Thank you to Shopstyle & Nordstrom for sponsoring today’s post!

Good morning friends!  I hope you’re having a great week!  I think we’re back to normal after Spring Break and finally adjusted to the time change.  It takes a while to get used to that, right?!

It’s that time of year again!  For the past few years, every March I’ve done a  swimsuit post and they are always among my most popular posts of the year.  I think it’s because no one really ‘enjoys’ swimsuit shopping, but we like to see the cute new styles and hear about the fit and quality from someone willing to do the ‘dirty work’! Am I right?! AND, lots of you have Spring Break later than we do, so you’re on the lookout for a new suit for a little sunshiney getaway!

I found some really fun new one-pieces and bikinis to share with you this time, and a few darling cover-ups as well.  Nordstrom has one of the best swimsuit selections in a variety of styles, sizes and price points.  I almost always order online and have everything delivered to my house, but you can also order online, and reserve for store pickup if you need something same day!

For size reference, I’m petite, 5’1, about 110 pounds and 34D bra.  I usually wear size Medium or Large in bikini tops and Small bottoms.  I’m a Small or 2 or 4 in one-pieces.  You typically need to size up one in swimsuits since the sizing tends to run small.

One pieces are my favorite and what I feel most comfortable in, especially when I’m at the pool or beach with my kids.

J.Crew Crochet Swimsuit J.Crew Crochet Swimsuit

I’ve been so happy with the J.Crew suits I’ve had in the past and this year is no exception.  This one is a vibrant red, fully lined with laser cutouts in the cutest floral pattern.  They back provides moderate coverage (not too cheeky), but the legs are cut higher on the sides, which elongates the look of your legs.

This suit also comes in navy, and great news, it’s currently Price Matched, 30% off!

aqua one piece swimsuitRusched Swimsuit

This suit is so so good! It’s extremely comfortable on and the rushing makes it very figure flattering.  The rushing is actually blouse style and folds over the bottoms like a two-piece, but it’s only one piece.  The straps are adjustable and it has removable cups.  It comes in 6 colors- I’m wearing “Aqua”.  My Mom loved this so much, I just ordered it for her too!

Bow Tie Side Swimsuit

Bow Tie Sides Swimsuit

This was the very last swimsuit to arrive, but one I really liked and will probably keep!  It’s on the sassy side with a scoop neck and little ‘bow ties’ on the side that expose just a bit of skin with the cutouts. The bow detail continues at the top back closure and provides an open back. It’s also lined with removable cups.

J. Crew Striped Swimsuit

J.Crew Striped Swimsuit

I love the bold candy stripes on this one piece that’s also from J. Crew.  It’s got a sweet tie back that accentuates your back and sides, with adjustable shoulder straps so you can get your perfect fit.  Bonus, it’s 40% off!

Topshop One Shoulder Swimsuit

Topshop One Shoulder Swimsuit

I liked the sleek style of this ribbed one piece and the one-shoulder detail.  I think it’s more functional worn with the detachable shoulder strap to prohibit any wardrobe malfunctions.  There’s no padded cups on this one, but it is fully lined.  One reviewer mentioned wearing it as a bodysuit with jeans too- I hadn’t thought of that! It’s also a great price, $52!

mesh swimsuit

Mesh Inset Swimsuit

I felt like this swimsuit was so va va voom with the mesh cutouts at the waist and chest.  The bottom part is more high waisted, so you still feel secure in it.  It has adjustable criss cross straps and removeable cup pads.

L Space Dakota Ribbed Swimsuit

L Space Dakota Ribbed Swimsuit

I was intrigued about this suit for the classic cut and contrasting trim.  It’s a ribbed material so it has texture to it.  If you’re nervous about the creamy color, it also comes in black and has a cool, double shoulder strap.

Gingham one-piece swimsuit

Gingham One-Piece

This popular gingham one-piece is back, but unfortunately sizes are going fast!  It’s darling on with side ruching for a flattering look.  I’ve had this one for a couple years now and still love it!  You can also wear it with a shoulder strap.

Ruffled Striped Swimsuit

Ruffle Top One-Piece

This swimsuit gets my vote for being cute and kid friendly.  The neck tie is removable, so you can wear it bandeau style if you prefer.  The ruffle at the top will help accentuate a smaller chest and the vertical stripes make you appear longer.  Nice how patterns can do that for us!

Becca Show & Tell One Piece

Last but not least, probably my most favorite one piece of all- the Becca Crochet suit.  It’s one of the best ever! The crochet on this one is still artfully placed, tasteful and sexy without being over the top.  It sits lower on the hips and has moderate coverage in the back.

SUIT FIT : I’m wearing size Small.

If you’re looking for a bikini, I found a few of those for you too!

Rusched bikini

Chelsea28 Smocked Bandeau Bikini TopBikini Bottom

I had a smocked bikini last year and ended up really loving it!  This one comes in a black with white stitching or an olive/white combo.  The top is incredibly comfortable and it has a faux tie in the back, meaning it can’t come undone, but looks like you tied it! The shoulder straps are removeable if you want to war it bandeau style.

I also liked the smocked bottoms with a wider waistband.  I felt like they were flattering and

Yellow Gingham Bikini

A yellow bikini is so classic for summer and I love the cheerful gingham pattern on this one. The top is a traditional triangle style, but with a smocked portion and cute ruffle detail.

The bottoms are quite cheeky and have flirty double side straps.

Vix bikini

VIX Striped Bikini Top •  VIX Striped Bikini Bottoms

VIX is one of my favorite swimwear brands. This suit feels amazing on with the silky smooth fabric that comes in three color patterns.  The gold hardware allows you to adjust the top and bottom legline of the suit.

Striped Ruffle Bikini

One shoulder ruffles and stripes for the win! This combo is so playful and it felt like it would stay on, although it doesn’t offer much support.

These high waist bottoms are still comfy with a higher cut leg for a flattering fit.

How darling is this mini dress style cover-up?!  I love the bold pattern and colors and the way it fits with the criss cross front.  It feels really nice against your skin and looks cute too!  Hurry on this one, sizes are going fast!

Gingham one-piece swimsuit with stripe sarong

Beach Throw/SarongHat

I’m absolutely crazy for this beach throw that doubles as a sarong! It’s a gorgeous mix of pretty stripes and tassels that coordinate well with gingham and other prints or solids.  You can wear it several ways, I think the middle looks especially chic!

Okay friends!  I really hope this was helpful to you.  I know swimsuit shopping isn’t always the most fun, but my goal is to make it easier and less painful! 😉 Let me know if you have a favorite suit this round or what you’re adding to your cart!

Have a fantastic day!

  1. I think you should stop your suit search and KEEP that mesh insert one-piece in orange. You look so so great in that one and the color is really flattering on you as well. It’s totally sexy and covered for the pool at the same time.
