Weekend Steals & Deals | Winter Outfits Lately
How has this first week after the Christmas holiday been for you? Not gonna lie, getting back into the groove again has been kinda tough, but also nice to get up and get going in our days again. Having the house all nice and clean and organized has been a huge help in starting this year off right.
We also started a new routine with our 5-year old son where he’s responsible for getting himself ready in the morning without any prompting from Mom or Dad (but with use of a chore chart) and we’ve had two great days, one close one, and one where he missed it. I know this is a common morning struggle for parents and kids so suggestions and comments are welcomed! I feel like at this age, he’s capable and I know I’m gonna need his help more when the baby comes, so we’re getting started now!
weekend steals & deals
I’ve continued (on most days) making an effort to get dressed, curl my hair and put some makeup on. Feels good after slouching around in pajamas for most of the break! Now that I posted how I left Schlumpakindville, I feel like I need to practice what I preach! How embarrassed would I be if we bumped into each other and I looked a mess?! By the way, if you do see me, say hi! You’d be surprised at how many women I’ve met at Target and Nordstrom!
I’m wearing only maternity pants now (that’s all I fit into) and mixing in some maternity and non-maternity tops with a few accessories. In the pics below, I added non-maternity options in case you’re not also 31 weeks pregnant! I’ll do a dedicated ‘maternity wardrobe’ post soon too because I feel like I’ve learned a few things about how to put together a stylish pregnancy wardrobe without buying very many new things and I know no one wants to spend a fortune on clothes they won’t wear for long. If you have any specific questions, let me know in the comments and I’ll be considering them for the post.
winter outfits lately
At almost 31 weeks pregnant, I’m most comfortable in stretchy leggings, but then again, who isn’t?! The Hue ultra-wide waistband leggings (regular & petite and other colors) are a huge hit on the Nordstrom website by women reviewers. They have over 1500 positive reviews because they hold up great and keeping their shape without fuzzing up. The wider waistband seems to be what most women loved about them because it makes them more comfortable. And they are definitely a steal at only $36!
You can’t go wrong mixing stripes and leopard, and throwing in a bit of red makes the outfit more colorful. As much as I love wedges and heels for the look and height they provide, my Yosi Samara flats are making their appearance more and more as I get heavier. Comfort is king on most days when I have a lot of running around to do. I found the Yosi Samra brand (how cute are the metallics and red?!) more comfy than the popular Tieks ballet flats, but those are super cute too if they fit your foot well. Maybe just because my feet are wide I like the Yosi better. But, they only come in half sizes, so size up if you’re in-between.
Mod Cloth tunic top ($34.99) (Size: Small) | maternity leggings (non-maternity leggings) | similar boots 55% off | similar scarf 50% off, $11.98 | similar wrap bracelet | cluster bracelet | necklace
This Mod Cloth tunic top is getting worn on repeat (it’s the same non-maternity top I wore in our Nursery Reveal photos). It really is a perfect, soft longer-in-the-back (covering rear) v-neck tunic. I just changed out my boots and added a heavier scarf here in blue/brown for a different look. Look, ma, I’m mixing brown and black! This Bobeau v-neck tunic is also great and comes in grey and purple, only $20.30 on sale.
cowl neck top (XS/S) | coat (newer version) (Size: 2) | GAP maternity jeans | bag (similar bag on sale 45% off) | leopard flats (similar) | ring
My ivory Laundry peacoat is a few years old, but Macy’s carries the newer version and it’s on big-time sale (originally $325, now $149.99 with an extra 10% off with code SALE). It also comes in navy or red. The newer version is nice with a zippered detail on the bottom in lieu of a belt.
This cowl neck top is super cozy, it’s non-maternity, but runs big, so even the XS/S gives me room. It also comes in ‘oatmeal’ and ‘watermelon’.
Check out this baby girl belly! #31weeks!
My Kut from the Kloth jean jacket is a few years old and called the ‘Amelia’. It’s one of those purchases that I love and wear all the time, and it’s especially great for wadding up into your tote when traveling or running around and not getting wrinkled. The cool thing about this jacket is how soft and lightweight it is. I noticed the new ‘Amelia’ jacket is a little darker though, but I actually really like the color. Kut from the Kloth also has a very similar jean jacket called the ‘Candace’ that looks a little longer than the Amelia.
