Hi friends! Are you feeling loved and full?! I hope so! I’m back home from a really nice time at my sis-n-law’s house for Thanksgiving. She’s a great cook, so she did all the heavy lifting and served us a very tasty Thanksgiving dinner, complete with smoked turkey, cornbread dressing, green beans, and cranberry sauce. And the desserts were awesome- chocolate pie with homemade whip cream, pumpkin cheesecake, and pecan pie! You know it’s a good one where everyone naps afterward! Jordan hasn’t been feeling well since yesterday, and she went right down in the pack-n-play for a long nap!View Post
Fall & Winter
When the leaves start changing colors and Starbuck’s brings back Pumpkin Spice Lattes, it’s time to bust out the boots, scarves and sweaters! Layered looks are always more interesting and we sing praises if we actually get to wear our faux-leather jackets here in Houston! I’m sharing my favorite outfits for your Fall & Winter wardrobe here!
Good morning friends! Hope you are having a wonderful week and in full-on Thanksgiving mode! This is the time of year I feel all sentimental and sappy and so extra thankful for all the blessings in my life- including you! If I haven’t told you lately, I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to join me here! It means so much!
Are you guys on Thanksgiving break yet? We’re really getting into that mode over here and were blessed with some perfect weather for taking the kids to the zoo yesterday! It was Jordan’s first time and she really loved the monkeys!View Post
Thank you guys for the feedback on yesterday’s fitness post! It’s so important to our health and wellbeing to stay active and fit, especially as we get older! Because I’m an ‘older mom’ – 42 with a 1 year old! I think it’s extra important for my energy levels to keep exercising. My daughter is high energy and I gotta keep up. Plus, I love running around with my 7 year old!
We’ve started to get our holiday parties on the books and I have two darling and affordable dresses to share with you,View Post
We made it to the weekend after such a loooong week with that time change! I don’t know anymore whether I love it or hate it! It’s dark sooo early, but it’s kinda nice to be able to wake up easier! Today, my mom and I are headed to the Nutcracker Market and it always officially kicks off our holiday season. We’ll be sipping mimosas and shopping and eating and shopping some more! Every year I vow not to buy any more Christmas decor, so we’ll see how that goes!
We’re continuing the cute ‘n comfy Thanksgiving outfit inspiration today with two more budget friendly and extra comfy pair of jeans- the skinny grey pair you heard me raving about in last week’s Dressing Room post,View Post
Can y’all believe that Thanksgiving will be here in just two weeks?!?! It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the year flies by! I’m most looking forward to James being home from school for the whole week and then we can really get our Christmas decorating on! For Thanksgiving, we’ll be heading to my sister-in-law’s house to spend the day with all the cousins. She’s a great cook, so we always enjoy alllll the food and come home and change into our comfy, stretchy pants! Today and tomorrow, I’ll be sharing 4 outfits you can arrive at your families’View Post
We all know by now that there is no date upon which we must surrender our white clothing to the back of the closet, not to be seen again until Summer. You can wear white year round, and I encourage you to do so! White is such a fresh color that looks great on everyone, any time of year! But, there are a few basic things to keep in mind for making it look current and suitable in the cooler months.
The trick is in the materials (think thicker and more textured- your white linen shirt can sit this season out) and how you layer them (bringing in deeper colors and pattern with a scarf,View Post
Hi there! How has your week been? Ours keep seeming to fly by and I’m a little bit in disbelief that next week is already Halloween! I think it’s going to be extra fun this year with Jordan getting to run around ‘trick-or-treating’ and understanding it a little more. I so love this time of year and our temperatures are finally cooling off, so it’s actually starting to feel like Fall here!
For today’s post, I’m trying something a little different and sharing 15 Fall Outfits- complete looks with tops/bottoms/shoes and accessories- with a twist that they are all flat lays.View Post
Good morning friends! Last month, I shared with you a Must Have Fall tunic, and today I have the Must Have Blouse for Fall! It’ll actually be great all year long with it’s lightweight fabric and 3/4 length sleeves. I originally tried on this blouse in green in a recent Dressing Room post, and later I was kicking myself for not bringing it home with me! But, I’ve made up for it now because I ordered it in two colors- the pretty green and this chic black. Do you do that too where you don’t buy something and then it haunts you until you finally give in?View Post
Hi friends! It feels like this week is flying by! We’re already to Wednesday and I’ve worked out twice and we completed a big home decor photoshoot on Monday so I’m feeling like I’m winning at life this week! Ha! Those home photo shoots are a ton of work because you have to get everything all photo ready and that’s no easy task with an active toddler running around! But, I wanted to get some good pictures to share with you and we also photographed my walk-in closet so that I could share all the ways I keep it organized and functional!View Post
Okay, ladies, back by popular demand is my oh-so handsome and witty husband, sharing his recent shopping experience at Nordstrom. I have to say, I almost cried laughing reading this, but keep in mind, I offered to help him before he went!! Are your men the same way?!
