Our Spring Decor & Easy Easter Table

Our Spring Decor & Easy Easter Table

Hi friends! Happy Friday!  I’m so ready to welcome the weekend!  This week after Spring Break has been go, go, go!  I’m ready to slow down and savor the weekend.  It’s another one with nothing on the agenda, and I relish those!

Most of the time our lives are so busy, filled with to-do’s and activities and commitments.  We need that ‘white space’ so we can have time to be still, to ponder, to sleep!

I’ve had a mild headache for the last several days, and I think some extra sleep will really do me good this weekend!

Hello friends!  Yesterday kicked off a brand new month, and I have officially decided it’s time to ACCEPT my new normal, instead of resisting it. Like we were talking about yesterday, I had to stop and pause to take everything in. So much of our normal daily life has been interrupted, so it takes time to wrap your head around it and process the change.

Now, I’m choosing to EMBRACE this time and am learning how to adjust.  Like anyone who has young kids at home, it’s been really challenging for me to work and also to know what I should be sharing.

Thank you to Macy’s and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.  I’m honored to be a Macy’s ambassador and will be bringing you a new post full of goodies at Macy’s for the next five months!

Hello friends!  We’re back from a wonderful Spring Break getaway to San Antonio and it was seriously so awesome to do just a mini trip for a few days.  It’s pretty easy to just pack up and go on a road trip when your destination is only 3 hours away.  The kids had an absolute blast and even I felt like a kid again when we rode roller coasters at Six Flags!

A Pretty Spring Nursery

A Pretty Spring Nursery

Hello friends! We arrived home late last night from our Spring Break trip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado.  The vacation was with 3 other families and it was great to make those fun memories with the (9!) kids! We owe our friends’ Dad big time for generously offering to let us stay at his quaint log cabin! 17 people under one roof!! It definitely takes a lot of energy and effort to travel with young kids, but it’s worth it! I’ll do a full trip recap with some helpful family travel tips soon!

Today, we’re celebrating Spring with a look at Jordan’s nursery.

Easter Recap

Easter Recap

Good morning Sunshine!  Did y’all have a good Easter weekend?  We did!  We are actually still enjoying the Easter break with one more day off school, so I’ll be brief.  I just wanted to share a few scenes from our Easter weekend with you, especially since we got to enjoy it with two kiddos running around this year!  Looking back, last year, Jordan was just a wee babe and now she’s all over the place, full of curiosity and delight!

We took advantage of the warm weather on Saturday and headed to the pool for the first time this year.  I think we have a water baby because she just loves splashing around in the water and we had to drag her away when it was time to go!

10 Ways to Decorate Your Easter Eggs

10 Ways to Decorate Your Easter Eggs

Hi friends!  It was a late night yesterday so I’m late getting today’s post up!  I’ll make it quick since James is home from school today and we get a play day!  I was asking him what he wanted to do today, maybe go to the pool, but he said no.  His first request was to play on the iPad (boo!), but then I suggested coloring Easter eggs and doing an early egg hunt and he’s totally into that!  Yay!  He said he’ll search online for cool ways to color eggs and I had to laugh because that’s what I have for you today!

Little White Easter Dress

Little White Easter Dress

Happy almost Easter friends!  I usually feel like it takes forever for Easter to arrive, and this year, it’s sneaking up on me.  We usually go to church and then have family over for a big Easter egg hunt and lunch or dinner, but I haven’t had a chance to plan anything yet.  I do know that it will be even more fun this year with Jordan and our sweet little nephew added to the family.  He’s just five months younger than Jordan, so it’s lots of baby love over here.

I popped into Target this week for protein pancake mix and walked out with two adorable Easter dresses for Jordan.

Easter Ideas

Easter Ideas

Well, Easter is Sunday and although we definitely have plans to go to church and my mom’s house afterward (and of course outfits picked out!), none of the other fun Easter things that go along with this special holiday have been done.  I haven’t decorated our dining room or table and I still need to put together an Easter basket for our son.  I was smitten with the little bird’s nests I incorporated into our Easter table a couple years ago, but it’s all I can do lately to just browse Pinterest for ideas,

What’s Easter without a new Easter dress?!  Of course, I kid, although even as a little girl, I remember  going shopping for a new dress to wear to church on Easter Sunday.  And then of course we had to get a new pair of fancy flat sandals to go with it.  It was a special event since we didn’t go shopping often or usually dress up for church.  Now, as an adult, I still like to wear a special dress on Easter and I’m seeing the cutest bright, floral dresses which are a departure from the typical white dress I wore as a girl.

Our Easter Table

Our Easter Table

We’re ready for Easter over here!  I’ve got the table all set for Sunday dinner and the Easter baskets filled.  We’ll be having ham, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, cranberry dressing and dinner rolls.  The table is dressed with our wedding china plates that I need to use more often, green mason jars for water cups, and hydrangeas in two shades of purple.

This table was inspired by this floral table runner with a combination of calming green, blue and green that I paired with blue cloth placemats that I’ve had for ages.

Have y’all made any Easter plans?  I mentioned earlier that I am so excited to be having my Grandma visit from California.  We are so close and talk often (she even reads my blog!). She hasn’t been here since my son was about 1 year old, so I can’t wait for them to get reacquainted. It will be even better since they’ll be able to talk to each other and hang out. For Easter, we’ll be going to church and then having family over for lunch and an egg hunt.  No idea what’s on the menu yet . . .

I already decorated part of my dining room,

Easter & Spring Decor in the Dining Room

Easter & Spring Decor in the Dining Room

A bout of sunshine amidst some very cold and rainy days here prompted me to dig into my one small bin of Easter decor. I’m super excited for Easter this year because my grandma is coming to visit from California! 🙂 My dining room had been bare since the new year, so it’s the first room to get new life with the pastel Spring decorations on the console table.

I started with just the two lamps from Homegoods (I had to go to a second store to find the mate, but it was worth it!) and a Homegoods green jug vase with faux purple flowers.

Hi all!  Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend!  We kept it low key, just staying around the house.    Hunting eggs this year was really fun, do the images below look familiar?? 🙂

Inside, I added some Springy branches

and gorgeous purple tulips.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Easter Cookies & Decor

Yay for Easter week, a favorite time of year.  Spring is in the air and summer isn’t far away.  The days are lighter longer and we prepare to celebrate The Resurrection.  Our church always has a great service and I’m looking forward to it and a nice brunch after.  We know Easter isn’t really about bunnies and eggs, but it doesn’t hurt to be playful with those things!

I found the cutest sugar cookies for my son’s class Easter party at Whole Foods.  I hope the kids like them- but I think they will since he already tasted and approved.

An Easter Table

An Easter Table

Can you believe Easter is almost here?  It feels like it snuck up on me really quickly this year, but I’m ready with a simple Easter table for four.  I mostly shopped our home with items purchased from past years to create a setting that is relaxed and casual.

The inspiration for the table started with these adorable miniature birds nested with speckled eggs.  They are just a couple dollars at Hobby Lobby and I like how they add that Spring nature feel.

The floral runner was purchased at World Market a few years back and used in a previous Thanksgiving table.

Our Easter Brunch

Our Easter Brunch

Our Easter weekend felt so good.  As I sit here writing this post I just feel peaceful, relaxed, and so blessed.  Our son is sound asleep for the night and all I can think is “We.Are.A.FAMILY.”  I think because we did so many “family” things with James this weekend, it’s really sinking in that the three of us completely make up our own family.  We (Jimmy & I) are obviously still our parents’ children, but now WE are the parents and the ones driving the car to the zoo and the beach with OUR little guy in tow!  It’s a little surreal when I stop to consider it.
