Weekend Steals & Deals
This weekend is the first one is awhile to come quick with the long weekend last week! I’m all for that, but we have a lot to do this weekend so I don’t think we’ll get much relaxing in, except for my Mom’s birthday that we get to celebrate this weekend. Happy happy birthday to the best woman I know! With everything we’ve been through, especially the last couple years, our family has grown even tighter. We love our Mom so much. Of course, today our hearts also go out to our country as we remember 9/11 and all the families touched by that tragic event. Our school is donating money to the cause and we’re wearing red, white and blue in honor of the special day. I’ll be in NY next week and that city is so fierce and lively and vibrant. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the spirit of the city.

weekend steals & deals
As for the Weekend Steals & Deals, definitely check at the bottom of the page for all the great deals I found this weekend. Nordstrom still has 40% off on end of the year clearance until Sunday, so be sure to take advantage of those savings. I noticed it’s not just summery items on sale, but things like NYDJ colored skinny jeans (I have them in 3 colors, but size down, they run big); cashmere/wool scarf wrap (orig $98, now $58.50 and so many colors); Caslon open front card (65% off); and my favorite workout tee (Zella Z5).
I’m super excited to find a great pair of dark skinny jeans with some stretch that are under $40! You never know when ordering online and especially in the juniors department how things will run so I ordered a 7 (thinking that might accommodate my growing belly) and a 5, and the 5 ended up fitting that bump perfectly. But, if I weren’t pregnant, I would order a size down and try a 3 since the stretch tends to loosen as the day wears on. They are long on me, but almost everything is! These jeans are still super cute rolled with booties (I like to see a bit of ankle anyway with that look).
I wore these jeans twice this week already, once when we went to get our first hot Starbuck’s drink of the season. I normally drink coffee at home, but this week I splurged. The pumpkin spice lattes have arrived and I know so many people go gaga over them, but I still prefer a nonfat white mocha. This pinkish (although it’s called ‘Burgundy’) Madison & Berkeley Cowl Neck Sleeveless Top is so comfy and easy to wear. I liked it so much I ordered a second one in blue (that actually looks purple online). It also comes in grey.
Jolt Skinny Jeans $39 | Madison & Berkeley Cowl Neck Sleeveless Top $34 (size reference: XS) | old MK knee high boots (similar) | Stella & Dot Kimberly necklace
Henri Bendel charm bracelet (similar) & Henri Bendel padlock bracelet | old MK Susannah quilted satchel (similar in tote) This bag was a splurge almost a year ago when my girlfriends and I went to Las Vegas to celebrate a special birthday. It brings back fun memories and was well worth it! I’m happy to be bringing it back out now that Fall is here.
I’m not surprised at how much I love this Halogen Side Slit Double V-Neck Tee since Halogen makes my favorite slubby tee, but this one is a little fancier with the double V, side slits and nicer fabric. I’m wearing a small, but almost wish I got the XS or petite though because the v neck tends to show shoulder bra straps if it’s on the big side. I’m wearing it with my new Jolt skinny jeans (size 5), but I’d advise sizing down since they have a good bit of stretch.
Halogen Side Slit Double V-Neck Tee (size reference: Small) | Jolt Skinny Jeans $39
distressd jeans | Halogen Side Slit Double V-Neck Tee (regular & petite) $29 | Ashton leather wedge ankle booties | Gorjana ring | Necklace :: The Golden Slate Flare necklace came in my first Rocksbox set. I couldn’t find this exact necklace available anymore, but the Bauble Bar Courtney Bib necklace makes a similar statement. So cool.
And I think I found a great dress to take to New York next week for the BHG blogger event. This is my first time going and I’m so excited to get a couple days in the city with my girlfriends. I’ve been checking out the weather and it looks like New York is still pretty mild and since we’ll be in one outfit for a very long day, this Leith A-Line Turtleneck dress will transition easily from day to night. This is one comfy dress and comes in grey and black too, but I love the plum for this time of year.
Leith A-Line Turtleneck dress $58 (size reference: XS) | Jessica Simpson Rendell heels (favorite heels of the moment- they go with everything!)
Leith A-Line Turtleneck dress $58 | quilted clutch (similar $24) | Henri Bendel Metropolitan cuff | Stella & Dot Kimberly necklace
I was so bummed that the Pleione Cotton Military Vest I ordered was too big on me on the bottom, just a little too much fabric even in the XS, but the quality was so good that I highly recommend this vest if you’re not petite. Isn’t the olive cute with a striped shirt, blingly necklace and distressed jeans?!
Pleione Cotton Military Vest $88 | striped long sleeve tee $25, $12.49 | Stella & Dot Somerville necklace | distressed jeans (similar here & here) | cute with Steve Madden Hipstr booties
Pleione Cotton Military Vest $88 | Henri Bendel iPhone 6+ case
It’s not huge on me, but even with the cinched waist, I wanted something a little slimmer. I’m looking at this Treasure & Bond military vests $52! (but I thought it looked a bit long for this shorty) or the Gibson Linen vest (but that linen might end up a wrinkled mess). Maybe the Caslon military jacket is the winner. We’ll see and I’ll keep you posted.
Initial Necklace $39, $23.40
And just in cased you missed it last week – My favorite initial necklace finally went on sale!! I wear mine all the time and they make a perfect gift! I’m stocking up now!

That plum color looks fantastic on you!!
I agree the plum is beautiful on you! As for the military vest, you have given me waaay too many choices. I'm in search of a vest as well. I'm thinking about one at old navy that's quilted olive green (not military in detail but color). I have a linen field jacket that doesn't wrinkle so maybe the vest won't either…
