I spent the last two days at our local Nordstrom going through all.the.things so that I could bring you the best of the best, without wasting your time on things I didn’t think you’d love.  I’ll be honest, even for a long-time blogger, this sale is a beast!  I was overwhelmed with it all and how fast things were going at my store!  I noted *HIGH SELL OUT RISK* where I thought it was applicable so you could grab those things now before they sell out. 

To try to make it easier for you, today and tomorrow, I’ll share some of my early favorites with real try-on sessions from the Dressing Room with styling recommendations and fit tips! Let’s dive in to today’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale try on haul!

My Size Reference: I’m short (5’1) and petite, athletic build, weighing about 110 and wear a 34D bra.  I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XSP in tops and dresses.

And for your ‘foundation garments’ definitely stock up on these while they’re marked way down:

Comfiest Seamless Undies –  You’ll barely know they’re there and they stay in place all day

Prettiest T-Shirt Bra –  The lacey overlay is thin, so it won’t show through your t-shirts.  It comes in sizes 30A-34G and offers just the right amount of lift and support.  The bra runs small though, so you may want to size up.

Pretty Thongs –  For your sassy side, they come in a rainbow of 21 colors and are great even under tight workout pants or leggings because they don’t show a thing!

BAREFOOT DREAMS COZY CARDIGAN

CARDIGAN FIT:  I’m wearing XS/S and it fits true to size with some room for layering.

There’s also two NEW Barefoot Dreams cardigans added to the sale this year- the hooded cardigan and the fuzzy pocket cardigan.  

The Vince Camuto Kochelda Boots are beautifully designed with artful stitching down the side and a small cutout at the back of the knee for easy walking and sitting.  The cutout is slight though, so it won’t gape open.  The heel isn’t too high, but enough to give you some lift.

SARAH STRETCHY SKINNY JEANS & SLIM OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* These skinny jeans are a great value from the sale (only $41!), and are sure to sell out fast! They’re a mid rise with quite a bit of stretch and nice darker wash.  These were my friend Ali-Shaun’s favorite pair too!

JEANS FIT:  These are quite stretchy so I’d size down one.  I went from my normal 25 to 24 in them.

You can never have enough basic tees in your closet for wearing alone now or layering in the Fall and Winter.  This one is my go-to for quality and under $20. Bonus: there’s a pocket and it comes in multiple colors!

TEE FIT: TTS, XS

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* One of my favorite boots from the entire sale are the sleek over-the-knee boots. They are slim and hug your leg without being constricting. The pointy toe elongates your leg, but the heel is on the shorter side and slightly chunky so you won’t feel inappropriate wearing them for all occasions.

TREASURE & BOND PANAMA HAT

Don’t forget the hats when accessorizing for Fall!  Not only do they add a punch of pizazz to your outfit, they also disguise your Day 3 and Day 4 hair! I love the fabric and shape of this larger brim hat- and a good hat can be hard to find.  I can’t wait to get the tan one too!

HAT FIT: When I first tried on this one, I was so disappointed because it was too big!  Then, I realized that the hat is adjustable! #genius There’s a string on the inside so you can customize it to fit one size fits all!

Come fall, we’ll all be wanting to throw on our lived in plaid button down tops.  They’re a workhorse in your closet because they can be worn alone (tucked, tied or untucked), with a vest, cardigan or jacket and work well with jeans, leggings, and skirts!  I like to get a few in different colors, but of course the black and white stood out to me.  It’s also super soft!

This Moto jacket is so chic! I instantly felt 10 times cooler when I put it on.  It’s got great details from the zipper on the sleeve to the quilting on the shoulder. It’s a crop length so it will make your legs look longer in jeans and skirts.  But, I love pairing a leather jacket over a feminine dress for an unexpected twist.

JACKET FIT: I sized up one so it wouldn’t be too constricting across the chest, wearing US 4

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* Of course I beeline for boots and booties every year.  This cone shaped bootie with a v-cut front made my list of “Must Haves.” That little V is magic for elongating your leg line and letting a little bit of ankle peek through.  They are flattering on everyone, but especially on us shorties.  I bought them in black and tan. They’re also quite comfortable and the cone heel is fashion forward.

