Hi friend!  I hope you’re having a great week!  My kids were off school on Monday and we were treated to a really warm and sunny day.

We had a slow morning and went swimming in the afternoon.  It gave me a taste of Summer and let me just say, it tasted good!

We still have 22 more days to go, but who’s counting?! 😉

Drybar dryer brush SET

I shared this combo during the Sephora sale, and the discount is still good now!

You get all 5 of these hair products for $155 ($255 value), $100 off!

  • Half Shot Small Round Blow Dryer Brush
  • Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep
  • Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray
  • Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo
  • Drybar Hair Clips

Before trying the Drybar dryer brush, I had been using the T3 dryer brush.

The T3 dryer brush has 15 heat and power settings, but it’s longer in size and heavier.

The Drybar dryer brush is smaller/shorter/lighter, which I realize now makes it a lot easier to manage and maneuver.

If it’s hard for you to control a hair dryer or dryer brush, I recommend you use the Drybar one because it’s easier to work with.

It leaves your hair looking like you just stepped out of a salon with volume and shine!

PRO TIP: let your hair air dry some, and/or bend over and dry the roots of your hair with a regular hair dyer first to get some of the dampness out.

Then, use the Drybar dryer brush and make sure you use tension on the hair while drying.  You’ll get a perfect looking blowout with this method, and in less time.

I used these products and the blowdryer brush to get this smooth, but still voluminous blowout.

The Prep Rally spray protects your hair against heat damage and strengthens your hair for superior flexibility, strength and texture.  I like how it helps eliminate the frizz my hair is prone to.

You spray it onto your damp hair and then comb in through from root to tips.

Then, I sectioned my hair with the hair clips to make each section easier to deal with while blow drying.

The Drybar Dryer Brush has a high/low and cool shot setting.  It’s easy to handle (shorter than the T3, which makes it easier to hold), and it gives such a precise blowout in a short amount of time due to the strategically placed vents.

It’s a 2 1/4 inch round brush that works well for both short and long styles and all hair textures.

Finally, I spritzed my hair with the Triple Sec Finishing Spray to give it a light hold and added texture.  It also absorbs light oils, but for day 2 and beyond, I’ll use the Detox Dry Shampoo.

KVD Contour Palette

I ordered this contour palette during the Sephora sale and have been using it this week.  First, the packaging is so cool and I was surprised at how large it is.

You get 6 shades total: 3 signature highlight shades and 3 contour shades. You can swap out the shades or refill them as needed.

The colors are all matte and highly pigmented, blending easily into the skin.  The ingredients are free of parabens, cruelty free and vegan.

Walmart Towels

I can’t stop singing the praises of these inexpensive, but department store quality towels.

My mom, kids and I were at Walmart on my birthday, and when my mom was off shopping, she picked up two of these towels in silver for me.  She surprised me with them when we got home.

At the very first use, I was crazy for them!  They are absorbent right away without having to wash and dry them a million times.

They feel terrific on and the size and weight is just perfect – not too small/big/heavy or light – just right!

After using them for several months, I bought two more in silver for my bathroom (now I have 4 total).  And I bought two blue ones for James’ room.

James is picky about his bath towels.  He’s been using the same two towels for years and would never let me replace, even with the Target ones I originally bought for his bathroom years ago!  Those were the ones we were using until now.

All that to say, he donated his old towels after trying these Walmart towels.

Paige High Rise Straight Ankle Jeans

I just ordered these jeans in both light blue (“park ave”) and white and haven’t received them yet, but I’ll report back.  I’m sure they’ll be shorter on me (5’1) than on the supermodel, but with the raw edge hem, that’s nothing a good pair of sharp scissors can’t fix.

I’ve had good luck with Paige jeans in the past and like that these are a high waist and straight leg.

Drapes

I saved the very best for last!  I’ve been wanting to hang drapes in my bedroom for awhile now, and finally got around to it!

The shades in my room were there when I moved in, but they allow light to seep in at the sides and bottom so I was hoping the drapes could help keep some of that light out.  Also, I knew that the drapes would soften the room and draw your eye up to the high ceilings.

I found these drapes on Amazon and the quality is SO GOOD!  They are pinch pleat cotton drapes with a gorgeous linen texture.  These babies are heavy and ABSOLUTELY STUNNING in person!  They are light filtering, but not black out.

And note, they are heavy!  We ended up having to add two brackets in the middle because with just one, the bracket started to bend!

I ordered the color beige white which looks like a soft white in person.  I was nervous about how they’d look with the darker shades, but I really love the contrast.

For my room, I ordered two sets of 58w x 120L and then trimmed them with scissors and hemmed them with iron tape.  You better believe I was sweating cutting the fabric.  In the end, I’m so please with how they turned out.

You can see the whole process from hanging the rod to hemming the drapes on my Instagram Story Highlight “Drapes”.

I plan to do a full room tour later this month, but for now here’s a little sneak peek!

  1. Megan, do you think it is normal to shop as much as you do? I don’t mean the things that you “have to buy” to try on for your posts ; you often specifically mention items that you buy to keep. For example, how many pairs of jeans does one person need?? You referenced two pair in this post and each costs over $200… each… for everyday jeans that look like all the others you already have. In today’s world of need and intentional living that you often reference, I wonder how you reconcile your spending/heavy shopping? It honestly feels a little uncomfortable for me when you reference such higher cost items so casually and in such frequency.

    1. It’s Megan’s job. I’m a teacher. To me, her job is a dreamy one! I don’t think her job is an easy one either. It’s fair to say that what Megan advertises is her business where one can tune in or don’t look her way.
