This & That 12.15.17
Hi friends! Welcome to Friday! Yay! It’s been a long week and we’re looking so forward to the weekend! I’ve got all kinds of things on my mind, so it’s perfect for a random This & That post! I’ve heard from so many of you that let me know you enjoy these kinds of posts, so I plan to keep them coming. The OCD part of my brain prefers to post about one type of thing in a post that I can neatly put into a single category, but I created a This & That tab for that purpose, so that helps!
Favorite Things
If you’re wondering what the FAVORITE favorite thing from our party was, here’s a clue:
My friend Angela brought this gorgeous solution- a hair tie bracelet! It’s the brainchild of Maria Shireen, who found that the elastic band she wore around her wrist was an eyesore and left a dent around her wrist. Her husband solved the problem, and did it with style! He created a bracelet that eliminates the pressure around the wrist and turns a functional hair tie into a stylish accessory by creating a channel that holds the elastic hair band in place. #genius!
This one is hammered gold and on sale for $19, but they’re having a sitewide sale with 25% off and FREE shipping on orders over $50!
I realized they have kids (wrists 4.5-5.5), teens (5.75-6.5) and women’s sizes (small, medium, and large). My wrist is 5.5, so I ordered the teen collection of three- on sale for only $10!  I think it’s be a cute gift for my nieces and teacher gift too!
Speaking of hair, on Stories y’all voted 60%/40% for me to get a haircut and I listened! I got 3 inches trimmed off and the face framing layers cleaned up. My hair had a lot of breakage around the face, but it’s finally grown out to about chin length, so I think it will look good when I curl it. I went to my friend Jose at Galleria Hair Salon who has been cutting my hair since I was pregnant with James! Chris at M Salon does my ‘melted’ color. My friend Renee did my color when I was bright blonde and she put in my extensions when I had them. I ended up wearing extensions for a couple months, but took them out, so this is my real hair now. I’ll need to update my hair curling tutorial now that my hair is longer, although I still use the same technique.
Balloon Sleeve Sweater 50% off • Grey Jeans • Booties 40% Off • Bag • Snowflake Necklace
I’ll need to update my hair curling tutorial now that my hair is longer, although I still use the same technique. The style is the same as it was ‘before’ it’s just healthier and easier to fix now.
By the way, this Wubby Fleece Pullover is amazing! Take about cozy goodness! It’s got this plushy fleece outside and a super soft tee shirt lining inside. This size small is a little big on me, but they don’t come in XS. #boo!
Naughty or Nice
And now, we’ve seen Santa not just once, but twice! First was when I volunteered at James’ school for the kids to get pics with the Big Guy and give him their Christmas Wish Lists.
Tunic XS (50% Off) • Jeans 33% Off • OTK Boots 55% Off!!
Don’t you just love it when a kid dreams big?! 😉
Here’s a better look at my tunic, y’all have been loving. It’s candy cane striped with an extra red hem detail on the sleeve and down the sides. I love that it’s long enough to wear with leggings, but also looks great with jeans. I normally wear Petite at Loft, but I’m in a regular XS here and it fit great!
Then, on the weekend we went to the Spring Creek Grower’s Breakfast with Santa. They are 4th generation farmers and grow and harvest approximately 20 acres of Virginia Pine and Leyland Cypress trees during the Christmas season. The morning included brunch (that we missed because we were late!) and photos with the best Santa and Mrs. Claus, a hayride into the tree farm, a treehouse storybook reading with Santa, and an opportunity to play on the riding toys at the farm.
Plaid Top (25% Off)• Jeans (33% Off) • Boots • Similar Packable Jacket  (40% Off)
How good does that Santa look, right down to his rosy cheeks and bells on his boots?! James took a front row seat!
Jordan was a little less impressed and just wanted to run around in the trees!

