Today’s the big day when ALL my friends can finally indulge in a little – or a lot – of retail therapy and shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! It’s every bit as good as you’ve heard it is and I had a chance to order the things I was lusting after that weren’t in my store to share with you today! I’m also mixing and matching lots of pieces so you can get an idea of how these things will work in your everyday wardrobe. If you missed it, you can get caught up on my Anniversary Sale Dressing Room Post #1 & Anniversary Sale Dressing Room Post #2 to see everything I’ve tried on already with sizing recommendations. If you’re still a little overwhelmed with the huge selection, take a look at my pared down list of “what to buy from the Nordstrom sale” recommendations.
For fit reference: I’m petite, 5’1, 108 lbs (gained a few recently!), and 34D.
First off, I highly recommend the Caslon Utility Pants. They are so, so good that even after I took all these dressing room pictures, I put these back on to wear for the day! They’re super comfy and stretchy and fit perfectly everywhere- and no gaping in the waist, so no alterations needed! You can dress them up or down and I promise they will become one of your wardrobe staples. With the 0P, I can wear them cuffed for a little ankle peeking out, or down without hemming.
I have a jean jacket that I swear by, but I wanted to try this one because it was a darker wash and included in the sale. It’s a little heavier than the one I have, but it’s still pretty lightweight with good stretch. It runs a little small (XS fits like a shrunken jacket which I like) but if you’re in between sizes you might want to size up.
I like this off shoulder top for a date night! The sleeves are on the longer side and it’s thin and stretchy. I love the orange, navy, grey, and cream stripe color combo.
This v-neck is a nice classic v-neck tee with a left pocket. The v-cutouts on the side are a cute touch and it’s very relaxed fitting. I did a comparison of the v-neck tees I liked best from the sale later in this post.
My splurge from the sale is this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag. I wasn’t crazy about it in the catalog, but it’s gorgeous in person and I love the embroidered detail. You’ll see throughout this post how the pattern and color in the bag can dress up your outfit. And it’s a decent size with divider pockets inside.
This shirt is super thin, stretchy and lightweight and almost feels like air putting it on. I’m wearing an XS but this is still a pretty loose fit. It also covers your bum in the back.
You can’t shop the Nordstrom sale and not check out the boots and booties! It’s against some sort of fashion law I’m sure.
1 ⋅ Peep Toe Booties – I’ve had this pair for years and I like them over skinny jeans and leggings , but I also adore how this slouchy cuff looks with boho or looser fitting dresses. Makes your legs look super sexy because it emphasizes your calves! Fits TTS.
2 ⋅ Vince Camuto Bootie – This is the best all-around bootie I found from the sale for versatility, comfort and fit. The heel is just right and I’m crazy for the side profile. They look great with your skinny jeans with a bit of ankle showing, but they’re flattering with dresses too. Fits TTS.
3 ⋅ Via Spiga Bootie – The pretty cream color and delicate perforations won me over on this bootie. The peep toe and open heel will make it a smooth transition from Summer to Fall. It’s beautifully feminine and chic. Fits TTS.
4 ⋅BP Tale Slide – This suede slide is one of the pairs of shoes I loved the most. It fit the most comfortably and the suede is buttery soft. It looked great with almost everything I tried it on with from pants and jeans to skirts and dresses. I sized up 1/2. Under $50!
This shirt is a little more fitted than the Lush Raw Edge Side Slit Tee and is definitely my favorite! It’s softer and gives a more hourglass shape.
These jeans are a great value from the sale, but they might have already sold out! 🙁 They’re very stretchy and come right to my ankle so I won’t have to hem them. I can also roll them up or leave them long and they still show a little bit of ankle. They’re in between a midrise and a lowrise.
I was still looking for a cardigan that wasn’t too long on me. This one is really soft and cozy but I wasn’t loving it or the color on me. I think I’m just gonna stick with my circle cardigan which gets ALL the heart eyes and is probably MY #1 FAVORITE THING from the sale!
At first I was thinking I would just wear it at home for lounge wear (which I have been doing every night), but now I realize it’s perfectly acceptable for outside too. I will definitely be taking this on every flight I take from now on! And, my mom already got one, and 5 friends (4 of whom don’t know it yet)! #merryChristmas!!
