This & That

How’s your week going friends?  I’m just over here counting down the days ’til the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like a kid at Christmas!  It’s so close, opening this Thursday for cardholders.  ??I got a friendly letter in the mail letting me know they upped my limit just in time for the sale- #thankyouverymuch!  We’ll keep this little detail to ourselves and not bother the hubby with that tidbit of info!  😉  Are you excited?!?! Of course, I’ll be sharing my picks on Thursday and then a big ‘ole dressing room round up on Friday with fit tips and recommendations. Let me know what you have questions about and I’ll do my best investigative journalism for ya!

 Updated Website

Have you had a chance to get familiar with the new organization here at Honey We’re Home?  A few weeks ago, I updated the layout so you could find my older content more easily.  Now, if you just click one of the categories at the top, you’ll be able to read all the older posts related to that category, from newest to oldest.  I also created a new “This & That” tab for these random ‘girl talk’ posts that don’t fit neatly into a specific category.  And there’s a Shop tab that you can click on to shop my Instagrams without LikeToKnowIt, or things in my Closet, my Must Haves, Home Decor, Beauty, Kids, etc.

I definitely appreciate your feedback and am especially glad to hear you like the ease of viewing HWH on your cell or iPads.  Below is how the site looks on mobile and you can click the three bars on the top right to open up the different categories.

From there, if you click the “>”, it will open up the subcategories and individual posts.

If you want to get my blog posts emailed to you, just enter your email address on the right hand side of my blog and hit ‘subscribe’.  You’ll then get an email to confirm your subscription.

I had a hiccup that should be fixed this week where the whole post wasn’t showing in the email and you had to click, “read more” to see the whole post.  Those kinds of things are frustrating for me too, and especially because fixing them is over my head.  I had to hire a tech person to fix that, and after lots of back and forth regarding formatting, etc, it’s thisclose to being fixed.  If you take the time to subscribe to my posts, I want you to be able to read them in their entirety with ease!  Thank you!!

Watching

Now that we blew through OITNB and House of Cards- (I won’t spoil either of them, but I will say the second half to both of those shows were soooo much better than the first.  And both ended soooo good!) – I’ve been on the hunt for something new to watch.  We got started on Peaky Blinders and it’s okay a couple episodes in, but I happened to come across something different, a documentary on Netflix called Chef’s Table, and it’s got me hooked.  Each 1-hour episode features a different chef and his or her contribution to the culinary world with in-depth interviews and behind-the-scenes into their kitchens. It’s so inspiring and really well done.  What are you watching now and what do you recommend?

Protein Pancakes

I’ve gotten lots of questions about what I eat in a typical day, so I’m working on another post about that to share soon.  By the way, I do love hearing those questions and blog post suggestions- I keep a folder on my Evernote with blog post ideas, so if you have something you’d like to see, please let me know!

For now, I wanted to share the protein pancake I make that gets the most inquires.  I used to make my own waffle using protein powder, an egg and water, but honestly, it doesn’t taste that good.  This Kodiac Cakes protein pancake mix is so good!  I make it with 1/3 cup mix, 1/3 cup All Whites, 1/3 cup water, and a splash of flaxseed for added fiber.

To make: Spray your small pan with cooking spray, then pour in the mixed batter.  When it’s almost cooked through and looks mostly dry on top, then you can flip it. After it’s cooked through, I put it on a cooling rack for a few minutes so the steam can release or else I find it gets soggy.  I eat mine with a bit of sugar free syrup and sometimes also peanut butter.  It’s a filling breakfast, high in protein and Jordan loves them too!  The way I make them makes 1 big pancake.

Decorating

When we got our new cooling technology mattress, I didn’t realize how tall it would be with the tall box spring and size of the mattress.  Now we’re up high and I actually like it.  Our room is pretty big, so it can take a big bed, but it makes me want to switch up our actual bed/headboard for something more substantial.  So, my decor juices are flowing and I’ve been searching for something new.  In the meantime, I found a beautiful white braided style rug for our bedroom that replaced the previous floral-style rug.

10 Summer Faves on Sale

We’re well into Summer now and already the sales are really good! Everything here (minus the bag) is on sale for under $50- and the bag is only $53!

ten summer faves on sale

1. Cold Shoulder Dress $118 $50

This swingy striped! cold shoulder dress is perfect for daytime or evenings out.  Love the simplicity of it and the drapey fabric.  Such a steal at right under $50!  For a daytime look, you could wear it with the #10 sandals (they have lots of colors) & for evening, these black open toe heeled sandals would be great.

2.  Statement Ring $50 $20

Show off your summer mani with this gorgeous, chic statement ring! I like to wear it on my first or middle finger on my right hand with a bold bracelet.

3.  Crystal & Enamel Hinged Bangle $48 $41

This simple bangle bracelet is the perfect layering piece to your watch or with a stack of other bracelets, or worn simply alone.

4. Blue Maxi Dress $52 $39

I’m sure you’ve heard me rave about this maxi dress before.  Every time I wear it, I get tons of compliments and it’s really flattering and comfortable.  It’s on sale under $40!  I wear XS.

5. Peacock Iphone Case $50 $25

How cute is this peacock phone case?!  Your mirror selfies will be so much cuter with this little guy peeking out in them!

6. Zella High Waist Crop Leggings $65 $43

High waist leggings will be your BFF, I swear!  They keep you all nice and tucked in and make you feel great while working out.  Zella quality is always superb, and this pair comes in three colors with criss-cross detail at the calf.  They run TTS, I wear size XS.

7. Z 6 Ruched Tee $32 $16

Although I normally wear a tank to workout, this Zella tee is my go-to when I want a t-shirt.  The seams in the shirt are perfectly placed to help the illusion of a smaller waist and I like the cut of the sleeves that don’t irritate me when I’m working out.

8. Faux Leather Saddle Bag $79 $53

This crossbody bag is the prettiest light and navy blue combo.  It’s also a good size, so it will hold all your necessities and then some.

9. Striped Tank $19 $11

My go-to tank, $11!!!  I think I need to stock up on the other colors.  It’s perfect for wearing alone or layering under cardigans or other tops.  It fits TTS, XS here.

10. GiGi Sandals $60 $42

I have the older version of these sandals and they are really good! They come in tons of colors and the “beige leather” has a snakeskin pattern that goes with everything.   Sam Edelman makes quality shoes that last, so I highly recommend them!

That’s all for now friends! Have a great day!

  1. If you love OITNB–you will go bananas for Wentworth on Netflix–beware–it’s 5 seasons and I’m sucked into the second season right now. I thought it was only one season and binged–only to realize it’s FIVE!! I am up till about midnight each night with no self control trying to get through these! It’s about a lady’s correctional institute in Australia (love listening to them speak!). Trust. Me.

  2. Great job on the website! I just browsed through it and you’ve made everything super easy to find…which is a good and bad thing lol. I Just saw that yellow tie-front sweater and I have to have it!

  3. Question about the pancakes….can you make them ahead and then re-heat? I go straight to work from the pool in the mornings, so I’d love to pre-make these for the week. Thanks!
