Hi friend! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I kept it low key, just a couple of nights in, running some errands and binging on This Is Us. I’m on Season 4 and every episode is full of heartwarming surprises.
JANUARY LOVES GIVEAWAY
As a THANK YOU for reading and subscribing to my blog, I’m giving away EVERYTHING in my January Loves to one of my subscribers!
If you’re not subscribed, you can sign up here, and I will pick a winner at random and announce at the end of the month.
If you’re new to Loves, it’s where I share things I’m loving each month, with the aim to highlight fabulous things I swear by, some things I want to try, great deals, and under $50 finds! All perfectly appropriate for the flavor of each month! I love sourcing goodies and sharing them with you!
I spent much of Christmas break blissfully makeup free, so I felt very put together when I started getting fully ready last week when the kids went back to school. This month, I’m giving away two of my makeup faves that I use everyday.
The first step in my makeup routine is concealer. Some people like to apply concealer after foundation, but I prefer to apply it before.
I’m so happy Tarte came out with a creamy formula for their cult favorite Shape Tape concealer.
The original formula is great for younger skin, but looked and felt too heavy on my skin. This creamy formula doesn’t make me look older, instead it brightens my under eyes and highlights the bridge of my nose, without settling into my fine lines.
Pro Tip: A little goes a long way, so start sparingly because it’s easier to add than take away.
This contour and highlighter duo is what gives my face definition and a subtle glow.
Just remember, the darker shades ‘hide’ areas and the highlight ’emphasizes’ areas.
To get the look, starting with the contour shade, use an angled brush to apply it along hairline, just below your cheekbones from your ears to the middle of your cheeks, and also under your jawline. That will make those areas recede.
Apply the highlighter to the top of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, just under your brow and even on your cupid’s bow for a poutier lip.
I love how you can subtly build the shades and they’re universally flattering for all skin tones.
Of course, prepping your skin is essential to better looking makeup. I was talking to Rhonda the other day and she had just tried the Colleen Rothschild Micro-Mineral Scrub (on sale!) and was raving about it. I love it too and was saying, I don’t think I talk enough about it here!
Consider this scrub an at-home alternative to professional microdermabrasion treatments. It has micro-mineral (ultra-fine) crystals that you apply to wet skin and gently scrub in a circular motion, avoiding the eye area.
You don’t have to press hard- the crystals do the work. You’re left with refined texture, unclogged pores and a brighter complexion because the dead skin cells are buffed away.
Have you ever tried a jade face roller? I keep mine in my bathroom and had gotten away from using it, but I moved it to the counter to help me remember. It feels SO GOOD on your skin!
You roll it up your face and it helps smooth the skin, reduce puffiness and dark under eye circles, relieve facial tension, sinus pressure and headaches by stimulating blood flow and oxygen.
I’m hooked on it now and use almost every morning. It’s under $17 PRIME.
I’m most excited to give away my beloved wifi digital camera! Whether you’re a pro or total amateur photographer, you will LOVE this camera! I have a big digital camera, but I rarely use it because this one takes nearly identical quality photos.
Rhonda takes my blog pictures with this camera and I also use it for decor photos. It’s easy to travel with because it’s really small and lightweight.
Even on the “auto” setting, it takes fantastic pictures. The pics are even better than the iPhone, and then you can send them to your phone over wifi- so convenient! It also takes videos and has a flip screen.
You might remember I took our holiday card photos with this camera! ♥
I can’t wait to see who wins this month’s giveaway! It’s so fun when I get to notify the winner! They are always so surprised and appreciative! What would you like to see in next month’s giveaway?
Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!
