The Dyson Airwrap | My Honest Review

Hi friend! If you’ve been eyeing that Dyson Airwrap Multistyler or curious about just what the heck is it, today’s post is for you!

My Honest Review of the Dyson Airwrap

I’ve been partnering with QVC and they let me choose a product to review and share with you every month. When I saw that the Dyson Airwrap was available, it was a no brainer. I’ve been so curious about it, but it’s awfully expensive so I haven’t invested in it myself. I wasn’t sure it would be worth it.

After trying it for myself, I must say, this thing is pretty genius. It’s almost like those self-driving cars. You can absolutely dry, style and curl your hair with the Airwrap doing 99% of the work. How wild is that?!

It’s retailing for $599 and on QVC ($726 value), you can use code HELLO20 to get $20 off.

What is the Dyson Airwrap?

Let’s start at the beginning in case you haven’t heard of the Airwrap or aren’t quite sure how it works.

The Dyson Airwrap is a multi-styling hair tool that is designed to style hair using air, rather than extreme heat. The Airwrap uses a phenomenon called the Coanda effect, which allows it to attract and wrap hair around the barrel without the need for extreme heat or clamping.

This is the part I’ve been most curious about because I couldn’t understand how the Airwrap can wrap/curl your hair without tangling it. It looks like it sorta suctions, but I was anxious to try it out for myself.

Limited Edition Pink & Rose Gold

The new, limited edition Airwrap comes in a gorgeous pink and rose gold color, complete with an onyx and rose case. If you plan to gift it or ask for it for Mother’s Day, it would make a beautiful presentation.

Ease of Use: The Airwrap is designed to be user-friendly, with intuitive controls and attachments that are easy to interchange.

Fast Drying: In addition to styling, the Airwrap can also be used to dry hair, helping to reduce overall styling time.

How Do You Use the Dyson Airwrap?

If you want to see it live in action, I recorded a video of me using the Airwrap on myself and also my mom that you can watch on my Instagram Stories “Airwrap” highlight.

Using the Dyson Airwrap can seem a bit intimidating at first, but with practice, it’s super easy to use.

Preparation: Start with clean, damp hair. You can either towel dry your hair or let it air dry until it’s about 80% dry. Make sure your hair is detangled before you begin styling.

Select the Attachment: Choose the appropriate styling attachment for the look you want to achieve. The Dyson Airwrap comes with different barrels and brushes for curling, smoothing, and volumizing.

Attach the Barrel or Brush: Align the arrows on the attachment with the arrows on the Airwrap barrel and push it in until it clicks securely into place.

Adjust Heat and Speed Settings: Depending on your hair type and the style you’re going for, adjust the heat and airflow settings. Lower heat and speed settings are suitable for finer hair, while higher settings work well for thicker or coarser hair.

Section Your Hair: It’s recommended to divide your hair into manageable sections using clips or hair ties. Smaller sections will give you more control and better results, but I didn’t do this.

I started with the round brush attachment so you could see how full and pretty it dries hair, with plenty of volume. And it dries FAST! This took mere minutes!

Next, I used the wide brush attachment to create a smooth section.

And here’s the exciting part – the barrels that curl your hair!

Start Styling: Take a small section of hair (about 1 inch wide) and hold the Airwrap vertically underneath it. Press the barrel or brush button to activate the airflow and wrap the hair around the barrel away from your face. Hold for a few seconds to set the curl, then release the curl gently.

I stared with the 1 inch barrel, which creates a tighter curl.

There’s a lever for you to easily switch left to right, depending on which direction of air flow you want.Meaning, if you want your curls to go away from your face, you’ll need to slide that lever when you go to the other side of your head.

Then, I switched to the 1 1/2 inch barrel which gives looser curls. Because my hair is so short, it was more like a soft voluminous curl.

Repeat: Continue wrapping small sections of hair around the barrel or brushing it through with the appropriate attachment until all of your hair is styled.

Finishing Touches: Once you’ve styled all of your hair, you can use a light styling product to add hold and shine to your hairstyle. My favorite is the Oribe Dry Texture Spray and Paul Mitchell Hairspray.

Cool Down: Let your curls cool down completely before you tousle or style them further. This will help the curls set and last longer.

My Mom’s Hair

And here’s how my mom’s hair turned out!

Before

My mom has long hair with lots of layers. I used the barrel on her hair dry and it still curled really well.

Isn’t that pretty?! I love the results even more on longer hair!

Is the Dyson Air Wrap Worth it?

Short, honest answer: maybe. Whether you want to invest in this tool will depend on several factors- your hair type, styling needs, budget, and personal preferences.

Here are five things to consider to help you decide:

Styling Needs: If you LOVE having styled hair, specifically curls, but HATE doing it yourself or aren’t good at it, the Airwrap could be a good investment. If your hair is particularly hard to style, or thick and curly, the Airwrap will probably help style it easier.

Time Saved: If curling your hair takes forever, consider that you are likely to save time with the Airwrap.

Budget: Of course, we have to consider the pricey cost. The Dyson Airwrap is a premium product and comes with a higher price tag compared to traditional hair styling tools. Consider whether the features and benefits justify the cost for you. How often are you going to use it? Will you LOVE the results? Is the time and energy saved worth it for you?

While the initial cost may seem high, the Dyson Airwrap is designed to be durable and long-lasting. If you’re looking for a high-quality tool that will last for years, it could be worth the investment.

Remember to use code HELLO20 for $20 off if you’re a new QVC customer.

I’d love to hear what you think. If you have it already, I’m sure you love it! I curled Elliott’s daughter’s hair with it and it game out GORGEOUS!! I’m still waiting for Jordan to let me curl hers with it. Sometimes, she’s really into her hair and styling it, other times, no thanks.

I was fascinated with it and how simple it was to use and so effortless! I’ll continue to use it for sure.

  1. I love the Dyson hairdryer and have always been curious about the Airwrap. It’s tempting…!!!

      1. Thanks for the link.
        It is fine.
I shop every now and again on their site.
Your hair looks wonderful with the tool.

  2. I must to confess this is a product that seems really interesting, but I have no patience with hair, usually I use brush and with a pony tail:P…But a friend of mine that loves hair cuddle maybe can fall in love with it!!!

  3. I have been using my Airwrap for a few years now. I am completely hooked on it. It dries my hair so much faster and with less damage than the previous hair dryer/curling iron combo, and looks way better. There are a couple things to know– you definitely want to use it on damp hair. I’m not sure if your mom’s hair was damp. I do spray it right after with hairspray and then wait 15 or so minutes before finger brushing so the curls aren’t so tight. Also, you cannot travel internationally with this. It is not dual voltage. I was able to use it on one cruise vacation, but another time it didn’t work even with 110 voltage. I was afraid I fried it, but it worked fine again at home. I would say it’s worth it!!
