Mix & Match Style

What a week it’s been! I feel like a weight has been lifted ever since I published the Things Are Changing post. It’s both scary and freeing to be true to yourself and I’m so thankful that my sentiments resonated with you. I have more comments on that post than anything else in a very long time. That you took the time to share your thoughts means so much to me.

I skipped Tuesday Goodies this week, but plan to be back next week. Several of you messaged me to let me know you missed it. I always value your feedback, so please keep it coming!

I will be continuing my Amazon Livestreams. I really enjoy those and they are fun to film. I turn on my camera and go “live” on Amazon sharing outfits, beauty, home decor and deals on things I use and have in my home. It’s a cool thing because it’s live and I get to talk to you in real time via the chat feature. It’s also a way I can earn income online, while sharing more meaningful posts on my blog.

On Monday, I’ll be sharing My Sacred Morning Routine.

I also have some posts lined up about getting started with decluttering. You don’t have to declutter 500 things in one go like I did, but that’s one way to make a big impact fast.

Your Faves This Week

On Fridays, I will also continue to share your faves each week. I like seeing what you like!

Mix & Match Style

To change things up from a traditional fashion “haul”, I’m doing today’s post a little differently. I’m sharing several key pieces that you can mix and match to create multiple outfits. These are all from Loft and nearly everything is on sale.

For Size Reference: I’m a shorty (5’1) and petite, weighing about 110.  I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XS or XSP in tops and dresses.

White Embroidered Top

This top is so fresh for Spring and on into Summer. It’s on the dressy side with a collar, four functional buttons and a cute ruffle sleeve. It’s fully lined, so you don’t have to worry about it being see-through.

Of course, a white top easily goes with almost anything, from the navy/white gingham shorts, the white embroidered skirts for a monochromatic look and the black pants.

Chambray Henley Top

Similar in style to the white top above, this chambray top also has the collar, ruffled sleeves and multiple button front. It’s nice and soft with a shirttail hem. You can tuck it, wear it untucked or even belt it to help emphasize your waist.

You can also pair chambray easily with white jeans or even blue denim. I just usually keep the jeans a darker wash.

Striped Dolman Top

I really like this relaxed pinstripe top. It’s got a loose collar, button front, dolman sleeves and shirttail hem. You can wear it tied, tucked, untucked or open with a tank underneath. It would also look great with white jeans and tan sandals.

Puff Sleeve Sweater

This short sleeve sweater comes in this sunshine yellow, white and also green. It’s more vibrant than pictured on the website. The sleeves are puffed and it’s got a demure v-neck. I really like it with the gingham shorts.

Kick Crop Jeans

I’m crazy for these jeans! I actually bought these last month and really like how they fit. I prefer high waist jeans and I like how these are a crop length to show a little ankle.

Black Skinny Pants

Ooh, these high waist pants are really good at sculpting and smoothing, just beware: they run small! I got my true size 0P, but wish I would have sized up one. They do have stretch though, so once I got them on, they were comfortable. Lots of ways to style these and they are great for work to weekend.

Both of these skirts are fresh in white, with detailed embroidery and fully lined. They have an easy pull-on elastic waist without zips or buttons.

Dresses

I also ordered two dresses that caught my eye.

Black and white Tank Dress

DressSandalsBagBracelet

This halter style maxi dress feels so good on. It’s lightweight and stretchy and feels almost like pajamas. The white accent gives it a sporty vibe, so I could also see it being styled with cool sneakers and a hat. It’s racerback, so you’ll want to wear a racerback or strapless bra with it.

It also has a small side slit, so it’s easy to walk in.

Magenta Color Maxi Dress

This magenta dress is really pretty in person. It has lace detail at the bust, waist and skirt with a cool embroidered skirt and circle crochet hem. It also comes in black if this color isn’t for you.

Jumpsuit

Y’all know I love a good jumpsuit. This one is a linen blend with a petite scallop trim at the square neck. It has double front slash pockets and comes with the coordinating tie belt. You zip it up from the back and I like the midi length.

I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me lately. You’ve opened up more of who you are and I feel more connected to you than I have in a long time.

While this inner turmoil has been going on, I’ve been shying away from putting myself out there as much and it feels so much more authentic to open up in a real way in these last few weeks. I’m thankful that you have welcomed me with such open arms.

Have a fantastic weekend friend!

  2. These sorts of posts are SO helpful for me, especially with Loft basics like you chose because I already have similar styles. I really appreciate it, and look forward to the content shift you discussed yesterday. 34, two young children, full time working mom here who has followed you since the beginning. I have been in the minimalist camp many years now and IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE, for the better only and completely! We change, we grow, we evolve, and we must honor that! God has planted these desires in your heart for a reason. Kuddos to you for being courageous and following your heart!

  3. LOVE this idea! Showing how to style one piece is so helpful when shopping in a store or my closet. Also, love that you chose a store that is easily accessible. Being petite I really have to try on clothes to see the fit. If not I will live at the UPS store making exchanges which I hate. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas!

  4. I really enjoyed this post! I like to see basic pieces and how to style them differently for more ideas with my closet basics. I also like Loft and the simple look that you can continue to add and tweak for a variety. Please continue to show more of these posts! Minimalist vibes 🙂

  6. Love all these items, Megan! Especially that magenta dress, that’s my favorite color and such a gorgeous dress with all the detailing! I think this is a great way to combine fashion posts with minimalism. Shoppable (is that a word?) for those looking to buy new clothes, but for those that aren’t the mix and match outfits could serve as “shop your closet” outfit inspo. And thanks for featuring Loft, it’s one of my favorite mid range retailers!

  7. Hi Megan, I love these capsules wardrobe blogs. So many of your choices are appropriate for church with the addition of a jacket or sweater. Love the jumpsuit, but the zipper up the back would be hard for me. I go to the bathroom in a hurry.

  8. I agree with the other comments- this is an amazing change for your content! Please do more mix and match posts like this; I love how I can apply your great stying to my own closet!

  9. I love this post! I tend to wear the same outfit and not mix and match. I’m inspired to see what I can create in my own closet!
