More Chevron Love

My husband and I had a chance to take an overnight trip last weekend sans baby for our anniversary.  It was just a little road trip, but it was wonderful!  On the way home, we stopped at the infamous Buc-ee’s Truck Stop in Luling, Texas.  My hubby had to have their “beaver nuggets” and beef jerky (a must on all road trips in Texas, right?!) For those of you like me who were previously unaware, a beaver nugget is a mix between cracker jack and corn pops- a puffed corn coated with a sugary caramel glaze.  They are pretty addictive actually. image But, forget beaver nuggets, look what I found there- this hand carved chevron cutting board! image Who knew a truck stop sold such fabulousness?!  I was giddy with excitement!  And since I just blogged about the chevron rug and plates/mugs, I realized I must be on a zig zag kick lately. Here are the Mikasa plate and mug in person.  I snapped a picture so you could see how small the plate is.  Certainly dessert size, but so pretty!  image Here’s some more chevron love around these parts. My Blog Header image Our living room and breakfast room rug (Crate & Barrel Island Honey Chevron Rug) image Fabric-lined tray image image And while these aren’t chevron, I just had to include the cute paper straws I found over the weekend at a local shop. image p.s. On a totally random note, while on our trip we got into an elevator with Jennifer Love Hewitt and later we saw Ricky Shroeder walking into our hotel as we were leaving to go to dinner.  Weird to see people you “know” but they don’t know you!   Has that happened to you?

    Ok. You are cracking me up. First a shout out to the chevron. Love it. A friend was just telling us that she met JLH at a spa she had gone to and hung out with her in Hawaii. So funny you just saw her, too. Girl gets around! 🙂

    I sure do love Bucce's too!! On my way to Houston I always stop at the one on I45 outside of Madisonville. Ever been to that one?! It's AMAZING! I could do all my Christmas shopping in that store! Seriously! And they never charge me for my fountain drink, not sure if I just get lucky or what the deal is.

    Girl, I am so jealous you spotted some celebs! It makes my day when I see someone famous! I hope bought that cutting board- fantastic. I guess I should shop in gas stations more often!
    Also loving that rug in your breakfast area, I am looking for a new one for our den and that one just might work!

    My husband always can pick out celebrities and it has happened on quite a few of our trips, I must be oblivious. But we've seen Jason Priestly, Dennis Rodman, and the guy who plays the coach on Friday Night Lights. It is so weird because you think you can just have a conversation with them as if they would have any clue who you are! 🙂

    I can appreciate the weirdness of "knowing" a celebrity, but them not knowing you 🙂 Our country club is brimming with them and we pass and make nice. Until one day they are comfy with your face and stop and say "HI", pass a Smile and you realize they are "just people", like you and me.

    And I'm lovin' the chevrons!!!

  29. Cassie {Hi Sugarplum!}
    December 14, 2010 / 6:15 pm

    How fun to run into them. When we lived in Nashville, we ran into people all the time. I always tried to play it cool, but inside I was giggling!

    And I wore my hair crazy short as a kid (I refused to brush it, go figure) — and people always told me I looked like ricky shroeder!! That's okay — emily clark told me I looked like carrie underwood today…so BAM, take that grade school haters! 🙂

    hope you had the best weekend!!!

    How funny, the way those straws are leaning they almost look 'chevron' patterned 🙂 I'm thinking I don't care what pattern they are as long they are helping me to slurp up a pretty little cocktail right about now….

    Ah, I love Buc-ee's! The B nugs aren't for me, though. I love all the jams and jarred goods that they sell!

    The curiosity is killing me–where in Houston did you pick up those straws?! I must go there! haha 🙂

    I just happened to click on this post when it was in the little "you might also like" square. I'm from Luling! Born and raise, graduated high school from there with 78 people! My parents live one exit up from Buccees and every time I go home I have to stop.

    Anyway, I just had to say that since you gave a little shout-out to my hometown. =)
