Most Loved December & Marathon Update
Hi friend! Yay for Friday! Although, we’re still on Christmas break so it’s getting hard to tell the days apart. For you too?
Marathon Update
I am back on my marathon training, so that helps the days stay straight. Today, I’m scheduled for a long run – 10 miles. I go slow so it takes a long time, but I’m happy to get back at it!
I had to take a few weeks off in December because I was sick and that really put me behind for the January 14 marathon. After much consideration, I decided to run the half marathon on January 14 and run a full marathon on March 2. I won’t be ready for the full in January, but the March 2 date gives me 10 weeks to prepare.
My little brother is in my same boat, so we’re still planning to do these runs together. I’m so glad I was able to find another marathon not to far away – it’s in The Woodlands, so about an hour drive from my house.
We’ll just drive up that morning so that we don’t have to go the night before and get a hotel. I am a little concerned about the cold weather for the January 14 run. It’s getting pretty cold here and I hate being cold!
Everyone says it’s great to run in cold weather, so we’ll see. In that race, people layer up and then shed layers on the streets while precious volunteers pick up the discarded clothing to donate to homeless shelters.
If you have marathon training tips for me, I’m all ears. I am reading this book and it has helped so much!

The Woodlands Marathon is a great one! Great organizers. Not as well fan-supported as Houston but still a great race. I have run Houston in every kind of weather, hot, cold, pouring rain. Just get sweats, gloves, hat at Walmart and ditch if you get too hot. I keep the gloves the whole time, my body gives up on my hands when I’m running, ha. Good luck!!