I was smitten with the small scale print and style of this top and the tie sleeves are a cute detail, but they were actually kind of annoying. If I kept the top I would probably cut the strings shorter because they were a little too floppy for my taste.
But, the ripped skinny jeans I loved! They are a true jean as opposed to a jegging, so you feel nice and secure in them and the darker wash I find to be a little dressier. They’re solid quality and comfortable fit. They run TTS and fit perfectly everywhere except the length, so I had a couple inches taken off. There was no gaping at the back of the waist at all, which I really appreciate!
I went back and forth between this peplum jacket and the Madewell military jacket, but ended up deciding on this one because I already have one similar to the Madewell. If you don’t already have a military jacket, I’d get the Madewell military jacket. It’s more structured with a drawstring waist to give you a smaller waistline.
As soon as I put this cold shoulder blouse on, I felt like going out for a drink! I want to wear it on my next date night! The XXS was a little snug across the top on me, so I need to size up to XS, therefore, I’d say size up because I’m usually an XXS in Bobeau, but maybe that’s in tops with more stretch.
I was dying to try this jacket and it was such a good price at only $65! Despite the price, the leather feels amazing and not at all cheap! It’s fitted around the waist, but I could still zip it if I wanted to. A moto style jacket like this instantly ups your cool girl factor!
No matter your climate, everyone can use a packable jacket like this one. It’s down filled so it will keep you super warm, but won’t take up a lot of room in your suitcase. It comes in regular and petite.
Packable Jacket $119 now, $180 after sale
I showed you this outfit in the first dressing room post but I wanted to try the XSP in the top, which fit better. Now I just need an iron! I love how they made a traditional soft plaid top sexy with the off-shoulder detail.
Above is a comparison of the v-neck tees in the sale. The grey (XS) and blue (XSP) are the same Halogen v-neck tee (which I loooooove!) The petite is a little more fitted and a tad shorter, but perfect for petites.
The Lush shirt has a pocket and the Halogen doesn’t, and as you can see, the XS is a boxier cut, but also shorter by several inches. I like the Halogen shirt better because it’s softer and I feel like better quality, and they both have a lot of stretch in them.
I’ve had this bootcut jean for about a year now and love how it gives you legs for days! They look espeically good with a tucked in top and pointy toe shoe. They have a lot of stretch, so size down.
I’m crazy for this zip calf-hair leopard clutch! It feels so expensive and is a good size, so it’ll hold more than your necessities.
This top is one that I wasn’t crazy about on the hanger, but on it’s absolutely adorable! It’s got a flirty ruffled hem and sleeve and also rushing across the chest that gives it a little extra flair. It’s one of my unexpected treasures!
But the pants!! Ladies, I’m telling you, GET THE PANTS!! They are regular pants with a zip fly and button waist, but they fit more like leggings so they’re really comfortable, soft and easy to wear. They are also so slimming and figure flattering. I’d say they fit TTS and the 00P fit except the waist (couldn’t button!), so I should’ve stuck with my regular 0P. They’re also a bit long, so I’ll have to cuff (which I did here) or get altered.
This blazer is awesome for the office or date night or work. The open collar stays in place and it’s the perfect length with faux packets and 3/4 length sleeves. I adore that sleeve length because it’s more casual and easy to wear than long sleeve blazers. And it’s under $50!!
I also found a perfect over the knee boot for us shorter gals! They have a 20-inch shaft with a slimming fit and wider, comfy toe box with a not too-tall (2 1/2 inch) heel. I also like the cut out in the back that makes walking and sitting very easy! They fit TTS.

These Articles Of Society Jeans jeans are super budget friendly. I sized down to a 24 because they have plenty of stretch in them, but they’re pretty long so I will probably have to get them altered. *I think they’re sold out because I couldn’t link them, but will update this post if they come back!
For comparison, below I’m wearing the Marc Fisher LTD Over-The-Knee Boot (TTS), which are super sexy with a higher heel (3 1/2 inch) and pointy toe, but are 4 inches longer shaft than the Scarlett boot above. Also TTS fit.
I was surprised by how much I liked this blazer, but the XS was still a little big on me. I think that the XXS might have been more petite friendly. It’s heavier, so it’s more suited for cold days and would be a great wear to work option.
