What a great weekend! We got our first legit cold front with temps dipping into the 40s, which made us southerners very, very happy. In a month, you might hear us moaning, “It’s so coooooold!” #wereficklelikethat But for now, we’re loving it and rejoicing in all the new wardrobe opportunities! I put Jordan in a long sleeve onesie and leg warmers on Sunday morning and when our 6-year old son woke up and saw her, he innocently asked, “Mom, why are Jordan’s legs in casts?” These kids kill me! And now, we’re out for Thanksgiving break (yay!!) so posting will be light this week, but I do have a couple, quick fun things lined up so stay tuned!
I mentioned on Friday that I got my office closet all cleaned out and organized, which is perfect timing because inside my office, I also switched out my old white desk for this gorgeous gold and white lacquer desk.

I’m working my way around our home truly trying to only have things that are either necessary, useful, lovely, and/or that really bring us joy. That’s a work in progress, especially with a son that loves all.the.toys!, but my desk is on board. On it currently sits a spiffy and useful gold stapler, chic Kate Spade Gold Desk Calendar, quirky pens and fun sticky notes, a Like A Boss Mouse Pad, and the most adorable Eat Drink & Be Merry Coaster Set for my water or drink when I’m not using these blush pink and gold tea cups and saucers.

All of those things honestly bring me so much joy just from using pretty and fun paper as opposed to a borning legal pad or mismatched, ugly pens. Isn’t it amazing how using those things can make your actually want to sit down at your desk and get to work?! They are all from the stylish online shop, Mod Cloth. You might remember Mod Cloth from the unique clothing and gorgeous inexpensive, plaid scarves that are so popular:
but some of my favorite things for my office come from their gift shop. I’m all into creating gift guide graphics now, so I made y’all one of my favorite kinds- the gift guide for the office and paper lover. I swear if all I got for Christmas were pretty paper and pens and organizers, I’d be a happy camper! ?
But you may be wondering why in the heck did I change desks when I had a perfectly good desk already?! Great question! I’d been eyeing my current Sugar Paper desk every since it was first released and sold out in a hot minute because I thought the gold would look so pretty with the gold accents in this room. This desk and my old one are nearly identical in width and depth, so both are nice and big, but the main difference (and what made me pull the trigger) is that my old desk has a bar across the bottom that I always hit my shins on. #ouch! I covered it with a pad to save my legs, but it always bothered me. I had it over 6 years and never saw anything I’d rather have, until now.
This new desk is completely open underneath and only has side legs and a gold bar running along the bottom so my legs are free from bumping into anything! When this desk came available again, I quickly bought it online before it sold out, but now it’s unavailable again. ? If I see it come back in stock, I’ll be sure to alert you- the price is actually better than my old desk (which I ended up selling).

And one more thing I found at Mod Cloth are these Wall Vases that I currently have faux succulents in. It will be fun to change those out for greenery this Christmas! I’m already getting started! You can see our Winter Wonderland Christmas decor in the master bedroom here.
I also flocked our big faux tree and put it up, but it’s still yet to be decorated. I think tomorrow we’ll turn on the Christmas music and get to it. I just hope I can keep Jordan away- we might have a bottom naked tree this year!
I love fun office supplies! I, too, was lucky enough to scoop up the Sugar Paper desk this last round, and I seriously find myself staring at it all the time. It's so lovely and well-made and makes me feel very fancy 🙂 Love your setup–and isn't it much better than those boring old desks in law firms?!
XO,
Michele
I love the desk. I'm also a sucker for paper and office goods. It must be the former teacher in me trying to get out.
And the years and years of bare-bottom trees! Thankfully around the time my firstborn came along 8 years ago, they started selling unbreakable ornaments that were pretty. All 3 children are past the "redecorate the tree every minutes" stage now.
I want you to know that I truly enjoy your blog. It's a welcome and relatable respite from the sometimes drudgery of mom-ing. Thank you for what you do.
Your desk is to die for! I hope they release more at Target soon:)
Couldn't agree more..so yay!

I put a foam cushion on that part to save my shins!
