Travel Essentials

Hi friend! I hope you’re having a great week! We’ve been staycationing for Spring Break, but I’m thinking of travel plans for the rest of the year.

Elliott’s gift to me for my birthday is a roadtrip to Fredericksburg (just need to plan when we’ll go) and we’ll be staying with his parents in Galveston for a few days in early June.

My son and I have taken a mother/son trip for the past two years, and it’s always a highlight of my year. I’m not sure where we’ll go this year, but possibly Chicago. That was one of the places we almost went last year. So far, we’ve been to Minneapolis and Miami.

If you have upcoming travel plans, here are some of the essentials that I find make traveling smoother.

1 • This is an awesome silicone bottle set that also comes with labels (so handy!) and the clear zipper travel bag. It also has travel sized bottles for perfume, scoopers and toothbrush covers.

2 • This toiletry storage bag has several clear zipper compartments for holding ALL your travel essentials.  It folds up compact with a carrying handle, but the best part it has a hook to hang on a door for easy access.

3 • An eye mask like this one with memory foam cushion blocks out the light and helps you rest easy on a flight or in a room that isn’t pitch black. It has a comfortable adjustable strap to fit perfectly.

4 • My daughter loves this pillow/blanket set so much. The soft plush blanket folds up into the zipper case creating a pillow, but you can also use the blanket to keep the chill off.

5 • Never underestimate the power of packing cubes! Since Ali-Shaun brought them to our first annual Favorite Things Party, I don’t travel without them.  They keep your things compact so they fit better in your suitcase and better organized.  I take an extra for dirties so I can easily throw that bag into the laundry room when I return home.  I also buy different colors for each member of the family so we can easily identify whose is whose.

6 • This little passport book has been so handy throughout my trip and definitely while we were in the airport.   It holds your ID as well, with additional card and cash slots, plus a pen loop and place for sim cards.  The flap is magnetic and stays closed. 

7 • I have found this silicone brush holder to be extremely useful for holding all my makeup brushes and keeping them in good shape. The holder is sleek and minimal with a magnetic closure and holds a ton!

8 • DELSEY is top notch quality and will be your favorite luggage for sure! It’s functional and so stylish! You’ll be amazed how lightweight and durable it is and the three dial combination lock is TSA approved.  They roll like a dream making it super easy to glide with you as you walk.  Inside are two lined compartments and straps to keep your items secure.

This luggage is so high-tech that it even comes with a built-in tracking device in case your luggage gets lost. And it comes with a 10 year limited warranty.  

I have both the big size for larger trips when a carryon just won’t do and also a carry on that fits in the overhead compartment on the plane.

9 • This is a dupe for the popular Calpak Luka Duffle. The Calpak is higher quality, but this one from Amazon is good too. It’s roomy inside and holds a ton!  The storage is functional with the rectangle shape, large inner compartment, outside zip pocket and a side zip and slip pocket.  The back sits perfectly on top of your luggage and the shoulder straps and nice and comfy.

If you’re going for quality and want to spend the extra money ($128), I’d opt for the Calpak Luka Duffle. The Amazon dupe is only $48.

10 • A travel mirror is perfect when the mirror in the bathroom isn’t ideal – sometimes too high or poor lighting or too many people trying to use the bathroom at once. This lighted mirror folds up nice and compact and has three light settings that are dimmable by touch.

11 • And yes, we want to be cute and comfy when we travel. If you want to skip the leggings, this zippered pullover and pants set from Amazon is a good option. It’s super soft and will keep you warm in places that get too cold. It comes in a ton of colors and fits TTS.
