it on like a shirt… whoops! I’m posting it and sharing it with y’all because it is SOOOO cute! I love the snap, the tie waist and just a cool, casual look about it. However, the sleeves on this XS are just a little too tight on my arms. There’s no elastic, they button close and it’s just a little too uncomfortable. Perhaps if you need a bigger size, the sleeves will be more proportionate. This is going in the return pile and I’m really quite broken up about it because I love it.
This dress is a beautiful crochet dress and might be perfect for Valentine’s Day dinner! It’s over $100, but the quality shows. It’s lined and just absolutely gorgeous in person! I love how the lace overlays the hem at the bottom and there’s a hint of some skin showing which is a nice touch for a romantic date night (Valentines Day, perhaps). It’s actually quite comfortable and you can wear a bra with it! The back is super cute too!
This red is really striking in person. It’s listed as a mini-dress, but it hits me just at the knee which is nice. It’s kind of a silk material with a little bell sleeve. It’s swingy and comfy and would also be a great Valentine’s dress – even in the black and olive options!
Ooh! Check out these new colors and styles of high heels! This brand is one of my favorites for shoes because they are always type quality, comfortable and last forever! This pointy toe stiletto heel will give you killer legs for days!
Have a great weekend friends!!