Don’t be afraid to mix denim with denim, as long as you mix different weights and washes, you won’t look like you’re in an 80’s sitcom.
v-neck tunic | faux fur vest (Size 2) | maternity leggings (non-maternity leggings) | similar boots 55% off | watch | similar necklace
This v-neck tunic (40% off, 6 colors) is a great addition to your wardrobe because it can be dressed up or down easily and it’s comfy. I dressed it up here with my fave faux fur vest (the black is on sale 40% off). It’s impossible to look like you belong in Schlumpdinkaville when you’re wearing a faux fur vest.
need coffee’ top (Size: XS) | necklace
I thought this cozy shirt (it’s almost like a thin throw blanket material) that says “need coffee” was appropriate this week for sure! The pink one is 40% off.

Meet Megan
Hi! I’m Megan, mom to a thoughtful teenager and spunky young girl. We call Houston home and recently moved into our dream home. I traded my lawyer hat to become a full-time blogger in 2010. I love sharing my passion for affordable fashion, home decor, organization, & fitness to help inspire you to take care of you!
Adorable baby bump! Cannot wait to "meet" her. We have had a couple ladies at Bible study just give birth in recent weeks, and we have 27 in the nursery this year!!! So many babies to love on.
This pregnancy seems to be going by so quickly! It still feels surreal that we will have a baby in our home and just two months. I'm just now starting to get uncomfortable, but I'm really looking forward to a baby sprinkle next weekend that my sister-in-law is throwing. So sweet of her and my friends to do that with me for baby number two.
Great round up! I love that "need coffee" tee! What's the rule with leggings… Some say cover the bum and others say bum and lady bits as well. Is it personal comfort?
I think covering both the bum and lady bits is a good rule of thumb. Although I'm pretty sure I've broken it in the past. I would say I feel most comfortable with leggings and a looser, longer top. That need coffee shirt is a fave, pretty sure I'm about to outgrow it for now though! 😉
Omg the bump is too adorable!! You look fantastic. Have you considered doing a makeup tutorial? I've followed your blog for about 4 years now, and am always impressed by your makeup and skin.
I have a hair tutorial on my to do list, and I could do a make up tutorial as well. Thanks for letting me know what you'd like to see it. It's amazing how much better I look with make up although I'm not the kind of person that feels like I need to wear it every day or I can't leave the house without it. I just look way more awake and refreshed with it. My eyebrows especially, I have to pencil them in because they are really thin. I'd love to share my brow tips especially.
Would love to see a hair tutorial. Your hair always looks so beautiful.
That would be great! And I look forward to the hair tutorial! 🙂
Hi Megan, you are looking so adorable and healthy:). I have followed you for a couple of years now even though we could not be more different if we tried. I am a 66 year old plus sized grandmother, married 47 years (yikes)!! I have a request for you, even though I know you will be busier than ever once your princess is born, lol. Would you consider someday, showing a few plus sized outfits? I frequently shop your recommendations for accessories. I love your style, love Nordstrom's and other stores you mention. Thank you for your consideration and I pray God's grace to you and your precious family:)
Hi Jo! I'm already fond of you because you have my mom's name! Now that you mention plus size, sometimes when I'm sourcing outfits for my blog I do come across plus size versions. I have to add that to the blog list since I know you're interested. It does seem like Nordstrom carries a pretty good selection of plus size clothing. Is there another store you like also?
Great post! Would love to read a pregnancy clothes round up too!!! Having a hard time finding chic things to wear… 🙁
Thank you! I should have the pregnancy wardrobe post up in the next week or two. When I look at my style this time being pregnant versus last, I'm amazed at the difference six years can make. My jeans especially were awful last time! #embarrassed
Ohmygosh, you and that bump could not look any cuter! I adore your pregnancy style!!! And I'm on team 'cover all the bits' with leggings 😉
Come see in person! I miss you!
You look adorable in everything Megan. I can't believe how fast your pregnancy is going. Before you know your little girl will be here! That cowl neck top is so cute. I need more comfy tops for running around and will check that one out. I love the gray and the watermelon color sounds fun. Have a great weekend!
Hi Allison! I can't wait to share some baby girl pictures with you soon! You'll love that cowl neck top, it looks like it might be heavy, but it's actually thin and light weight so it's really easy to wear.
Hey, Megan!
Congrats on your baby girl on the way! You look great.
I'm hoping your system to get your son ready in the AM works… I am looking for something to help with getting our kindergartener ready in the morning. He is such a slow poke! Can you share more about your system?
Thanks!

I definitely will! It's still a work in progress, but it's going much better than before!
