Homemade Gift- Vanilla

Since we went out of town last weekend, my SIL kept James for us and our friends let us stay with them.  As a token of thankfulness, I gave each of them a little gift, which fit their personalities perfectly!  I figured my SIL could really use this after caring for an 8 year old, two babies under age 2, and 3 dogs while we were gone!

Although I simply purchased the gift, I really enjoy the act of giving.  And isn’t it sometimes even better when the gift is homemade?  I saw this homemade vanilla on WhipperBerry and thought it was just perfect.  So easy to make and the adorable fabric label elevates the gift to a beautiful level.  If you go to their website, they have a free printable and explain how they made it.

Are you a fan of homemade gifts?  Do you give them? Like to receive them?  We all know the holidays are approaching and about now seems to be the time I start thinking of gift giving.  I usually buy presents, but I like to include a baked goodie (like chocolate covered toffee) to accompany the gift.

I love the idea of homemade gifts! I'm graduating in December and I decided to give gifts this year to all those who made an impact on me while I've been in college. So I'm making these delicious chocolate almond clusters (thanks to Good Housekeeping) and boxing them up with a bow and a personal thank you! Never in my life would have thought about making homemade 'vanilla extract'. Super great idea!

We did flavored vodka last year for some Christmas gifts. Vanilla and Habanero. They were so easy and turned out so yummy!!! We're definitely doing it again this year. I wanna try lavender this time!

I love the homemade vanilla idea – it will be the perfect thing to round out the Christmas hampers I'm going to be making for friends and family!

Thank you for the idea 🙂

So thoughtful and special to include a handmade gift too! I like to give baked goods too but a live plant or flowers are also really personal and I think always welcome gifts!

Homemade gifts are wonderful. Friends love them and your wallet is thanking you on the way to the bank!

Our plum and fig trees had an abundantly good year so we made plum and fig jelly to give away throughout the year and at Christmastime. (that is if we can stop eating pb&j's everyday..)

I love giving homemade gifts! Every year at Christmas, each of my family members receives a homemade gift from me. They are a lot of work but it is so rewarding in the end. I love this vanilla idea and may try that one out for gift-giving this year! 🙂 Thanks for the post!

I've always wanted to make some items for the holidays, I just have to find the right one! I've seen people make limoncello and delights like that. Could be fun!

I adore homemade gifts, both giving and receiving. It means so much to know the thought, time and effort that went into the making of the gift!

Homemade anything is a great gift…but vanilla? Now that is a thoughtful gift! Definitely something I would use on a regular basis! 🙂

I love that idea–how perfect with a nice baking set or something. I love homemade gifts, and I always tell myself I will make gifts each year, but then I procrastinate. :s

I'm so glad that you got to get away for a few days. That was so sweet of you to think of a gift. You are right about gifts for Christmas, and vanilla would be a nice gift along with some goodies for a few of my friends and family. I'm going to check it out and see how it is made. Thanks for the idea.

For the past two years I have made gifts for extended members of my family to help cut down on the Holiday spending. I have really enjoyed and find it adds a bit of nostalgia to the act of gift giving. It also works out well because most of us already HAVE everything we need so a little something sweet makes for a nice treat!
