How was your weekend?! Hello lovelies!  Did you have a great weekend?!  Ours involved the last T-ball game of the season, a new two-wheel bike for our son who’s learning to ride without training wheels, and me trying to take a nap every time Jordan did.  After almost three months of middle of the night feedings, the lack of uninterrupted sleep is catching up to me big time.  I feel like I’m going through the motions during the day, but my mind and body are exhausted.  The good news is that yesterday, she woke up at 7am to eat, then fell back to sleep until 11:30 a.m.

This Thursday marks just 6 short weeks since Jordan’s been born!  In that time, we have fallen head over heels in love with her.  Who am I kidding?  I fell in love the instant I saw her for the first time!   She’s been giving us big smiles lately and you would think that we’ve never seen a smile before the way we go ga-ga over them!  It’s been challenging slowing down from my previous go-go-go lifestyle for the gentle pace of a new baby that needs constant attention, but I’m not complaining.  I mean, just look at this bundle of sweetness that I get to cuddle with all day!

Along with getting organized, getting healthy and fit probably tops most of our lists in terms of things we’d like to accomplish or make improvements to in the new year.  This year, I competed in my second bikini contest and, although I also blog about home and fashion, my fitness posts were the most popular. That really surprised me- I didn’t realize how often those posts had been read until I looked back at the end of the year.  Chronicling my fitness journey here helped keep me accountable and, hopefully, also showed you what kind of results are achievable in just 12 weeks with a specific meal and exercise plan.

Last year, when I got in the best shape of my life and competed in my first NPC bikini contest, it took less than six months for me to get back out of shape!  The contest was July 2014 and by Thanksgiving, I had gained about 10 pounds (a lot on such a short girl) and had lost a lot of my muscle tone.  Right after the contest, I stopped working out with my trainer and then wasn’t going to the gym much.  My eating was all over the place and I was indulging in too many sweet treats (my weakness!).

I used to be a purest when it came to workout clothes: they are for the gym or during workouts only.    Kinda like some people have strong opinions about no tv in the bedroom.  I’m okay with that actually, even though we can’t see the tv in our sitting room from our bed.  My favorite reason for having a tv in that room is because I watch it while folding all. the. laundry.  But, I digress.

If you’ve been reading my blog or following me on Twitter, you know that over the last year I’ve struggled to lose the 50ish pounds I gained during my pregnancy.  For a woman that’s just 5’1, I couldn’t wait to drop those extra pounds and it’s taken me nearly a year and a half to do it!  

A gorgeous blogging buddy from Houston invited me to participate in a boot camp, Houston Area Adventure Boot Camp, the longest-running boot camp in the Houston area.  Over the last seven years they have helped more then 5200 people achieve their fitness goals.

Losing the Baby Weight

I have struggled with writing this post- started writing it a million times in my head but couldn’t commit it to the blog.  I think it’s because I haven’t reached my “goal” yet, but I decided instead that it might be worthwhile to talk about the process and celebrate my progress, even if I’m still not completely back to my pre-pregnancy body.  And I’m not sure I ever will be since things like wider hips just might be here to stay.  Really, I’m okay with that since I’m pretty small-framed, it’s nice to have some curves!
