May Beauty Haul

Good morning friends! I feel like yesterday was the most productive day I’ve had in a long time! A long weekend always throws me off! But I was determined to GSD yesterday, so I made myself get out of bed at 6:30, went for a run, got goodies for the end-of-year teacher gifts, and picked up groceries all by mid-morning! I’ll count that a win!

Today is shaping up to be just as busy!  I’ll be finishing up tomorrow’s Dressing Room post with new styles from Nordstrom and Old Navy.  But first, I wanted to let you know that the Colleen Rothschild Moisturizer Sale is LIVE NOW!  All moisturizing products like the popular Retinol Supreme Eye Serum, Complete Eye Cream, Face oil No. 9, Sheer Renewal Cream, and Extreme Recovery Cream are up to 50% off.

You can read more in depth about which products I use, why I like them, and what ingredients they have here.

AND, if you haven’t entered to win my May Loves, there’s still time before I announce the winner on Friday.  All of my blog subscribers are automatically entered to win and you can subscribe here.

Today, we’re talking beauty and I’m sharing some new beauty products I’m trying and some old faves I reordered.

Eye Makeup Remover • Urban Decay Cherry Makeup Palette • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil • Marc Jacobs Eyeliner • Olaplex Hair PerfectorAll Nighter Setting SprayMilk Makeup Lip + Cheek • Translucent Setting Powder • Samba Foot Cream

I was kind of surprised at how quickly everything arrived!  The Samba Foot Cream is the only product that hasn’t arrived yet, I’m not sure what happened or if it’s backordered or sold out or something.  I need to check my order.

But, after doing the Baby Foot peel with great results, I wanted to keep my feet as smooth and soft as possible and this foot cream is supposed to help.  It’s a 2-Step system where you use the “foot smoothing board” to exfoliate and smooth the rough areas of your feet, then apply the “Foot Fetish Cream”.  The foot cream is made with cupuaçu butter, the Brazilian super fruit favorite, for extra moisture.

Everything else got here fast and I’ve already been playing around!  Below is an iPhone pic I snapped yesterday while wearing all the products I ordered. I like the look!  What do you think?

The first thing I always do (after applying skincare) is dot on Charlotte Tilbury Concealer under my eyes in an upside down triangle. I recently went up to Shade 2 in the concealer for a brighter under eye.  I was wearing Shade 3 before.

This translucent setting powder by Laura Mercier is what I’ve been using for years, and I like it so much that I reordered it.  I use it sparingly and using a fluffy brush or damp beauty blender, apply it on top of my concealer.  It sets my concealer in place and helps it stay smooth looking throughout the whole day, without that area getting creasy or adding additional texture to my skin. It has over 8,000 positive reviews so you know it’s popular!

Naked Eye Shadow Palette

Having been a die hard Urban Decay eyeshadow user in the past, this Cherry Makeup Palette immediately caught my eye.  Also, when I bought it, it was 50% off, so that made it a no brainer. I like the pink and rose hued shadow colors and that there is a mix of shiny and matte shades.

For the look above, I used “Hot Spot” all over my lid with a fluffy brush.  Then, I applied “Ambitious” in the crease and into a “V” shape down into my upper lash line.  Finally, I took a blending brush and blended “Turn On” into the lid.  The result is a pretty, warm glowy look, perfect for summer!

Our summers get so hot and humid here that if you go outside, your makeup often feels like it’s melting off your face.  Especially on weekends, I’ll go for a much quicker and simpler makeup look and that’s what intrigued me about the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek.

It’s a 2-in-1 cream blush and lip color formulated with hydrating ingredients for a buildable and blendable color.  I just swiped the color right onto my cheeks and blended with my finger.  I’m not used to creme blushes, but this one went on very natural and blended easily.  I swiped it onto my lips too and the color was visible, but not too bold.  I’m wearing the color ‘Werk’.

I’m CRAZY for this All Nighter Setting Spray.  It literally keeps my makeup looking like I just applied it all day AND it makes my face way less greasy or shiny throughout the day.  When I don’t use it, I’m constantly using blotting papers to soak up all the excess oil from my cheeks.  I never had to do that once with this product.

After you apply your makeup, you close your eyes (try to keep you face relaxed and not squint), then mist the setting spray onto your face 2-4 times, in an “X” and “T” formation.

You guys know I’m really cautious about putting products on my skin because it tends to breakout easily, but I had no problems with this.

I usually use Anastasia Dip Brow (in ‘blonde’) to fill in my brows, but that product comes in a pod and you have to apply it with an angled brush.  I wanted something simpler, so I tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil and it works really well!  The thing I like about it is that it’s two products in one- a spoolie and a brow pencil.

I use the spoolie to brush my brows up and then use the pencil to fill in my brows.  I LOVE how ultra slim the pencil is, allowing you to get very precise and detailed where you want the product applied.

It took me a minute to find my shade.  I tried Soft Brown first and it was a little too dark, but Taupe is my perfect shade.  I can do my brows much more quickly with the pencil than with the Dip Brow.

Like the brow pencil, I have a favorite shade in the Marc Jacobs Eyeliner (“Cocoa” a golden brown shimmer). The gel consistency goes on super smooth and you don’t have to worry about sharpening the end since it’s a twist bottom.

I apply it on my top and lower lash line, then smudge out the lower line with a brush to blend it.  This eyeliner was originally gifted to me by Tarah at our Favorite Things Party two years ago!

I didn’t order the Lancome Lash Primer, but it came in a sample size and I tried it and like it!  It’s a lash-conditioning mascara primer that gives you longer looking and more voluminous lashes- just how I like mine! I applied the primer to my curled lashes, then waited about 10 seconds before applying Milk Mascara.

Now let’s talk about how to get all this makeup off.  Y’all know I swear by the Colleen Rothschild Radient Cleansing Balm and that does a great job at gently removing dirt, debris and makeup with the muslin cloth.  But, I often still have mascara left over that I like to remove with eye makeup remover.

I just started using the Lancome Eye Makeup Remover and it works great.  You gently shake the bottle to activate the liquid, then there’s a little hole at the top that I wet with a Qtip, then swipe over both eyes.  I use the dry side of the Qtip to go over each eye and “dry it”.  This eye makeup remover removes every trace of makeup and I don’t wake up looking like a raccoon.

Finally, I have a hair product for you.  My colorists always use Olaplex Hair Perfector at the salon when they color my hair and most recently Shelby recommended it for me again.  This product isn’t a conditioner, rather, it’s a concentrated at-home treatment that strengthens the hair from within, reducing breakage and improving the look and feel of your hair.

You apply it to your wet hair BEFORE you shampoo and condition.  You can leave it on for 10 minutes or longer, and use a couple times a week for damaged hair.  My colorist said my hair was in pretty good condition, so I should use it about every 2 -3 washes.

  1. I ordered the MILK makeup lip and cheek color in warm spiced rose. I think it will be a soft look for summer. Thank you for recommending this product! ?

  2. I’ve loved the Laura Mercier powder for years now!! I’m currently using Nars concealer. Have you used it before? If so, I am wondering how the Charlote Tilbury one compares to it?

  3. I swear by the Lancôme eye makeup remover! I’ve tried to branch out with cheaper options, but always come back to it. This time, I’ve sworn I won’t stray again, and just bought the biggest bottle they offer.

How do you find the more sparkly eyeshadow? I’m your age and I feel like it doesn’t sit as well on me. That’s been the only thing holding me back from buying the Naked palettes.

    1. Hi Tiffany! I actually like the shimmer shades! I often add a bit of a neutral shimmer to the middle of the eyelid to make the eye appear brighter!
