Outdoor Rugs & Patio Decor

Hi friend! Welcome to a fresh, new week! We’re getting this.close to having our backyard makeover done! The pool is done, the patio is complete and the turf has been installed. We got a new replacement holly tree for the one I had to remove, the fence is back up, and the only thing left to do is complete the landscaping!

We can’t heat the pool for a couple more weeks, but that hasn’t stopped my daughter from swimming!

I’ve been on the hunt for patio furniture, doing lots of research and looking everywhere. Since it’s a big purchase, I want to get it right!

Patio Decor

At first I was thinking of of natural toned wooden furniture for the patio and really like the look of this set I saw on Wayfair. You get the loveseat, two chairs and coffee table for just over $700.

Outdoor plants, rugs, and accent pillows really bring the space together. You can easily make a collage like this on Canva or Picmonkey to get an idea of how things will go together.

And this rattan set up with the two chairs and side table is only $455 on sale at Target. I’ve always been drawn to blue and like it for indoor and outdoor decor.

I have that larger white planter, so I’ve also been thinking about the plants we could plant outside. Very excited about this!!

Outdoor Rugs

Sooo many outdoor rugs to choose from! Everything from neutral to colorful in patterned or solids.

I ended up choosing this natural rug and really like it! It’s got texture and feels great underfoot.

Elliott had the idea to move the front patio chairs to the back patio so we could see how they look in the space and also see how the black iron looks. I really like it!

So now, we’re looking at black furniture instead of wooden. I think it will tie in with our black house accents and the black fence.

I’m hoping to find a black sofa, two chairs, then add in a side table and probably a coffee table.

The little succulents I got from Amazon – they come packaged very well and are actually alive. I potted them in this cute Walmart planter.

I can’t wait to show you everything when it’s all finished! If you’re curious about our pool build process, this post has all the details.

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!

  1. Nice, I’m looking for something to change in my patio for the next summer and all your pics are really good inspiration!!!

  2. I have that same planter also with succulents. It is great for that. I do think wood-look furniture might be a better choice and then add in some black accents to tie it all together. You already have alot of black going on already and it falls a little flat with the black chairs. The wood would add warmth. But the black and the wood are both neutral so you can probably balance it all either way in the end.

  3. LOVE the black furniture! So classy! So excited to see the final result! I live in MI so my pool season is short and it doesn’t look cute in the winter but it is definitely something we look forward to every year! You won’t regret this purchase!

  4. We put in a pool last summer and ended up doing all black furniture from Pottery Barn. Our very first outdoor dining set was black and it lasted for years thanks to an annual paint refresh. I love the look of wood but I find it’s so hard to maintain. I can’t wait to see your end result!

    1. I JUST ordered black furniture from Pottery Barn too! I wonder if we got the same set! Mine won’t arrive into mid – late March but I’ll share asap!