Plaid Top (25% Off) • Jeans (33% Off) • Boots • Similar Vest
But, I must say, we are loving this colder weather! Houston is so hot and humid for most of the year, so when the temps dip into the 4os and 50s, we’re all delighted to feel like it’s winter!
Sweater (50% Off)• Similar Scarf • Sunglasses • Hat (50% Off) •  Ring • Necklace • Leggings • Boots (55% Off) • Bag
Below is one of cutest and best priced faux leather jacket around. At under $100, you can’t beat it with all the little details and the shrunken shape. It runs small though, so size up!
Outfits Lately
With those colder temps, I’ve been staying cozy in my pullovers! This Patagonia one is my favorite and fits me better than the Wully Fleece Pullover I showed you earlier.
Pullover • Jeans (33% Off)•  Boots
It comes in a ton of pretty colors and I’m tempted to get a second one! Which color is your fave?
I’m so thrilled to received the Barrington Bag I designed. I got the Savannah Zippered Tote which is a great size for everyday running around. It’s lightweight, zips close and has an inside pocket. Deciding on the design is the hardest part! I went with the leopard print and a pink/red stripe with a monogram for my blog, HWH.
I have the larger St. Anne tote, which is awesome for traveling, but too big for me for an everyday tote.
Originally, I thought I needed the St. Anne Petite (I mistook the petite for the Savannah Zippered Tote). But, when it arrived, I quickly realized it was way too petite! It looked like a bag for Jordan! She thought so too!
I was cracking up at how she stole my bag! But, I ended up exchanging it for the Savannah Zippered Tote and it’s the perfect size! I’m so happy with how it turned out and the pop of leopard will go with so much of my neutral wardrobe!

WATCHING
First up, if you follow me on Stories, you know I have two new best friends, Jinti and Chris. They are a minimalist, vegan family from Australia that has been traveling the world with their toddler. I’ve been following them on YouTube and I’m obsessed! Although their life is very different from my own, I’m completely intrigued and love seeing how content they are with their simple lifestyle. And, because they are vegan, I’ve been getting some new food ideas from their channel too. They’re also on Insta.
I’m making these vegan Bliss Balls for snacks/treats at home.

READING
On my BFFs (see above) suggestion, I started reading The Miracle Morning this week. I’m only about halfway through the book, but it’s already changed how I view waking up in the morning and how I start my day. The premise of the book is to wake up earlier so you can do one or all of the following ‘SAVERS’ 1) Silence 2) Affirmations 3) Visualization 4) Exercise 5) Reading 6) Scribing. Â
via Alycia Skousen
The highlighted passages about resisting waking up have totally changed my attitude about mornings. Although, I have been an early riser for exercise in the past, I never thought about hitting snooze and staying asleep as being a way I was resisting life until I read these paragraphs:Â
Really provoking point of view right? If this is at all interesting to you, I’ll keep you posted on my journey and report back. I’m glad I’m starting this now as opposed to waiting until the new year because life is really new each day and doesn’t “start” in January. We can take charge of every area of our life- spiritually, emotionally, healthwise, etc. starting now! 🙂

I need to watch your hair tutorial again because I always think how lovely your hair looks (and I’m the worst at doing my own!). Love the Santa pictures and I would snatch up Jordan’s red peplum sweater in an adult size small if I could. 😉 Have a great weekend!
They have the cutest kids clothes! Especially for girls! The good thing about the curling tutorial is that I can usually refresh the curls to look pretty good on day 2 and 3 too!
I’ve seen those ponytail bracelets before and have been wanting to get one!! Such a good idea!
Hi Megan, I am curious about the color of your Loft candy cane striped tunic sweater. Is it blue red, true red, or orange red?
Great question! It’s a true red, not orangey at all!
Lovely photos and very nice letter to Santa Klaus:D
Definitely saving that one!
What lipstick brand and color are you wearing in the photo where you linked the balloon sweater, gray jeans, booties and snowflake necklace? It is a bright pink.
Thank you so much for posting what you are currently reading. I have been struggling with early wake up times and have been searching for motivation/help with waking up early! The paragraphs you posted have really resignated with me!! I’m hoping this will help change my mindset and get me up & moving without hitting that snooze :).
I needed that motivation too Marina! Here’s to starting our day off right!
I love the variety of your posts. Thank you for sharing the information on mornings. I would love to hear more about your journey with this new perspective and will give it a try too.
I’m looking forward to seeing what changes it inspires. I think even if you only have a short time to commit in the morning, it’s still worthwhile!
Love the butter top! Totally worth the price– great quality! I got mine in the mail last week and it’s great for a post-prego tummy! I am 5’6, normally 130 (currently 147) and got a medium … I’m pretty confident I’ll continue to wear medium once I’m back down to my normal size with skinny jeans. ?
That top has been on repeat here- it’s SO soft! Hope you and baby are doing fantastic!
