Hi friend! I hope your week is off to a good start. All is right in my world again now that my kids are here and we’re enjoying the slow time off of school. There’s something that feels like a huge exhale after the main event of Christmas is over. There’s not as much on the to-do list, it’s more of an ‘enjoy’ list right now.
We’re still baking and decorating cookies and in cozy movie mode and I’m loving it. In time, I’m sure I’ll be ready to take down the Christmas decor and get a clean slate for the start of the new year. I always love that part of January.

For now, I wanted to share the two rugs I recently added to our home. When I started decorating for the holidays back in November, I wanted a serene, relaxed vibe in the living room with neutrals, dark green and a pop of leopard.
I removed the pink rug that sits on top of the big flat weave rug we have in the living room. That living room rug has been here almost 12 years and I should probably replace it by now since it’s seen better days, but I like the look and feel of a rug layered on top of another rug.
So, I hopped online at Walmart to look for a nice, neutral rug that would add that layered look and also be functional for sitting on since we often play games on the living room floor.
It can be difficult to choose a rug online since you don’t get to feel it and you’re seeing the color through the lens on your computer screen. But, big rugs are heavy and I know I can easily return it (in store or ship) if it doesn’t work out.
I was pleasantly surprised at the awesome selection and great prices when I shopped the rug section at Walmart. They have a ton of pretty, neutral styles to choose from. So many that I ended up being torn between two styles: the Mark & Day Veneburen Bohemian/Global Area Rug in Charcoal and the Mark & Day Carter Bohemian/Global Area Rug in Cream/Beige.
Both of them had great reviews on Walmart’s website and they were both under $200 for an 8×10! If you’ve shopped rugs recently, you know that’s a really good price!
When they arrived, I unrolled both of them and couldn’t decide which I liked better!
The Mark & Day Veneburen Bohemian/Global Area Rug in Charcoal is a 100% wool, modern style rug with a geometric knotted pattern throughout. It’s a combination of grey and cream colors, and both stain and pet friendly.
I ended up loving the way this rug looks in the living room and decided to keep it here. It’s a perfect compliment to the other neutral tones in the room and will go with whatever colors I may add to the room in the future.
Although I planned to pick the one rug I liked best and return the other, I kinda fell in love with the Mark & Day Carter Bohemian/Global Area Rug in Cream/Beige too. It’s a soft, plush rug with an abstract pattern and leans on the creamy/tan side. It has an almost 2-inch pile that gives it that a lush, cozy vibe.

I love it in Jordan’s playroom! It gives the room added texture and feels so good underfoot! We do “special mama/Jordan time” throughout the day, that’s 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted play time, whatever she wants to do. Most of the time it’s coloring, playing kitchen or games, so this room gets quite a bit of use.
So, long story short, I’m keeping both rugs. I like both of them and think they found a good
Both of these rugs are available in lots of sizes, even runners and round. The rug collection by My Texas House is good too if you’re looking to update the rugs in your house. That definitely helps give the house a refresh.
I also picked up this modern velvet frame and it looks great on the media cabinet. I found a few more Walmart home items that caught my eye and in the collage is the frame I bought. I’m still waiting to get the picture of me, my mom and Jordan for it!

Dang! I hate that! Looks like the one in Jordan’s playroom is still under $200.
Agree, the site pricing is over $300.
Beautiful space! The price of the rugs has increased so much since this original post though 🙁