BOOTS FIT: I sized up half because they run narrow.

BLANKNYC makes a great quality jean and I’ve always been impressed with every pair I’ve owned.  This more relaxed pair is begging to be worn on lazy weekends.  The wash is a mellow blue and the hem has a raw edge.

JEANS FIT: TTS. 25

The waffle knit henley is soft textured goodness and such a pretty pink!  It also comes in black and white.

TUNIC FIT: Runs big, I’m wearing XS, but would prefer XXS or XSP (which it also comes in, but didn’t have at my store)

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* I was lucky to get these Sam Edelman Caprice knee high boots in my size before they sold out!  My store only had one size 6 in the store left! They’re perfect not only with jeans, but also leggings and dresses.  I love the light neutral color that will go with so many things in your closet.  The style is clean and unfussy, with a block heel that’s not too high and not too low.  The boot hits me right mid-knee and I’m 5’1.

Every year I make sure to have a nice pair of black skinny jeans in my closet. They are an instant hit for date night, but also pair really well with all the neutrals in your closet, including brown and tan.  This pair is phenomenal and a great at a great price only $41!  They’re nice and stretchy, ultra comfortable and definitely slimming.

Lots of you will be smart to stock up on coats and jackets during the Sale, and this one definitely caught my eye.  It’s a smart style and the glen plaid is a classic.  I like the double breasted buttons and midi length.

SKINNY CARGO PANTS

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* I really dig these skinny cargo pants.  They’re super comfy and stretchy and fit perfectly everywhere with no gaping in the waist!  You can dress them up or down and I bet they’ll become one of your wardrobe staples.  At under $50, these will go fast too!

PANTS FIT: Runs big, I sized down one to 24 Petite.  I can wear them cuffed for a little ankle peeking out.

Good vibes only!  Here’s a tee you can wear right now with your jean shorts and sandals!  Then, wear it under a jacket or cardigan in the Fall.

This wedge bootie wasn’t my favorite in this light grey color, but it also comes in other colors that I liked better.  I liked the wedge style and slight v-cutout on the side.

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* I have several military jackets in my closet, but not this one! 😉 It’s more of a button down shirt fit with a pleat in the back and relaxed fit.  It’s one of those pieces that’s versatile for throwing over a top when it’s chilly, but not downright cold.  It also comes in camo!

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* I’m doing a little happy dance over this one!  I’ve been looking for a coat like this forever and finally found it.  It’s got high-tech PrimaLoft insulation that keeps you super warm, but won’t take up a lot of room in your suitcase.  I love the elastic binding at the cuffs that cinch with a cord to keep cold air out and the high stand collar and cozy hood protects your neck and head from the elements.

It comes in regular and petite.

There’s tons of good athletic wear in the Sale, but I haven’t had a chance to really dig in and sort through it all yet, so that will be coming soon.  For now, I liked these Zella crop leggings.  The color is divine and really unexpected in a legging, perfect for Fall.

I liked the tank okay, but I prefer my tanks a little on the looser side usually.

*HIGH SELL OUT RISK* Aren’t these Adidas sneakers so cool?!  I’ll wear these for workouts, but also just casually on the weekends, running errands or to the grocery store.  They are lightweight and cushiony with a wide toe box that feels great on a wider food.  They also come in a pretty, light neutral color.

TEDDY BEAR FLEECE PULLOVER

You guys, this teddy bear fleece is beyond!  It literally feels like you gave yourself a fluffy teddy bear hug! The inside has a super soft t-shirt lining and it comes in three colors, including a blush pink!

FIT:  It runs big and Small is the smallest size, so unfortunately, it’s too big on me. 🙁

The teddy bear jacket is the same as the pullover, in a zip jacket form.  I’m so bummed they don’t comes in XS!!! If you aren’t so petite, you might love this!