Shopping; the stereotype is that men hate shopping, but that’s not exactly true. Drop us in a hunting/fishing/sports equipment store and we’re happier than a pig in you know what; put us on a car lot and we can kill an afternoon no problem.View Post
Well that was a fun Monday! James was home from school for a teacher inservice day, so we made an impromptu day trip to Galveston! We haven’t been since Spring Break and I loooove Galveston in October- the weather is perfect and it’s such a fun, convenient getaway! Even when you step an hour outside of Houston, it feels like going on vacation!View Post
How was your weekend? We enjoyed a pretty relaxing Saturday at home, beginning with one of my favorite breakfast dishes- Pioneer Woman’s baked French toast. I usually save something like that for the holidays, but October has me already looking forward to them! We’re planning our annual pumpkin patch visit with the family for next weekend! I just hope we get some cooler weather for it! Yesterday, I started sprinkling our home with Fall decor and now I’m totally in the Fall spirit! I’ll show y’all on Stories until I can get it photographed for the blog!View Post
Hi friends, happy Friday!! You know what finally feels good today?! Waking up with a fully stocked fridge after being on empty for much of the week! I hate looking into a pitifully empty fridge, so disappointing! We’ve resorted to Uber Eats and Favor so many times this week, which is why I do love those weeks where we have those handy meals on hand. Tonight, I’m even going back to basics and roasting a chicken Ina Garten style and we’ll have it with roasted carrots and mashed potatoes and homemade gravy! I always post a favorite recipe in my HWH Weekend Edition newsletter,View Post
Yesterday, I showed you 10 basic pieces that you can mix and match for Fall, and today, I’m taking two of the pieces (the jeans and long cardigan) and showing how they look on. I’ve gotten lots of questions about that cardigan because it is long and my short friends (hi!) are wondering if they can pull it off. I say YES, because I’m 5’1 and I didn’t think it was too long on me, although it hits me just above the knee.
The longer length works with the thinner material,View Post
I want to start this post with my usual, upbeat spirit, but I can’t just dive right in without acknowledging the tragedy in Las Vegas and the people who lost their lives and their loved ones. It’s such a shame that so many people were hurt and killed so senselessly. Like you, I’ve been following the news and am so heartbroken by the unnecessary losses. My heart goes out to everyone affected and even if you don’t know somebody there, many of us know the town and have lots of fond memories.
It’s an odd thing to try to balance the devastation in the world while still going about our normal,View Post
How was your Monday? Hopefully, not too painful! I kicked mine off with an early morning workout and back at it today! I plan on eating ALL the good food NYC has to offer later this week, so I’m getting prepared now! Did you get a chance to see yesterday’s post with the amazing little black t-shirt dress that’s only $46?!
I’m hearing that y’all love it as much as I do, so of course I had to buy it in multiple colors. #noshame I also got it in navy, which has been coming in and out of stock,View Post
How was your weekend, friends? We had a nonstop one with a birthday party (but you now know my trick on those!), baseball game (almost won), and a girls’ night out to celebrate one of my oldest and dearest friend’s 44th birthday! I can’t believe I can now say that I have 20-year-old-plus friendships! #old Now I’m looking at a short week at home because I’m heading to NYC for the BH&G Stylemaker event. It always feels so rushed trying to get out of town, right?! Thanks to you, I know what I’m wearing for the event,View Post
I get so excited when I find one special thing that checks all the boxes: 1) fantastic quality 2) great fit 3) stylish 4) comfortable 5) multiple styling options 6) multiple colors and 6) awesome price. Those pants in yesterday’s post fit the bill, and so does today’s Must Have tunic!
A flowy and perfectly drapey top like this is your BFF because it’s super stylish,View Post
