Hey friends! I’m sure I don’t have to tell you twice that it’s an exciting day for all of us fashion lovers! I know y’all are just as excited about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale as I am! And I’m so happy you’re here to shop with me! #itsmorefunwithfriends! Cue the champagne, cheers and confetti!!! I actually did have mimosa
s while I shopped the sale early yesterday and can I tell you- shopping is even more fun with a little side of bubbly! #youknewthat! I think they wanted to get me drunk so I’d shop my face off. As if I needed liquid courage for that! I hope you are at home or work (shh, I won’t tell!) shopping online, because I’m sure the store is crazy packed today and I wouldn’t want to fight the traffic or dressing rooms today of all days!
And, if you aren’t quite sure what all the fuss is about, it’s okay, I’m happy to fill you in! The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is THE SALE with all the NEW fall fashion goodness that is just released, but at slashed prices for three weeks, then they go up to full-price. The things that are on sale now are the things you will be itching to wear the minute the slightest hint of a cool front hints- and actually even a few things you could get away with wearing now. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens today for cardholders, (get a card here and shop today) but don’t worry, if you don’t have a card, you can start shopping next Friday! Mark your calendars to come back here, because I will have more to share!
At the store yesterday, I found so much to share with you that I’m breaking it into two posts. I’ll be back tomorrow with the second half. This post is already super long, so I tried to keep my commentary brief and informative! Maybe go ahead and pour yourself that mimosa, I’ll wait . . . . .
First up, I’ve been aching for a new pair of jeans and was specifically excited to try the much-loved AG skinny jeans. I’ve read the rave reviews about this quality, designer jean with a flattering fit, so that’s one of the first things I reached for! This pair is with a raw hem delivered and will make you look like a skinny mini! They fit TTS, but of course were a little long on me. The alterations lady actually said I could just cut the hem at home with scissors so that’s what I plan to do. Her only tip: be sure to cut a straight line!
This off-shoulder top sure ups the game on your grandpa’s flannel shirt! It’s super soft and cozy, and the off-shoulder/long sleeves are an awesome combo. I tried on XS and it fit fine, but the petite would probably be better. It also comes in pink and I think I need that one too! You know I’m going to recommend my all-time favorite strapless bra and I couldn’t believe our good fortune when I saw the PERFECT T-Shirt bra included in the sale. Remember the one I was giddy to find that’s wireless and seamless with good lift. Yep, it’s on sale for $39, $60 after the sale.
AND, my very favorite seamless panties that stay in place all day and are ultra comfortable, so much so that you’ll forget you’re wearing them. Those panties are in the sale for only $13, $19 after the sale. I’m thrilled to see more colors like pink and aqua- they only had tan, black and brown before.
Of course I was anxious to try on boots and booties, but this suede slide is one of the pairs of shoes I loved the most. It fit the most comfortably and the suede is buttery soft.
Right away I was smitten with the cowl neck sweater vest. The waffle fabric is thick and the baby pink is really pretty. It’s got small v-cuts on the side and isn’t the pocket a fun detail? A tight turtleneck isn’t usually my thing, but I love the looser cowl neck style.
Another knock-out top is this black bell-sleeve sweater with a white contrasting trim. It runs big, so I needed XSP and I plan to order it!
Of course, over-the-knee boots quickly become thigh highs on me, but these boots are very comfortable and slimming.
Even though we rarely need a heavier coat in Houston, I had to try this on for you. The color combo and pattern look smart and I could see you Northerners looking very chic in this on your way to work in the morning. It runs big, even though I tried on XXS, it was still too big on me.
For a top you could definitely wear now, this double ruffle top is a winner. The voluminous sleeves are playful, but I didn’t feel like they were too much. A large statement necklace would balance them out nicely.
I love the light/dark blue, cream and gold color combo on this lightweight fringe scarf. It will look great with a solid or lightly patterned top as you can see with the striped blouse.
And can we talk about these Over-the-Knee boots?! I love the stitching at the top of these boots and the detail around the ankle. The heel is a block heel and they have a cutout at the back of the knee so they are easy to sit and walk in.
I remember trying on a similar maroon sweater with a deep-v neck last year and I like this one as much! You could wear a tank or cami underneath if you feel too exposed in the front, or if you want to wear it unbuttoned, but I like it both ways. The back has a darling criss-cross you need to see!
The BLANKNYC Skinny Jeans I’m wearing with this sweater were my second favorite. I’ve come to know and love that brand of jean and they are a solid quality and comfortable fit. I liked the wash on these jeans. They run TTS and fit perfectly everywhere except the length, which I’m having a couple inches taken off. There was no gaping at the back of the waist at all, which I really appreciate!
Some of the booties this year are awesome! Vince Camuto hit it out of the park with a few pair and his Karinta block heeled peep toe bootie is back with a patterned whipstitching that gives it a different feel from last year’s version. I didn’t buy them because they were so similar to my last pair, but this new pair is haunting me already! #help!
Hinge is one of my favorite brands, but it can be pricey, so I’m always on high alert for their sale things. This top is no exception- it’s lovely and also comes in black. It’s a-line and swingy with cute iridescent polka dots and a ruffle sleeve. I sized up to a small in it due to da boobs.
