Happy Halloween friend! Welcome to a fresh, new week!
HALF MARATHON RECAP
I have good news for you – I ran my half marathon on Sunday and SURVIVED! It was so good to get out there with over 3,500+ other runners and feel their energy and dedication to a single purpose. It was really hard, and we ran a double loop on Allen Parkway, which has hills so my quads were on fire.
I’m really proud of myself and I pushed hard to run the entire 13.1 miles. I started with a steady pace, and felt really good at mile 5, so I pushed harder because I realized I could finish around 2 hours and 15 minutes or so if I ran faster. I took my Gu packet and picked up the pace. Another Gu at mile 9 and then it started getting so hard. Miles 11, 12 and 13 were so hard but I kept telling myself I only had 30 minutes to go! I wanted to stop and walk, but I kept running.
“Don’t stop, keep going, do not start walking, you’ve come so far. Keep going!!!” That’s what I kept saying to myself.
I finished at 2:22, a time I’m very pleased with. That’s an average pace of 10’54 minute/mile, and my usual is about a 12 minute mile.
In April, when I ran 13.1 miles by myself, my finishing time was 2:49, average pace 12’54 minute/mile. I’m super happy with that improvement. It’s true that the energy of the other runners gives back to you and it helped that the weather was much cooler, around 60 degrees.
These kinds of challenges give back to you in ways that are much more than physical. They prove to you that you can do hard things, things beyond what you think you’re capable of.
I listed to music the whole time, and some of the songs were so perfect for what I was feeling in the moments. I started with “Good Morning” by Mandisa, and there were several other upbeat, fast tempo worship songs in my lineup. It makes me so GRATEFUL for this life, grateful for the physical ability to run and to get to do this. Thank you Mom for coming over at 5:30 a.m. to watch the kids.
There was a blind runner that I finished right behind. He was tethered to a guide and they finished strong, so very motivating and inspiring.
I don’t think I have a full marathon in my future, but I would like to do another half. The big one in January is so cold, but I’m considering it!
Thank you so very much for encouraging me along the way. It really kept me going and accountable. I appreciate you so much! ♥
YOUR PERFECT WHITE T-SHIRT
I’ve been cleaning out my closet in order to minimize my things and also so I can share a new closet tour with you. While I was going through my things, I came across my three favorite white t-shirts.
Each of these is a perfect basic for your wardrobe, each with it’s own unique benefits, and all very affordable . I’ll show you each one below, tell you while I like it and show you how it works as a layering piece.
ONE | ABERCROMBIE DRAPEY V-NECK TEE
DRAPEY V-NECK TEE
This tee is always in heavy rotation for the relaxed fit and chic style. It’s a perfect v-neck that shows just the right amount of neckline, but not too much. It’s call the “drapey v-neck tee” and it does live up to its name with that perfect drapeness, if that’s a word. The material is super soft (95% viscose, 5% elastane) with a good bit of stretch and curved hem. It’s easy to front tuck and opaque over a flesh-toned bra. More colors available. On sale!
Fits TTS, I’m wearing XS

TWO | GAP MODERN V-NECK T-SHIRT
GAP MODERN V-NECK T-SHIRT
This Gap tee is the one I’ve had the longest, probably going on three or four years and it still looks great! I do machine wash and dry my tees. It’s a more fitted tee with a slim silhouette, but not skin tight. It has a deeper v-neck, but still not too revealing. The material is on the thicker side, so it’s nice and opaque, being a soft pima cotton, model and elastane blend.
This one isn’t the drapey style like the one above, but rather more of a classic fit. It still great tucked all the way in, especially with skirts. It has nearly 1,000 positive reviews and comes in more colors. On sale!
Fits TTS, I’m wearing XS – also comes in regular, tall and petiteT
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25
Gibson Blazer (code HONEY10)

THREE | AMAZON ESSENTIALS CLASSIC V-NECK T-SHIRT
AMAZON ESSENTIALS CLASSIC V-NECK T-SHIRT
Last but certainly not least is my favorite Amazon v-neck tee. It’s so bright white and crisp looking, I always feel fresh when I wear it! It has a little higher neckline, so the most conservative of the bunch. It’s perfectly soft and stretchy, being made of a cotton/model/spandex blend. This tee is also a great value at just $18 for 2 (at least that’s the price as I’m typing this!). It comes in tons of colors and has over 36,000 positive reviews.

I know y’all love seeing Kitty (& Luke), so I added these pics since she was hanging around while we snapped these photos! She’s been coming inside to sleep the last couple of nights, but usually prefer to be outside during the day.
I still adore her so very much!

Thank you so so much Lisette!
Great job putting mind over body! So hard.
Congrats on the race.
Love this series on basics. White tees – essential but so difficult. Love this!
In the future can you show the length of the tee’s NOT tucked in? It would be great to see them as they fit in total.
Thanks for the great content!

That’s a good idea Carla. I’ll show untucked next time. 🙂
