Our Kitchen (From Inspiration to Reality)

When we decided that we were going to build a home, I started scouring blogs and design magazines for inspiration.  I recently came across two magazine articles that I had torn out and showed to our builder as the inspiration for our current kitchen.  I can’t remember which magazines they came from, but I’m thinking Traditional Home and Kitchens & Baths.

Based largely on these photos, our kitchen was born!

Absolutely gorgeous kitchen! Went from wonderful inspiration to fabulous reality!! Hardwood floors – excellent, pendent lights – excellent, big windows – excellent, island – great, all great stuff! What a wonderful outcome! And I’m sure a lot of work! Enjoy how beautiful it is!

So beautiful! How have your marble counters held up? We take care of our things, but do cook a lot, so I'm not sure if marble would stay looking good in our house. . .but I sure ~love~ it! I'd love to know your experience with it, how it ages, patina, your take on the pros/cons, etc. Thanks for your great blog!

  32. September 29, 2011 / 4:00 am

LOVE all of these images. I think I used YOUR kitchen in my inspiration list 🙂 We updated our kitchen when we moved in, but I'm dying to do a major (knock down walls and start fresh) remodel. I'm pinning this for when the time comes.

I love your blog & kitchen! Now that you've lived in your house for awhile, I'd love to see a post on things you might have changed when building it. Like floor plans, countertop colors, paint colors, etc.

Magnificent. You took those pages that inspired you and turned them into something real, something that you can be proud of. Your new kitchen is stunning, and it's all thanks to the ideas and work you put into it.

I have been really wanting to redo my kitchen for the longest time now! I have so many great ideas. The only problem is, I don't have a lot of money to work with! Are they cheaper ways of renovating, or is everything pretty expensive?
