Can I just say you made my hubby’s day with your responses to his post yesterday?! Â He usually prefers to stay behind the scenes, but he is so cute and so much funnier (and more sarcastic) than I am, so I’m glad you got to see some of that yesterday! With enough crowd encouragement, maybe I can persuade him to make another appearance in the future!
We finally got some sunshine around here, so I feel like we’re officially on Summer break! Â Yay!!! Just in time for the occasion, I have a sunshiny, cute and casual outfit to share with you today. Â And it also happens to feature my favorite new distressed white jean shorts.
The white distressed shorts are high-rise so they keep you nice and tucked in, and are on sale for $29! I saw that the sizes on these are limited though, so you might want to look at the BLANKNYC white cutoffs (which are the same brand as my favorite boyfriend jean shorts– I sized down 1 in those), or these STS white denim shorts with a raw hem.  That pair ($39) got great reviews for being comfortable and opaque with a little bit of stretch, but a couple reviewers said to size down. Â
How fun is this yellow ruffle peplum top?! Â It’s nice and loose fitting, but still super cute and flattering with a pocket. Â I’m wearing XSP, but think I could have actually gone with a regular XS because I wouldn’t mind it a tad looser across the chest and a bit longer. Â Since it comes in 7 colors, I’m going to order the coral next in XS and will report back! Â
I’m kind of obsessed with this comfy wedge sandals too.  You might have seen their expensive twin sisters (Adalyn Espadrille Wedge with 88 positive reviews) and the sweet perforated version, but this pair I’m wearing I ordered online from DSW and it’s equally adorable for under $60!  They are actually quite comfortable and easy to walk in. Â
I’ve been a little concerned about what we are going to do all summer, but so far, we’ve just been hanging out. Â Maybe next week, we’ll start to make some plans.
I’m looking forward to the holiday weekend and I’m continuing the red, white and blue 4th of July theme (see the red look yesterday) with one of my favorite colors for summer and year round- white! Â If you look inside my closet, white and grey are probably the most prominent colors you’ll find, but with those neutrals, you can dress them up with any color. Â Y’all saw both this white peplum tank and white eyelet dress with adorable tassels in my latest Dressing Room post, but today, I’m styling them up for the weekend with some fun accessories.
We’re getting in the swing of things over here! Â James loves his new teacher, which is always a good thing, and I’ve dried up my tears and am trading them…

Could you start tagging your lip color in your posts? Always love the color!
I was just thinking I need to do that! I’ll have to make a note of which color I’m wearing. The lipstick in this post is http://rstyle.me/n/cja2aapz4e in ‘Baja Bound’. It goes on matte so sometimes I’ll use a sheer gloss on top.
I’m sad to say I will be recovering from a tibial plateau fracture this summer. On the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, I was hit by a car while crossing the street at work. It was a hit & run, if you can believe that. I had surgery to repair it a week ago (1 plate, 4 screws) and am non weight bearing for 8 to 12 weeks. So I thank you for your fun, bright & cheerful blog, always filled with great ideas, whether it’s fashion, home design, or fitness. It brightens my day to check in here & see your beautiful photos.
Julie! I can’t believe that happened! I’m glad you are okay! I’m sending you all the get-well wishes and hoping you fully recover soon. I’ll be thinking of you!
