Hi friends! Y’all have no idea how happy I am that we made it to Friday!! That Project OneWay fashion show was looming over my head and it was such a fantastic relief to enter the weekend having it over with and successful!! The event was last night and I was all nerves beforehand, but the audience was amazing and it went so well and ended up being super fun! Of course, I’m exhausted today, but it was worth it! I’ve been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone with these types of speaking events, because I actually do enjoy them once I get going! I hope you have some fun things on the agenda for this weekend! I think we’ll be going to the pumpkin patch if the rain stays away.
Today, I’ve rounded up a ton of my Outfits Lately and hope they give you some inspiration for your Fall wardrobe! Houston is slow to get the Fall memo, so these outfits are a mix of “transitioning to Fall” and actual Fall with some sunshine and rain in there!
For fit reference, keep in mind I’m super short, just 5’1, about 105 pounds. I often wear petite or size down for the best fit for my frame, but I’m also busty (34D) with ‘athletic’ i.e. big legs, so that can be a challenging combo.
We actually had glorious weather in NYC for the Better Homes & Gardens event, so it was awesome to throw on a striped pullover and lightweight scarf. One thing is for sure, you need these cushiony slip on sneakers if you’re planning on doing any amount of prolonged walking because they feel amazing on. We walked for hours and my feet were happy, happy at the end of it without any aches or blisters at all! And they’re cute too!
Like I mentioned, at home, we are still getting away with tank tops on some days. I love the peplum style of this one so much, I have it in two color patterns! But, we still want to dress for Fall, so booties made it feel that way! My favorite crossbody bag is on sale 40% off! The black sells out super fast, but the Tumbleweed color is also super cute. It’s the perfect size for holding all of your essentials, and even unzips to expand a little without being too bulky. Grab it before it sells out again!
You saw this everyday long sleeve top in my Mix & Match Fall Basics post. The little ruffled peplum bottom gives it a special detail that is pretty adorable. I find this brand runs big, but luckily they come in petite. It comes in 6 colors and also stripes! But if you get a solid color, you can add a punch of interest with a patterned scarf.
When I was in New Orleans, I saw these fun split-leg jeans and had to try them. They are surprisingly comfortable and fit great when I sized down one. I also love a button-fly jean, so these check that box too. I must be on a peplum kick lately, because this hook and eye tank is peplum style too- and only $28!
This versatile shirt-dress has been in heavy rotation over here. I love it so much I created two whole posts with 5 ways to style it (here and here). It comes in a tone of pretty Fall colors and now a gorgeous true red too. ♥ I’m thinking ahead to Christmas with that one! It’s come in and out of stock a bunch, so if you don’t see your size at first, check back!
Here’s the black version of the dress with the same scarf you saw in the first photo with the jeans and pullover. I’m always mixing and matching scarves with different outfits to create new looks.
This time of year, my military vest gets lots of attention because it’s that goldilocks piece- not too hot and not too cold- but just right for our current temps. I’m especially fond of this one for the quality, zipper and pocket details, and cinched waist. And of course the must-have fall basic striped top!
But you know, all we really want to wear is cozy cardigans! These next two are so ultra soft and cozy, you’ll never want to take them off! This yellow one has slight balloon sleeves, but small cuffs, so you won’t worry about your sleeves getting in your food.
Wearing a cardigan over your dress is another way to extend the life of your summer dresses. You guys know I’m a huge fan of this ‘magic dress’ because the side ruching is so flattering on all body types, even pregnant mamas! I wore it while I was pregnant with Jordan and felt amazing in it! The little criss cross front is artfully placed so that your legs look long and lean. Balanced against the higher neckline, the dress won’t make you feel too exposed. It comes in a million colors, and is only $56!
I’ve extended the life of this striped, ruffled sleeve top into our mild Fall – remember how well it went with those green cargo pants (also on sale, they are practically giving them away now!) The top is now on sale + and extra 40% off!
A flowy and perfectly drapey tunic like below is your BFF because it’s super stylish, but also non form-fitting and very figure flattering. And guess what? This one wrinkles waaay less than this popular tunic. It comes in black (just ordered!), light grey, and white also for only $39! You can wear it untucked or tucked.
I haven’t actually worn this next outfit out of the house yet, but I can’t wait to! I love the mix of bold pink and black together. The skirt has been marked down and also comes in navy. Even though the hot pink reads summery in color, it’s a heavier knit fabric, so perfectly appropriate for Fall and Winter.
Here’s that yellow cardigan in action again with jeans on a super sunny, but chilly day. I really like these dark wash ripped jeans too and they are a great price, under $90. I’ve since cut the length to fit my shorty legs more and they look even better now.
I looked a whole lot better going out of town than I did heading back in, but I was ultra comfortable both ways! I used my eBags and new Rose Gold Luggage and traveling has never been easier! It helped me stay organized the entire trip. You can read my packing tips here!
The trip to NYC was a whirlwind, but I’m so glad I got to go! I felt all snazzy in this tweed shorts romper that I can’t wait to wear again! It will be super cute with your faux leather jacket (under $100, size up!) too since it has that faux leather piping in it!
I wore this bright pink dress to the evening cocktail party and definitely stood out in a sea of black dresses. It’s also incredibly comfortable and flattering with the fit and flare silhouette.
And for Hello, Dolly! I traded my dress for a jumpsuit. You can’t see the detail on the waist and sleeves, but it’s actually so, so cute in person and I’m always crazy for a well-fitting jumpsuit! This one fit perfectly on top in 2P (so actually runs a little small), but was a little too big in the waist and through the legs so I had some minor alterations made. I’m crazy for the shape of it though.
Back home, we’ve had our fair share of rainy days, but the good news is rain showers make for fun mud puddles!
You guys know I saved some money and bought myself the kids’ version of Hunter boots (see my detailed review here). But I’m so glad I invested in them! There are more opportunities to wear them than I realized- they are also perfect for muddy ball fields after the rain!
Below was the first time I took my cozy cardigan out of the house, (normally I wear it at home & over pajamas), but turns out it dresses up really well! ?Wore it with my little $56 magic tank dress and booties! ? I love this look and the cardigan looks so good outside, I’ll be taking it out more often!
But, of course still wearing it at home with PJs. In fact, I’m wearing this very thing right now as I type this! 😉
And since it’s almost Halloween, I’m throwing in these two cute tees for those of you that want to be festive, but don’t want to wear a costume.
Have a great weekend!! I’ll be doing some online shopping this weekend, there are so many amazing sales happening!
