5 Tips for Hosting a Block Party

5 Tips for Hosting a Block Party

Thank you to Pier 1 Imports for partnering on today’s post.

Can you believe we’re almost to summer?!?  I looked up and realized my son only has 3 weeks of school left and then he’ll be home for summer break and we have made zero plans!  Sometimes that works out best though, just to let us relax into summer and once we’ve had our fill of staying in pajamas all day and being lazy bums, maybe sign up for a few camps or something.  I learned my lesson a few years ago not to go crazy committing my son to summer things because that year,

How to Plan a Garden Party

How to Plan a Garden Party

Hi guys!  How was your Monday?  I was a mess, totally exhausted from our girls’ trip that had me dancing and eating Taco Bueno until the wee hours of the morning.  Those kinds of weekends are few and far between so you gotta live it up when the opportunity strikes.  Then come home and die of exhaustion! Like when you need a vacation from your vacation.  #firstworldproblemsIknowI’m better today, and super excited to share all the details from Jordan’s first birthday party. Ever since the party, I’ve been wanting to share with you how I planned our garden soiree and how it all came together.

Jordan’s 1st Birthday Party

Jordan’s 1st Birthday Party

Welcome to a new week, friends!  I was MIA yesterday, buried under piles of stuff everywhere! If you follow me on InstaStories, you’ve seen that our house has been turned upside down while we had my closet repainted as well as the paint on most of our first floor, up the stairs, and hallway (including the doors) redone.  It turned out beautiful, but the house was a disaster in the meantime because I had to pull everything out of my closet and drawers, and it’s been piled into the master bedroom sitting room. Good luck finding clothes to wear lately!

Star Wars Birthday Party & DIY Lightsabers

Star Wars Birthday Party & DIY Lightsabers

Thank you so much for all the kind sentiments recently on our new baby girl. Y’all love a new baby just as much as I do!  We announced her birth and name, but today, it’s all about the first little baby to steal my heart almost six years ago, her big brother James.  His birthday and her due date were just 3 days apart, so we thought we’d be smart and celebrate his birthday the weekend before.  Little did we know she’d come early enough to celebrate it together!  At the end of this post is our very first “family of four”

Super Bowl Party Recap 2013

Super Bowl Party Recap 2013

Did you watch the game last night?! We hosted an annual Super Bowl party and had a fun, full house.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous, perfect for getting some friends together and hanging out in the backyard.  I knew we’d have a bunch of kiddos, so we rented a bounce house for the afternoon.  The kids (and some adults) loved it and bounced ’til dark.

For food, we served a slow cooked brisket and red beans.  The brisket was huge, about 8 pounds, so I was surprised there wasn’t any left at the end of the party.

Our 4th of July Party

Our 4th of July Party

Happy Monday y’all!  We are back from a short trip to the beach and ready for the week ahead, albeit a little sunburned and with a whole lotta sand still left to clean out of the car.  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend and a festive 4th of July.  The holiday may be over, but I wanted to share some tidbits of our party with you today.

We had a handful of friends and their kiddos over, enjoyed a relaxed afternoon complete with food, drinks, blow up swimming pools, and sparklers galore.  Of course, there had to be some red,

James’ 1st Birthday

James’ 1st Birthday

Our favorite little guy turned one!  What a milestone (for him as well as Momma and Daddy)! Of course, we had to have a little party to celebrate the occasion.  We kept the party small, just family, but it was so awesome that all the James’ (I, II, III, and IV) were able to get together for the first time!   We have so enjoyed this first year- it is pure JOY and LOVE and SWEETNESS with baby James in our lives.

A huge thank you to A Blissful Nest for the banner at the top of this post- it made quite the impression as our guests entered the house!

A Superbowl Party

A Superbowl Party

A big congratulations to Green Bay, winners of Superbowl XLV!  Although I’m not a huge sports fan, I still get emotional at the end of the game when the big winner is announced and I see the joy and pride on the faces of the players and fans.  Then I feel so bad for the losing team!  We hosted a small gathering at our house, for our friends and their little ones.  We had about 15 adults and a small playground living room full of kids, most of which were around age 2.    Needless to say, we enjoyed and The menu consisted of typical game day fare: a variety of chips,
