We tried to find a babysitter, but no luck, so we’ll be having a night in with the kiddos!  Fine by me because I’m coming down with a cold.  Boo! Valentine’s Day Outfits – Dressy & Casual

Valentine’s Day Outfits – Dressy & Casual

If you read my How to Plan Your Entire Year in Advance post, you know I try to get ahead of the game and get things planned out in advance so I’m not losing my mind later.  I’m happy to report I did pencil in a Valentine’s Day date, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a sitter yet! I haven’t given up hope yet though!

I know a lot of us don’t do much for V-day, but if you happen to have plans for a nice dinner date, I’ve pulled some looks for you that your man would love to see you in,

Valentine’s Day Wish List

Valentine’s Day Wish List

Thank you so very much for all your sweet comments on my hair tutorial and yesterday’s fitness post.  Both of those are things y’all let me know you wanted in on, so I’m happy to hit publish on them!  Today, I have a lighthearted Valentine’s Day post in preparation for the upcoming holiday. My husband calls that week of February a “Triple Whammy” because it’s Valentine’s Day, then Jordan’s birthday, then my birthday, all a few days apart! #poorguy!

But honestly, how hard can it be?!?  I mean, of course I’m planning Jordan’s birthday party and doing the heavy lifting,

Ombre Valentine’s Day Heart Cake & Easy Cake …

Ombre Valentine’s Day Heart Cake & Easy Cake Pops

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! We got a head start on a couple of super easy to make desserts that will definitely delight your little Valentines like they did mine.  I love Valentine’s Day for its simplicity and because it doesn’t take a ton of effort to make someone feel a little more special on this day.  I put together a small basket of goodies for my kids and got my husband something I’m sure he’ll appreciate.  I can’t wait to give it to them!

And even though today’s Valentine’s desserts aren’t “from scratch”, the thing I try to keep in mind when I attempt these endeavors is that they don’t have to be “perfect”

Valentine’s Day Gifts for Her

Valentine’s Day Gifts for Her

I was going to do a “gift guide for him” Valentine blog post and went to my resource for man things, but my husband said, “Guys don’t want anything for Valentine’s Day- it’s not a guy’s holiday.”  Okay, fine.  I’ll do a gift guide for her instead! Take notes gentlemen!

Wardrobe Wednesday | Valentine Outfit for Day & Night

Wardrobe Wednesday | Valentine Outfit for Day & Night

Have you made any Valentine’s Day plans?  We’re keeping it low key and just getting together with my sis-n-law for our nephew’s soccer game and then a group dinner.  They have a little baby and since they don’t live too close, we haven’t seen enough of him.  I see all the picture updates via text and on FB and I have to squeeze those chubby legs soon!  Seeing him only though a phone screen is not good enough!

I put together two Valentine’s Day looks- one fun and casual and another more revved up for date night.  Which one would you prefer?

Valentine’s Day Semi-Homemade Cookies

Valentine’s Day Semi-Homemade Cookies

I think yesterday’s “case of the Mondays” has worn off and I’ve jumped into everything we have to do this week.  Power Ranger party invites have been ordered and a costume for James to wear since he wants it to be a “dress up” party.  God bless my little brother who agreed to surprise the little guy by coming as a Power Ranger.  I definitely owe him one!

I was sharing over the weekend how my house felt like a giant mess (with one room clean!) and it hasn’t gotten much better, so there’s that to deal with.  In my defense,

Valentine’s Day Crafts & Gifts

And just like that, we’re already in February!  Did y’all watch the game last night?  I caught bits and pieces but always watch the half-time show and thought it was great!  Love Missy Elliott- her songs take me back to the 90s, even though those songs she sang were from early 2000s. And they’re still on my iPod!So, this month we celebrate l-o-v-e and it also happens to be the month I turn 40!!  That must be why I remember the 90s like they were only 10 years ago. 😉 Valentine’s day comes first (in less than 2 weeks!), so let me share some Valentine’s crafts and gifts I played around with over the weekend.

Popular Pins // Valentine’s Day Edition

Put me in the camp of, “I like to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but it doesn’t have to be a huge celebration. A small acknowledgement of love is great.”  A little love note, a great piece of chocolate or sharing champagne, a cute nighty, a flower . . .  you get the idea.  I think Valentines are for everyone too- kids, girlfriends, Mom.  I’ve got a few things picked out for my son already. 🙂

Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies

Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies

Happy Valentine’s Day friends!  We are ready for my son’s class party- just bringing sugar cookies and juice, which is perfect for the cutest bunch of 3-year-olds around.  To make them sweeter, I put the cookies in a plastic baggie with a V-day napkin.

I’m really happy that James helped make the cookies and he’s super excited to share them with his class.  Yes, it makes a mess and our floors are still dirty, but I’ll get it all cleaned up this weekend.

I used this sugar cookie recipe and they are tasty!  My icing on the other hand,

Kids’ Valentine Craft – Personalized Gift Bags

Kids’ Valentine Craft – Personalized Gift Bags

My son’s preschool class will be having a Valentine’s party and, over the weekend, we completed a quick, inexpensive Valentine craft for the kiddos.  We made personalized gift bags for everyone with muslin bags, an ink stamp, and red marker.  I got these 4×6 bags at Amazon (25 for $5).

I figured there will be plenty of sweets (I’m bringing cookies) at the party, so we filled the bags with goodies instead- bubbles, kazoo, and foam heart sticker.

We got a little off track while stamping the bags . . .

But that’s part of the fun,

Valentine Ideas (DIY Welcome Mat)

Valentine Ideas (DIY Welcome Mat)

If you’re in the mood for a quick and easy Valentine decor idea, how about creating a loving message at your front door?  I was originally looking for a plain mat that I could paint a big red heart on, but when I found this “key” welcome mat, I figured I could add a sweet message instead.

I’m not sure how practical this mat will be as far as the paint lasting once dirty shoes are scraped against it, but it’s sure cute for now!

I die over this adorable shabby chic wagon from Hobby Lobby.

Handmade Valentine {Heart Magnets}

Handmade Valentine {Heart Magnets}

Hi all!  I’m sending you a big ‘ole fat Happy Valentine’s wish to you today!

I typically like to keep our refrigerator bare, but lately, I’ve found myself wanting to use the fridge to post notes, invites and reminders (truth is, if I don’t write it down, I absolutely will not remember it).  But, when I went to pin something to the fridge, I couldn’t find a magnet in our house.  So while I was at Michael’s picking up some V-Day supplies, I added a pack of magnets to my basket and then glued them to the glitter hearts above and the clothespins below.