I didn’t get a great picture of the Kut From The Cloth Connie Ankle Jeans because they didn’t have my size, but I really liked the feel of them and the higher ankle/longer in the back trend with a raw edge hem. They are a budget brand that I can vouch for and I plan to order the 0P. They have a lot of stretch so you need to size down. They will be super cute with ankle booties or flats to show off that ankle detail.
These Kut from the Kloth bootcut jeans are amazing and give you legs for days, just size down because they have a lot of stretch in them. $59 now, $89 after sale
I was bummed that this bell sleeve blouse was a little tight across the chest. If you’re a C–cup or smaller, you should be fine.
But the good news is, it also came in this sweet off-shoulder ruffle sleeve dress. My OTK boots weren’t the right shoe for it, but a nude heel would be perfect and you could wear this on your next date night!
Cupcakes & Cashmere Off Shoulder Dress $79 now, $120 after sale
I wish I had tried on the jacket in the dark brown. It was super soft and the ruffled shoulder gave it a feminine vibe. I just wasn’t crazy about this nude color because I thought it washed me out.
Hinge Shrunken Leather Bomber Jacket XS $199 now, $299 after sale
Okay guys, I need your opinion on this adorable and cozy, cozy cardi. I wanted so bad to keep it, but I think it was too long on me. Had it been even two inches shorter, I think I could’ve pulled it off. But, those of you 5’3 and up, I say, “get this cardigan”! You’ll probably want it in every color- it comes in 6!
The booties were good too. I like how the studs gave them a rocker chic vibe, but they are a great deal and didn’t feel ‘cheap’ to me like some BP shoes can.
This is one that I might have shed a tear over. This ruffle sleeve t-shirt dress is kitteny soft and even has pockets, but was definitely too hippy on me. You can kind of see what I mean in the second picture with the scarf. Maybe I should’ve had the alterations lady look at it because it’s one of those basic pieces that you can dress up or down and feel so comfortable in. It also comes in grey and olive.
Now here’s something that comes in both regular and petite, so we have a ding, ding, ding! This jacket is more like a shirt because it’s thin and lightweight. I cuffed the sleeves to give it a more casual vibe, I love the stitching at the top of these boots and the detail around the ankle. The heel is a block heel and they had a cutout at the back of the knee so they are easy to sit and walk in.
Caslon Twill Peplum Jacket XSP $49 now, $75 after sale
No matter your climate, everyone can use a packable jacket like this one. It’s down filled so it will keep you super warm, but won’t take up a lot of room in your suitcase. It comes in regular and petite.
Packable Jacket $119 now, $180 after sale
I couldn’t leave you without diving further into the boots and booties in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. If you’ve been eyeing a pair of Tory Burch riding boots, now is your chance to call those babies your own. They are on sale now for $299, but will be $500 after the sale. The FRYE Melissa boot is included in the sale too- $246 now, $398 later.
And let’s talk booties. These little workhorses will probably get the most wear out of your wardrobe close to year round. The colors, cutouts and detailing on all of the booties made them stand out as the extra special from the sale.
1 ⋅ Vince Camuto Francia Bootie $99 now, $149 after sale – these first two have heels on the higher side, but I find them both easy to walk in.
2 ⋅ Vince Camuto Fileana Bootie– $99 now, $149 after sale How cute are the perforations and side cut-outs on this bootie?!
3 ⋅ Vince Camuto Prasata Bootie – $99 now, $149 after sale These two are your BFFs for running around in while being comfortable. For some reason though, this #3 bootie would not stay on my right foot. My heel kept slipping out of it when I walked. Maybe I needed to try a no-show sock with it. I was super bummed about this one though because it was my favorite.
4 ⋅ BP Farren Bootie $69 now, $100 after sale This perforated bootie is very comfortable and also good for a wider foot.
More Anniversary Sale goodness you might want to take advantage of is the UGG boots, with a special shout out to the Rib-Knit Cuff Boot and slippers.
If you don’t have a pair of Hunter rainboots, what are you waiting for?! I can’t even ask that with a straight face because it took me 41 years to get my first pair! But I love them (I bought the kids- just size down 2) and I wear them so much more often than I would’ve realized. Think muddy ballfields for example!
Lulu DK Love Spinning Necklace – I’m such a sucker for an initial necklace and love to represent my kids with Js. I saw this online and it’s pretty and dainty with one side of the letter being cubic zirconia and the other being etched.
I’m a big fan of high waist leggings because they hold in your tummy and keep you all taut. I’m digging this pair with the grey and pale pink with mesh inserts and sheer panels. They are supposed to be functional too because they keep you cooler.
The Nike Free Focus Flyknit 2 Bionic is by far my favorite pair of running shoes. They are so lightweight and cushiony and my feet don’t sweat in them becasue they are breathable.
I’m also interested in the Nike high waist leggings in basic black.
And after this marathon shopping session, I’ll need a week on the couch in my cozies!
Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Lite Hooded Cardigan – everyone who touches this wants to live in it! It’s your perfect, “I’m not doing anything this weekend” lounging around cardigan.
And last but not least, a few beauty items to snag while they’re on sale!
MAC Look in a Box Lip Kit – gorgeous colors to brighten up your look!
The lash serum that helped regrow my lashes super long again after lash extensions is on sale for $150, a $245 value. I can attest, this stuff works, and it lasts a long time. I still use it nightly.
Hello . . . Is this thing on?? . . . Are you still here?? If so, big hugs and kisses all over your face! Okay, now go shop your faces off and report back with your favorite things!! See you tomorrow!!
