Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream Recipe (Vanilla & Chocolate)
Yay for Friday and Yay for ICE CREAM! Y’all are going to love this! I have the most delicious ice cream recipe to share with you and it’s actually healthy! This ice cream is homemade with a protein shake and turns out creamy and decadent and you’d never know it’s not loaded with sugar!
When I shared my ice cream addiction with you, so many of you recommended that I get the Ninja Creami and make my own healthier version of ice cream.
I wish I could hug you right now through the screen because, after trying this, I don’t miss my old ice cream at all. I never thought I’d see the day! It’s THAT good!
You’ll need the Ninja Creami to make this ice cream. It’s what turns that icy ice cream into smooth, creamy deliciousness.
I’m going to share two recipes with you – a vanilla and a chocolate. From those simple bases, you can make your ice cream EXTRA by adding in whatever ‘mix-ins’ you like.

Aside from the Ninja Creami, you only need 3 things for this recipe – the protein shake, sugar free vanilla pudding mix, and half & half or milk of your choice.
The pudding mix is supposed to add sweetness and acts as a stabilizer, but I may try it without next time just to test that.
The milk gives your ice cream that extra creamy texture.
I added the pure vanilla extract just to enhance the vanilla flavor.
Start by combining one vanilla protein shake and one tablespoon of the sugar free pudding mix. I used a small whisk to mix it well.
Then, and here’s the hard part – YOU HAVE TO FREEZE IT FOR 24 HOURS before making the ice cream.
Once it has frozen for a day, it takes less than 5 minutes to make.
When you pull your pint out of the freezer, if it has developed a cone on top, you’ll want to level it before using the Ninja Creami. I take a cheese knife to slice away that top part and make it even.
The Ninja Creami I bought comes with two freezable pint jars and lids. I definitely want to buy more pint jars because I want more of this ice cream on hand, especially with my kids around!
First, you’ll press “Light Ice Cream” and let the machine mix it up. It only takes about a minute.
You’ll have something that looks like this after that step. Pretty good right here, but to make it really creamy and less crystal-ly, we’re going to add 2 tablespoons of milk or half and half. This is where I added the teaspoon of vanilla.
Hit RESPIN.
Ahhhh, now we’re talkin’!
At this point, you will have luscious, beautiful and perfectly delicious smooth vanilla ice cream.
But if you want to take it to the next level, you can add any toppings you desire. I added about 1 tablespoon of almonds and walnuts and 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate chips.
Make a little hole in the middle of your ice cream and pour the mix-ins in.
Hit MIX-IN.
Here’s what it will look like after this step. The mix-ins are all mixed into the ice cream.
But don’t let that stop you from adding more on top!
I cannot even tell you how good this ice cream is! I like to let it get a little bit melty when I eat it, I feel like the flavor is best that way. My daughter likes to eat her ice cream ice cold. What about you?
Cheers friends!
Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream Recipe (Chocolate)
You can do the same thing to make chocolate ice cream. Just use a chocolate protein shake and add 1 tablespoon of espresso powder to enhance the flavor.

Thank you again for recommending that I try making my own homemade ice cream! The ice cream I’ve been addicted to has so many calories, fat and sugar.
This one is much healthier (especially if you don’t add in the mix-ins). And the flavor is honestly so good! My kids love it too! I’m excited to try more flavors!
Have a fantastic day friend!
I am like you; I like my ice cream ‘soft serve’ style. My husband ice cold and like to chew it.
We are ice cream twins!
Looks delightful! Do you happen to have the nutritional info?
Hi! I recommend to check out Elyse Ellis on IG who has some of the best creamy recipes. Also, instead of Fairlife milk, I add straight protein Powder to get different flavors, like snickerdoodle ice cream. Yum!! Enjoy!
That sounds so good! Thanks for the recommendation Heather!
If you freeze your container with the lid off initially, it’ll freeze flat/without the coned top : )
HI – which Creami did you buy and why? Currently pondering …. Thanks
Hi! Going to try this now! I am curious why you don’t throw the pudding mix and 1/2 and 1/2 in with the initial freezing? Does it make a difference adding it after?
