Holiday Home Tour

Hi friend!  Sorry I missed you yesterday.  My daughter wasn’t feeling well and that threw my day all out of whack. Thankfully, she’s much better now and back at school.

For many of us with kiddos, it’s the last school week before Christmas break!  We have a 4-day week and Friday is the class parties and Advent calendar.  My son has mid-term exams, but we definitely already have our minds on the holiday break.  You too?

HOLIDAY HOME TOUR

It’s our first Christmas in our new home and I can’t wait to welcome you inside!  I’ve always loved decorating for the holidays and don’t waste any time digging into my decor bins right after Halloween!

This year, when I started unboxing our stored holiday decor, I realized that since our home is configured differently and we lost the formal dining room, we actually have less spaces to decorate.  I ended up going through every bin and donating the things we wouldn’t be using.  And, I hardly bought anything new!

I was left with many less bins of Christmas decor, but the amount that felt ‘just right’ for this new home.  And I know that when I go to put everything away, it won’t be so overwhelming with less bins to fill and store.

Most of our decor is from Amazon, Target and World Market and I tried to link everything I could find.  If you have any questions, let me know in the comments and I’ll answer!

I adore our bright front porch with the herringbone stone pattern and the blue/green/grey door.  The color is Magnetic Grey by Sherwin Williams and the color seems to change based on the lighting and time of day.

I simply added my Amazon wreath and a potted branch display I found at Target.  I like having the live greenery there.  On the opposite side is another tree in a galvanized basket, but I didn’t get a pic.  Oops!

Christmas Crate

Beginning in December, we always leave snacks and drinks out for our delivery drivers.  They work so hard all year long, but especially this time of year.  The darling wooden crates are from Michael’s and on sale now.

The big bowl on our table is from a succulent delivery I got years ago.  I just added vase filler that I got at Hobby Lobby to the bowl to make it look like a festive centerpiece.

KITCHEN & DINING ROOM

In the kitchen is where all the holiday baking takes place and Jordan and I have already been making plenty of messes while we’re at it.

I wanted to add a big wreath to the wooden hood, but I couldn’t find one large enough to fit the scale of the hood.  Instead, I just sprinkled in vases and branches, vase filler and of course, candles to warm up the space for the holidays.

I absolutely adore this Willow Tree nativity scene that I got last year on Amazon.  Each piece is hand crafted and painted and I know they’ll be in our family forever.

One of the things I did buy this year is the red fair isle utensil holder from World Market.  They actually had a whole set of coordinating dishes that I was also tempted to buy- they were so cute!

I had a lot of fun decorating the open shelving in the kitchen for Christmas.  I kept the color palette neutral with the black, green and white with touches of gold and love how it came together.

DINING ROOM

We will be hosting Christmas dinner here this year, but I haven’t set the table yet.  For now, I just have one of my favorite holiday decor centerpieces on the table.  I scored this candle holder at the Nutcracker Market many years ago.

We have a mini tree on top of Luke’s crate.  I really like the shape and style of this tree and we decorated it with red and white ornaments.

One of the things I loved in my old house was the large space under the curved staircase that was perfect for housing a large Christmas tree.  We don’t have that space here, so we put our smaller skinny tree here as our main tree.

I had to laugh when I noticed the train is off the track!  Isn’t that how the holidays often go – off the rails!!

I’m using our bar cart to make a festive holiday scene when you enter the house.  This little tree looks so cute lit up at night with the twinkle lights.

The O Holy Night sign is one of our favorite decor items.  I got it years ago at Magnolia Market in Waco.

LIVING ROOM

I’ve been debating adding a console table behind our sofa, which would give us more decor opportunities, but for now, I just have this vintage bench from Pure Salt Interiors and the woven tassel blanket that I got on Amazon.

We’ve had our stockings for a few years now.  I got them at a great price when I caught an after-Christmas sale, then took them to a local shop to be monogrammed.  We added a little L stocking for Luke this year too. I need to get a K one for Kitty!

Our Elf has been making his way around the house.  Buddy doesn’t do anything dramatic, it’s fun enough for Jordan just to look for where he is each day.

I really liked my old upholstered coffee table, but it had seen better days with stains and such and was also a little bit big for the space.  I LOVE this round coffee table from Crate & Barrel.  It’s gorgeous in person and the round shape is nice with all the square edges we have in this room.

The very first thing I put up this year was the framed photos of the kids with Santa over the years.  I LOVE looking at those and they make such a pretty statement on the living room shelf.  It’s so fun to see how the kids have grown and changed throughout the years.

In our half bath is a framed art from a couple years ago at Target, a little Christmas tree and the fraiser fur oil diffuser that smells just like a real Christmas tree!

The hallway landing upstairs is the perfect spot for our console table and another little tree.  This one I decorated with our wooden and metallic ornaments.

I didn’t put a tree in my office this year, just these two cable knit snowmen I got from Target several years ago.  I think I’ve had them since Jordan was a little baby.

The holiday decor in my bedroom is simple also.  I just switched out the seasonal branches in the large vase and then added a small flocked Christmas tree.

Isn’t Luke so adorable in his holiday dog collar?!  I also got him a doggie jacket, but it hasn’t been cold enough to wear it.

Our holiday home feels like it gets simpler every year and maybe that’s because my bandwidth has decreased.  It still feels warm and cozy and looks festive enough for us.

I especially love it when it’s cold enough to put the fireplace on.  There’s something so comforting about relaxing by the fire any time of day!

  1. I love it! I love how you added red and how it’s simple, but pretty! I have a couple questions. Where did you get your dining room table chairs? Also, can you share a photo of the table beside your island? Is that for Jordan? I’m moving soon and thinking that I might need something like that in my kitchen. Merry Christmas!

  2. Love your holiday decor. Your home feels so fresh, sunny but yet cozy. Love all the little touches sprinkled around your home.
