24 Grey Rug Options

This weekend was filled to the brim celebrating our now 5-year old!  I know all parents feel this way, but we are just so proud of him and delighting in the person he is becoming.  Since I stay home, I'm grateful to have lots of time spent with him and made sure to include him on every decision for his party, down to the favor gifts he'd give to his friends that came to his party.  I love getting his input and hearing his opinion on things. And who knows better what gifts other 5-year olds would enjoy than another 5 year old?!  Though this particular birthday pulled hard at my heartstrings, we all survived!

___________

I feel like I'm going cross-eyed looking for a grey rug for our master bedroom.  I've searched so many sites (and visited Homegoods), and the rugs were all starting to run together.  Many retailers also carry the same rugs, so I've been checking prices and size selection.  Lots of the rugs I found below would be good choices for our bedroom, but they aren't all available beyond 8x10.  I need about 9x11.

When purchasing a rug online, I'm careful to read the rug specifications/description so I know what material it's made of and the pile height.  Some of these are flat weave rugs, which I don't prefer the feel of on my feet, but other people love them.  Also, for instance, I really like #12 (first graphic), but it's indoor/outdoor.  That might be great for a breakfast room or other high traffic area, but not necessarily for the bedroom.

Of course, one of my favorites is #8 (first graphic), but it's the most expensive! Of course. :( Doesn't that always happen?! And #1 (first graphic) is also awesome, but too small for our space.  Choosing a rug feels like a big commitment because it then limits your bedding choices.  But, I'm ready to add another layer to our room and since I'm still fond of our bedding after several years (and know I love a neutral bedroom), I want to finally choose one.  Do you have a favorite?

After I put these graphics together, I realized rug #4 (first graphic) and rug #2 (second graphic) are the same rug sold by two different retailers.  I checked the prices and they were the same, but #2 is also available in a 9x12.

You may already know this, but it's a good reminder that if you find a rug you like, do a "shopping search" for it to make sure it's not priced less somewhere else and also in case you need a different size that's not available on the site you're at.

Some of the rugs I featured are from Joss & Main, a flash sale site, so they come and go.  But, if you know the name of the rug, you might be able to find it elsewhere if it's sold out.  You have to be a member of Joss & Main to shop their sales, but it's free to sign up and you just enter your email address.  They do sell the same items sold at other retailers, but for a discounted price.  I'll earn $15 if you sign up through my link and make a purchase.  You earn the same when you refer a friend.

Which one do you think would work best in my room

  1. I like #8 (1st graphic) and #6 and #7 (2nd graphic). My home is camel, cream and black and I need an outdoor rug for new patio furniture. SO scary buying rugs, as they need to have a good return policy in case you don't care for them in the end. Great post, as I don't do well purchasing rugs!!

    1. I've been mindful of the return policy too! With clothes I'm quick to buy two pair of jeans and just return the ones that don't fit, but with a rug, it seems like such a major pain to order multiples.

  2. For your space, both 10s and the 9 & 11 from the second graphic are my favorites. They won't compete with the sitting area & I think they'll complement your bedding. :) Good luck on your search!

    1. Yeah, I've been thinking about if I'll then need to change out the sitting room rug as well. Thanks for your input Jaclyn!

  3. Those in the second graphic are appearing more gray to me, while the first graphic more on the greige side leaning more toward brown. Love #8, #9 and #10 in the second graphic. I like the bit of sheen to #10. I have always pictured you more a geometric rather than floral kinda gal when it comes to your decorating. You incorporate it so well into your home.

    1. Thanks Lauren! My bedding is kinda floral/paisley we'll see what looks best with it. I picked up a couple new throw pillows at Homegoods this weekend and two of them are geometric patterned!. ;)

    2. I just went back and looked at the pictures of your bedding. Is there a way to piece the picture you have of your bedding on your home tour page with the rugs? I am not that savvy with those programs, but it might give you a better idea of what pattern would look best.

  4. Have you seen the ikat links rug in frosted gray at west elm? I think it would look great in your room!
