Elliott’s Office Makeover
Hi friend! Welcome to a fresh, new week! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was a fantastic weekend over here made so much better by your sincere joy and well wishes on Elliott’s and my engagement!
I’m still on Cloud 9 and letting it all sink in. How wild and awesome it is to get to be so in love and A BRIDE!! at age 50??!! Just goes to show that we may never lose our zest for love and a meaningful relationship can happen at any time when you are open to it.
We really feel the excitement from you and couldn’t be more grateful that so many of you took the time to write and leave sweet comments. I read lots of, “I’ve never been so happy for someone I’ve never actually met . . ” and that made me smile so big. Trust me, I feel that type of connection with you even though we only communicate online. It’s heartwarming to feel so invested. Thank you!!
I’ll be doing a little Q&A soon so that I can share more engagement details with you.
Elliott’s Office Makeover
Today, I’m welcoming you into our home and sharing a small home decor project that we’ve been working on for the past couple of months.
We have a home office right off the entryway that hasn’t gotten proper attention until now. Although he doesn’t live with us yet, Elliott uses this space when he’s here to work and take calls.
And this room is also where I walk daily on my treadmill, so it serves dual purposes and I wanted it to look nice and be functional for both of us.

First things first, we needed a desk. We searched a lot before landing on this simple desk.
This one checks the boxes for being a minimal style with a simple design, good size and a single desk drawer for storing small things.
We ordered it several months ago and I cannot for the life of me remember where we got it and I haven’t been able to find the order, but I’ll keep looking so I can update this post.
I will say it’s nice and sturdy and was much less expensive than several other similar versions.
We’re still also looking for a good quality desk chair. The one in here now is simply one of our dining room chairs. It’s very comfortable and supports Elliott’s back, which is an important quality for the new desk chair we ultimately purchase.
Because it’s a bigger investment and requires more careful consideration, we’ll need to take our time and do more research before making a decision on a new desk chair.

The next big update to the room is drapes. These are the same brand of drapes we hung in my bedroom and since we had such good luck with them as far as the quality and durability goes, we used them here too.
These drapes are high quality material and made very well. They are HEAVY and look so luxe in the room. The gold rod and rings are from Amazon and hang the pinch pleat drapes beautifully.
We (Elliott) hung them nice and high to draw your eye up and so that we didn’t have to do any alteration to the length.
Floating Frame • Boxes • Wall Art • Picture Light • Lamp
There’s also a beautiful wall tapestry that we found at Magnolia Market. It adds the perfect visual interest and fits that space between the windows so well. It’s also very lightweight so it was easy to hang.
This past weekend, Elliott hung the art lamp and I really like it. The light is rechargeable and operates easily from a remote. You don’t have to do any wiring!
I did a bit of simple styling on the credenza (which is from my old house). We have the same one in my bedroom because this one actually arrived damaged and when I called to let the company know, they said to keep it and also sent a replacement!
The plant was a gift from Rhonda and it comes in a self watering container, which is hidden in the current pot.
We also have some books and this cool picture frame that holds our photo from a date night.
The decorative green boxes are from Target and the black lamp is from Magnolia Market.
Chair • Side Table
There is a little reading nook in the far corner with a chair and side table. I’d like to find a little pillow for the chair to give it a more moody vibe, but haven’t found one yet.

We also switched out the rug that was in here previously. It was a simple cream rug, but really too small for the space. I put that cream rug in our entryway and brought in this larger mutlicolored rug.
The rug is the “tobacco/sage” color in size 6’7 x 9’2″.
I’m so happy with it! It really grounds the room and the rug feels nice and soft underfoot.
Although it’s not the most aesthetic thing, my treadmill gets daily use here. Maybe when Elliott eventually moves in, we’ll find another sport for the treadmill, but for now, it’s fine here.

We are both so happy with how this room is shaping up! We are considering painting the room, but haven’t decided for sure yet. Would you paint it? If so, what color?
Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!
I love the moody vibe of the tapestry and the rug. I’m a huge fan of neutral wall paint, but I could definitely see a hunter green in here – Studio McGee is my go-to for paint color ideas.
I ordered the treadmill recently and LOVE it! I wasn’t sure I’d be an AM treadmill person so the price point was perfect. I treasure my morning time on the treadmill listening to inspiring YouTube videos and content.
Yes I would paint it. The drapes and rug I love but not with the white walls. I’m sure you’ll come up with the perfect color!
It’s so wonderful to see all the “WE”s in your post Megan!! Congratulations!! I would love to see your walls a moody color like the drapes or rug.
Your intro still says you built the home you live in, in 2010. I’m so confused now but I think maybe that’s just a mishap and needs editing. Did you really build your last house in just 2010? Wow how time flies. Been following you forever. I love your new home as well as your last. Didn’t know Elliot has an office at your current home though. Interesting development! And that you are engaged. Another interesting development. So many sides to the story that I’m sure I do not know 🙂 Jesus is coming back sooooooooooooon.
