I’m in love . . . with a table

I’ve been on the hunt for a dining room table for the formal dining room.  My ideal formal dining room isn’t so “formal” at all, but really just a nice, peaceful space for my friends and family to gather for a meal, dessert, drinks, laughs and good conversation.  I think its also nice to have a special spot for just me and the hubs to enjoy our dinner since our everyday lives are so busy and it’s the perfect time to talk after a long day.  (Of course, sometimes its just as nice to eat pizza out of the box on the couch!)

I wanted a table large enough to seat 10-12 people comfortably for holiday gatherings and dinner parties.  Initially, I thought a round table would be great since that way everyone can easily join in on the conversation, but I couldn’t find one I liked that was big enough, so I decided to save a round table for the breakfast room.

After looking for ages and feeling that the tables were all too formal or ornate or just not what I was looking for, I popped into Restoration Hardware one day on a whim while I was waiting for my “to go” order at the restaurant next door, and spotted the PERFECT dining table- classic and oh so pretty.  I was instantly smitten.  Behold:

Aren’t her legs sweet?  I’m in love with a table, ha!  And we got those same chairs since I thought they went beautifully.  I think the table and chairs will really look nice in the new dining room.  I’m considering trying to apply a nailhead trim to the chairs, but maybe I better practice on something else first since I’ve never done that before!
