“Did you get a new lamp?”

I’ve had to laugh because the last few times my sister-in-law has been over, she’s asked, “Did you get a new lamp?”  I guess I change lamps about as often as I get my hair highlighted!  But since Home Goods sells lamps for about $40, it’s hard not to indulge in a pair every so often.  But I REALLY like my new ones, so they may be here awhile.

We started with this lamp from Pottery Barn, but the glass lamp shade broke and I haven’t been able to find a replacement.

So I replaced it with a light blue/aqua bubble-shaped lamp.

Then, after the drapes were hung and new pillows (Ikat from Crate & Barrel) were added, I swapped the blue lamps for silver, but wasn’t crazy about the shape and they were too lightweight and I was afraid James would knock them off the table.

Enter new lamps!  Love the curves and how sturdy it is.  Also, the tan linen lampshade goes well with the drapes.
My new lamp reminds me of this one from Pottery Barn, which is $200, just for the base!
Do you find yourself switching out things like lamps and pillows too?

I'm a big fan of those new lamps. I love the old aqua bubble lamp too-I hope you found a new home for it! I can't wait to pull my living room together a bit more so I can go pick some new lamps up at HG!

I tend to keep my lamps but I do switch out my pillows all the time. I have a bin full of pillow covers.

Love your new lamp! It reminds me of sea urchins.. (although I'm sure up close it may look nothing like that) but I associate everything with a sea creature 🙂

I, too, noticed the switch from the blue to the silver and wondered if you were going to post on it! I swap out, change or add new throw pillows all.the.time. It drives my husband crazy. He says, "So, what the other ones just went bad?" Glad I can show him it's not just me!

I'm obsessed with lamps and pillows! My husband always tries to steer me away from those sections when we're out shopping…he keeps threatening to clear out my lamp and pillow stashes 🙂

I actually thought the first picture was from the Pottery Barn catalog until you said it was your living room. I am still a fan of the blue bubble lamp, but I got a thing for blue. However, I admit that I am itching for new pillows — have new fabric from Dwell Studios that I am dreaming of turning into pillows.

First of all, I'm jealous that Home Goods resides in your neck of the woods. I have to settle for scouring Marshalls before it gets picked over…and second of all I really like your most newest new lamps (did that make sense?) Can't wait to turn my house into a home like you have! Xo -Jet

I find myself always in the lamp department at Home Goods, love that store! I was looking at lamps in other stores recently and I can't believe how expensive they have become, but I just love Home Goods lamps.

I move lamps around alot. But I do change pillows, or rather the covers, very often. I usually make them, & like to change them seasonally. It totally changes the look of the room.

  32. June 24, 2011 / 11:24 am

so funny I am always switching out pillows and lamps. It is such a cheap way to change a room up. I love the new lamps they really do look like those pottery barn ones!

  36. June 25, 2011 / 3:30 pm

Nice looking lamp. I don't change lamps very often, but I'm terrible about throw pillows. I'm always changing them just about every week. I store them away, and this way, I always have a new look for the rooms.

  37. June 26, 2011 / 1:10 am

Do you know that right now I have three lamps sitting under my entry table because I can't decide which one looks best! I'm glad I'm not the only one with these problems. Love all your lamp choices so far but the latest is my favourite!
