My Home Office

Today is kinda like the grown-up equivalent of Christmas morning, with the excitement level off the charts because I finally get to share with y’all my home office makeover reveal!  As I sit in my new office chair drafting this post, it’s all I can do to stay focused, because I’m still soaking in all the goodness in this gorgeous room!  I’m beyond thrilled with how it turned out and the sophisticated and feminine feel I was originally after was certainly achieved. I couldn’t have done it without my talented friend and designer Sita Montgomery.  She’s been a true friend and fantastic sounding board and I’m proud to have collaborated with her on this room.
With this room, more than any other in my home, I wish I could invite you over in person because it truly feels so luxurious and beautiful.  Even though the photos turned out very well, it’s just not the same as stepping foot inside! So, pretend you’re here and come on in!

If you remember my office before the transformation, it was a mix of black and white with bright pops of pink and other colors.  The look was playful, but I really wanted a more adult, sophisticated and feminine space. I’m so thankful to have a room all to myself to work, blog, create, wrap presents, etc.  I’m pinching myself that this is my office!
We started with this soothing color palette of blush pink, black, gold and soft greenish-olive.  The abstract art over my desk set the tone for the space and everything else compliments it.

It’s great when you can work existing pieces into a room makeover, and here, I kept the desk I’ve had for 6 years and the round table that I like to spread out on when I’m working on a project or just need additional room.

I’ve been dying to get in here and actually start using this room, but I didn’t want to mess it up before I took pictures!  I love how well this stylish new chair fits me.  From now on, you can picture me right here with my cup of coffee, blogging away everyday.  “Mama’s in her office and she’s never coming out!”

That’s James in that pic!  Looks just like Jordan, right?!
I work on a Mac, and love having a larger monitor, but it does obscure the amazing art.  I originally ordered the art with a matte brass frame, but it was backordered, so I went with the next closest option, “champagne”, and it ended up being very pretty.  I found a new gold desk lamp that fits the room perfectly, along with the fun coasters.  I had wanted this lamp, but couldn’t get it in time. Turns out, the one I ended up with works just fine at less than half the cost!

Speaking of gold, let’s talk about the light fixture.  As soon as I opened it from the box, I knew it was gonna be a stunner.  It reminds me of a flirty peacock, spreading her wings and it’s a unique focal point in the room.  The chains come longer, so you can fit it to spec, I have mine hanging down about 20 inches from the 8-foot ceilings, but it doesn’t feel too low since the sides slope up.

On either side of the desk are a pair of brass and glass etageres.  Styling these babies gave me a run for my money because each shelf is so tall and there are no sides to lean anything against.  After multiple attempts moving and rearranging things, I found combo that finally worked.  I’m sure I’ll be messing with it in the future since musical decor is a game that gets played often here.

The rug was one of the first things to arrive and it really grounds everything.  It’s super soft and the black and grey leans in a silvery-green direction. It is so pretty in person and rugs are hard to judge online!

Having this little white bench under the window fills the space and provided a place to bring in softness and color with the pillows.  I’m crazy for the quality and luxuriousness of Arianna Belle’s pillows.  I’ve never had such fancy pillows in my home, but I definitely recognize the difference now.
The drapes are hung from a stunning, custom cut lucite and brass drapery rod and LuxHoldups was great to work with.  Because my rod length was so long, they made two rods and provided extra support brackets to ensure the rod would stay in place and not bow.  It’s the best kind of jewelry for a room!

Because the etageres are open shelving, they are more decorative in nature and I wanted something that would be functional as additional hidden storage.  This white and gold chest was a great size and the two drawers are nice and deep.

We originally planned to go with a black chest and gold mirror, but that combo didn’t end up working out, so this black mirror ended up being the chosen one.
I had fun styling the top of the chest and started with the two decorative canisters that I’d been eyeing since I first saw them in the catalog. I’m happy to have found them a good home after lusting over them for so long!  I did my best to practice restraint in decorating this surface.  I like the white, gold and black combo with a live ferm to bring in that organic touch of nature. I would have liked to have found a better planter, but I ran out of time!  The simplicity of this one works.

Since we kept the walls white, I knew I wanted to paint the trim and Farrow & Ball’s Lichen in high gloss worked perfectly!  To say I love how it turned out would be an understatement.   I love the color so much that I contemplated painting the doors also, but ultimately decided that keeping the three doors white allows the trim to really pop and be the star.  You can read more about the paint here.
And how fun are the decorative wall vases?!  I currently have faux succulents in them, but can easily change them out when I’m ready for something different.
Unfortunately, the beautiful chairs I ordered from High Fashion Home haven’t yet arrived, but I’ll be sure to update you and show you when they do!

Minted artists never disappoint with their beautiful art.  These pieces are stunning in the room and go so well together.  I’ve always loved palm tree art since it reminds me of the couple summers I spent in Hawaii with my grandma as a young girl.  Art is so much more meaningful when it speaks to you in that way.

Well, friends, that’s a wrap!  These last 6 weeks flew by!  I’m pooped and need a two-week vacation after this!  I still can’t believe we pulled this challenge off with this little sweetie pie taking up most of my time these days!  She still wakes up in the night to eat and I’m tiiiiiiired!  It’s actually 10:49 p.m. right now as I’m finishing this post and I can’t wait to get to bed! #butfirstcereal #howtireddoIlook?!

  16. Did you purchase the green or charcoal version of the Mesmerizing artwork on Minted. I am guessing you picked the green because from their website the charcoal version doesn't appear to have pink in it. I am just interested in that print and not sure which to purchase.