This is a cute date night look, even now! The top is super light and flowy and I love the ruffle sleeves. It’s silky smooth too!
This top is cute, but I like it in the dress better (you’ll see below) because the pleats on the chest didn’t seem to be laying right on me and it was too long. It’s probably more flattering on a C cup or under.
I’ve read the rave reviews about this AG Skinny Jean with a flattering fit, so that’s one of the first things I reached for! This pair has a raw hem and will make you look like a skinny mini! They fit TTS, but of course were a little long on me. But, you can alter them yourself by cutting a straight line, roughing up the hem with your scissors and then throwing them in the wash. Just be sure to cut a straight line! The alterations lady actually said I could just cut the hem at home with scissors so that’s what I plan to do.
This tunic I’ve had forever, but it’s back and in the sale too! It goes great with jeans, but also looks good with leggings because it’s long in the back and covers your tush.
I was surprised how much I liked these moto leggings. In the picture, it’s hard to see the moto detail near the knee and thigh, but it adds an edgy feel and bit of texture to your otherwise plain leggings. They are soooo comfortable, but not as thick as I thought they’d be. I went with a size Small and probably could have sized down, but I don’t like feeling like a sausage in my leggings. These literally feel like you’re not wearing anything!
When I added the leather jacket it made me feel even cooler!
And I aslo tried them with my long sleeve striped top and jean jacket and loved that look too. With sneakers, it’d be a perfect weekend errands outfit!
I’m all for a marbled, cable knit sweater. This one comes in 4 pretty colors and is perfectly slouchy and short.
Below is one of my favorite boho dresses that I’ve had for years and worn a million times. I always get a ton of compliments on it! I love the embroidery and it’s included in the Nordstrom Sale in 3 cool colors. I styled it up a few different way so you can see how you can wear it all year long by just changing out the shoes and accessories.
I didn’t think I would be able to get this dress on because it’s super tight! After you squeeze into it, however, it’s a hot little number! The side ruching is super flattering and there’s some stretch, but not a ton which is actually what kind of holds you in (and makes it challenging to get into). The only thing I wasn’t crazy about is that the fabric isn’t as soft as I’d hoped. I’m wondering if it would soften up after a wash with fabric softener. The one I’m wearing is navy blue, a less severe option than black and goes great with the embroidered bag.
Even though I didn’t care for this dress on me, I think if you weren’t super petite, it would be darling with the ruffle detail and drop waist.
Now this is a cute dress that you can wear now or into the fall with its perfect mix of navy and pink. I love the three quarter hem and trumpet style. The trumpet hem is really flattering from behind because it accentuates your booty.
This floral dress is super cute and buttons down the back. If you like a flowy, non body-conscious dress, this would be perfect for you! You can wear this dress to work with some strappy heels and I thought the yellow strappy heels looked particularly good with it, even though you can’t tell from this photo!
I wanted to cry over this one! It’s unbelievably pretty with sweet tie sleeves and the bright pink color is awesome, but the shoulders were sooooo tight! I kind of felt like I was in a straightjacket! I feel like if I went up a size it would be too big though. I’m wondering if it’s worth taking to the alterations lady and seeing if she could put a v-cut in the elastic part in back or something because it’s such a fun dress. It’s super cute on the sides too with the dip up.
I really love this black a-line swing dress! The material is super lightweight and cool so I’d be totally comfortable wearing it now. It’s hard to tell but the crocheting goes all the way down the front of the dress.
I’ve been wearing these to bed every night since I got them. They are unbelievably soft and make for sweet dreams. They run a little on the small side.
Finally, I’d be a terrible friend if I didn’t tell you about the bras and panties to buy! I couldn’t believe our good fortune when I saw the PERFECT T-Shirt bra included in the sale. Remember the one I was giddy to find that’s wireless and seamless with good lift. Yep, it’s on sale for $39, $60 after the sale. AND, my very favorite seamless panties that stay in place all day and are ultra comfortable, so much so that you’ll forget you’re wearing them. Those panties are in the sale for only $13, $19 after the sale. I’m thrilled to see more colors like pink and aqua- they only had tan, black and brown before.
Okay friends, I feel I’ve sufficiently armed you with all the shopping knowledge you need to go forth and SLAY the Anniversary sale! Have fun! I’d love to hear what you scored!
