Hello friends! I’ve been a busy bee working behind the scenes to clean up my blog and make finding my content easier for you. I’m definitely type-A when it comes to organization, so having clearly delineated categories for all of my blog topics has been on my ‘to do’ list for awhile now. Whether you’re here for fashion, fitness, home decor or baby tips (or a little of everything!) you will be able to click the categories at the top of my blog and search through all the posts related to that topic from newest to oldest. I even made a new ‘this & that‘ category as a catch-all for those random girl-talk posts where I share everything from boot organization, how to keep hydrangeas alive, where to print your photos, books I’m reading, outfits, etc. I’m happy to hear that you like those posts and so do I! I plan to do one at least once a month from now on.
Heading into this 4th of July weekend, I wanted to have some fun with a nod to patriotic fashion, highlighting those all-American red, white and blue colors. Today, we’ll kick it off with a fiesty and firey red!
It seems like everyone is crazy for a maxi dress this time of year and I am too! I have this same maxi in a blue and white print, but I love this vibrant red color for the 4th! It’s a great soft fabric with a flattering v-neckline. I love that you can wear a regular bra with it, although a racerback will help you from having to pull the straps back.
It runs true to size, and because it also comes in petite (I’m wearing PetitePetite), I didn’t have to get it altered! #bonus! If red isn’t your color, it also comes in 5 other colors, including blue, which would also be perfect for Independance Day.
If you’re heading to a 4th of July party and want to look dressed up, but still comfortable, this is a great dress for you! I always get tons of compliments when I wear it.
But if you’re going to a casual outdoor bbq or out to watch fireworks with the kids, you can throw on a patriotic t-shirt, jean shorts and cute sandals and be ready to rock the 4th!
How cute is this USA tee? I found it at Nordstrom and this Stars & Stripes tee also caught my eye. The red sandals are new from Sam Edelman and have already been on repeat. The red looks a little on the orange side, but they still go with so much in my closet. They are a quality pair that will last for ages and are comfortable for lots of walking.
Of course, you’ve seen these jeans shorts already – they are my Must Haves this year since replacing my old trusty jean shorts that I got post-pregnancy. I love the relaxed boyfriend style and the perfect amount of distressing. They are short, but also loose fitting, so they don’t feel like booty shorts to me. They run big and I sized down 1 size to 24.
We haven’t 100% decided what we’re doing for the 4th yet, but I’m still looking forward to it! It always feels like the summer is in full swing by then and we are definitely more relaxed now than when school first let out.
I hope the new changes to my blog are helpful! I didn’t want to change the look too much so that you still recognize what you’re used to seeing, but wanted to dust off the cobwebs and clean it up a bit for ya! I think it feels all fresh again! And for you old timers (love you so much!), do you remember this logo from 2010?
