A Superbowl Party

A big congratulations to Green Bay, winners of Superbowl XLV!  Although I’m not a huge sports fan, I still get emotional at the end of the game when the big winner is announced and I see the joy and pride on the faces of the players and fans.  Then I feel so bad for the losing team!  image We hosted a small gathering at our house, for our friends and their little ones.  We had about 15 adults and a small playground living room full of kids, most of which were around age 2.    Needless to say, we enjoyed image and image The menu consisted of typical game day fare: a variety of chips, dips, spinach and artichoke dip, and chili cheese hot dogs.  The table cloth is a discount fabric cut to fit the table. image No Texas football party is complete without 7-layer dip (refried beans, avocado, sour cream, green onion, olives, tomatoes, cheese) {thanks Stace!}  image image image  via Simply Recipes And of course, something sweet to top it all off!  Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownies are the best! image Being busy with James and the party, I missed most of the commercials.  Many of the adults with children left about halftime, so I got to see the awesome performance by the Black Eyed Peas and Usher.  Did you like it? image

See I knew we should have gone with the seven layer dip! I thought the sound was really off during the black eye peas show, but I loved the people a lit up!

fun – love the 7 layer dip, my gaucamole went bad… so my dip was less than 7, but we still had it! LOL The chili cheese dogs look delish and I loved the BEP performance (but agree with Kendra the sound was awful), I so want to go to a concert now! Is it bad that my 3 and 6 year old knew most of the words to the songs??? 🙂

Looks like you guys had a great time! Yummy food!! Loved the half-time show, but also agree the sound was awful.

Looks like you all had a blast! The chili dogs looked great. We did watch halftime. I usually like Fergie, but she sounded waaay off…maybe b/c of all the running around??

Looks like a great party. Our local grocery store was completely out of almost all cheese yesterday afternoon by 3pm. Wonder why?

That's the most attractive chili cheese dog I've ever seen!
And I second your comment about the Ghiradelli's… the BEST!

We didn't watch any of it. We're not football fans + we don't have cable. I'll probably watch the *best* commercials on YouTube today.

I heard the Black Eyed Peas stunk!? Too bad… I like them.

Your food looks awesome. Wishing we had chili dogs too. I enjoyed the half-time show. Always do because I am so bored by the football game, I am happy for any real entertainment by half time!

Looks fun! Where did you get that adorable layered trivet? I want! 🙂

I was out shopping the first half of the game, but made sure to be back by half time and I'm so glad I did! It was one of the best half times I have seen in a while!!

Looks like you had a fun party, yummy food!

Your display is just perfect! Love it!

I'm a lifetime football AND Green Bay Packers fan, so even though I was snowed in and didn't really have any good food, it was one of my best nights in recent memory! GO PACK GO!!!

I was actually really disappointed with all of the Super Bowl's musical acts (Lea couldn't find her pitch, Christina forgot the words to the National Anthem, and the Black Eyed Peas were in serious need of autotune) but it was still a great evening! I can't wait to host our own Super Bowl party next year (assuming they figure out all this labor stuff)!

AMAZING halftime show! Love all your photos! Making those pom poms for riley's tea party. . .were they hard???

  30. February 8, 2011 / 2:25 am

Those brownies ARE the BEST! Sorry, but I thought the BEP were terrible. The audio was off, just kind of blah. I thought GLEE's halftime performance on their show was SO MUCH better.
