What I Wore | March (& decluttering jeans)

Hi friend! Yay for Friday! And for Easter break! My kids are out of school until Tuesday! Woo hoo! And I made it one whole week without sugar. It was actually kind of anticlimactic because it wasn’t this hard this time. I’m feeling better and it was the nudge I needed to get my diet in check. I’m going to continue being more mindful of my sugar consumption and keep it low.

I shared more details about this second no-sugar journey here, along with a general life update and how things are going with Elliott. I also had new outfits from Abercrombie and GibsonLook. The shorts were my faves in that post, both keepers!

Tuesday Goodies had some very good finds, including a Walmart planter that looks just like the pricier Pottery Barn version.

On Amazon Live, I shared my Last Chance Big Spring Sale picks & a new Unbox with Me.

Your Faves This Week

I love seeing what y’all love and here’s what topped your list this week!

What I Wore This Month | March

Since January, I’ve been sharing all the outfits I wore that month in an effort to encourage me to actually wear what’s in my closet. I was so happy you liked the post and y’all wanted to see it become a series, so today I’m sharing what I wore in March.

Decluttering Jeans, Pants, and Shorts

But first, I wanted to start with more of a ‘clean slate’ this month because it can be disheartening to stare into a closet full of things with nothing to wear. We’ve all be there, right?

At the beginning of this month, I went through my closet and tried on every.single pair of jeans, pants, skirts and shorts that I owned. I even found one pair of jeans that still had the tag on!! OMG.

Some didn’t fit, some where past their style, some had picky issues like ‘can only wear with heels’ and some were just old so I gave the smallest items to Elliott’s daughter (she’s 16) and she was happy to receive them. I donated the rest.

With a whittled down closet and only the jeans I love and that fit and flatter, I know that all of the jeans I have are great options. There’s no rummaging and having to filter “those don’t fit right now” or “those are kinda uncomfortable.” And I still have plenty.

And, on an insider note, I also looked up everything I kept to see if I could still link it for you. There are older items in my closet that have sold out, and I still wear them, but maybe I’m not sharing them because I can’t link them. Let me know if you still want to see those outfits with a link to something “similar.”

You may notice I fold my jeans, use clear dividers, and label them by brand. That helps keep me organized.

After trying all those bottoms on, I selected a handful that I wanted to wear this month, along with tops and bottoms, and dresses that would coordinate with them. I put everything except the dresses on one hanging shelf in my closet and that’s the rack I went to to choose my outfit for the day.

I found that made making decisions about what to wear easier each day.

But, I still didn’t wear everything on that rack above. Which, on a deeper note, makes me realize how little we really need in our wardrobes.

Our lives are different, but since I work from home, I don’t need a professional and home wardrobe. I’m still considering pairing back and I’m taking note of what I’m wearing and the things I’m not.

Honestly, I’m okay wearing the same jeans and top a couple days a week. It doesn’t have to be something different everyday, but that’s just me. I was joking with Rhonda that I should do a Reel of “what I wear” and it should all be one outfit!

Don’t get me wrong, I do like to put myself together and feel good in my clothes – this is a process of me learning myself more and more and I’m enjoying getting to discover and be more comfortable with who I really am.

What I Wore This Month

This month, our Houston weather heated up, so you’ll start to see more tank tops and even shorts. But there was also rain and some cool days, so it’s still a combination of warm and cooler weather outfits.

I wanted to wear more dresses this month, even if it was just at home, so you’ll see a few of my Spring dresses too.

One thing I didn’t picture is the Vuori joggers I tend to put on at the end of the day before my pajamas. I have the “charcoal grey” and “lake heather” colors. I’ve been pairing them with an older Loft tank that I love and have in several colors, but unfortunately, it’s sold out. I hope they bring it back soon!

  1. lovely pics…I’ve done and honestly I’m still finishing a serious decluttering into my wardrobe. I’m going to donate a large part of these clothes because they’re still really good

  2. I’ve been trying to do a capsule-like thing as well – it makes you realize how much the closet could be pared down if you purchase the right item (instead of a bunch of almost right items.)

(I like to see bloggers incorporate their older clothes into their outfits, it’s more real-life.)

  3. You have so many pretty ‘date’ dresses. That’s definitely a gap in my wardrobe that I need to fill.
