What to Wear : Now & Later

Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.

In Houston, the heat always overstays its welcome and lingers on well into October.  We had a tiny cool front blow in last weekend and you would have thought we won the lottery! It made for a perfect outing to the pumpkin patch.  Then, yesterday, out of the blue, it started pouring and now we have several days of rain in the forecast!

Today, I’m sharing a go-to dark denim jean that works year round and two different outfits – one for wearing right now, and one for when it’s much cooler.  Fingers crossed for more of that soon!

Peplum Top •  I’m always a fan of a peplum style top because they are so flattering, drawing you in at the small part of your waist and then flaring out at the hips.  This top has the added touch of a sweet scallop detail at the neck and trim and a slightly ruffled sleeve.  You could wear it to the office with a skirt or pants and feel comfortable in that professional environment.

Jeans • When people ask me for a quality, affordable jean option, Kut from the Kloth is one of the brands that instantly comes to mind.  They are always stylish and look and feel great on with the perfect amount of stretch.  That means, they’ll move comfortably with your body, but won’t leave your booty sagging by the end of the day! 😉

I have several other Kut from the Kloth jeans I feel great in and wear often:

Natalie Bootcut (size down and wear with pointy heels for legs for days)

Catherine Boyfriend (relaxed style that looks great with flats or sneakers)

Donna Ankle Skinny (flattering fit, slight distressing and raw edge hem)Nordstrom Top and Jeans

I think the ‘wear later’ category is what we’re more interested in right now though!  Shouldn’t we be in sweaters and boots, sipping our caramel lattes (my preference over pumpkin spice;)?!

I took the same great pair of jeans and put on the coziest sweater with knee high boots for a different look.

Sweater • Stripes are always fun, but I especially like them in this color combo with the mix of purple, blue and orange.

The sweater has slouchy balloon sleeves that are extra cool, and if stripes aren’t your thing, you can also find it in lots of pretty solid colors.

The exposed zipper on the back is a fun touch!

I found so many darling sweaters at Nordstrom, it’s always one of my first stops when I want to freshen up my wardrobe for a new season. I really believe their website is one of the most user friendly (I love the bright, clear photos) and don’t even get me started on the oodles of awesome results I found when I searched “striped sweater women“.

I often take advantage of the BOPUS (buy online, pick up in store) so I can get my things same day without having to bring two crazy kiddos into the store!  And of course, in store and online returns are always free.

What’s the weather like in your part of the world?  Are you bundling up in sweaters yet or still baring arms? Have a fantastic day friends!
