Happy Friday! Happy Valentine’s Day Weekend! I’ve been so sick all week that I haven’t gotten much done, but I do seem to be on the mend now and will be taking my husband up on his Valentine’s day date lunch offer today. 🙂 Then, for the weekend, I’m hoping to make more progress on the baby nesting homefront and I need to start packing a hospital bag- do you have any “must brings” and “you won’t need”? I’d love to hear! My friend that just delivered at the same hospital said to err on the side of bringing everything because otherwise, you have to specifically request and wait for things that you might want right away. I’m really interested in hearing about nursing pajamas/tops. It’s been FOREVER since I had one!
Top 10 Nordstrom Winter Clearance Sale Finds
I’m always up for a soft as fur, cozy fleece pullover. I wear these at home as often as I do outside!
This is a top you can wear to the gym or on the weekends running around and still feel comfy and cute. The criss-cross back is awesome too. The Zella Z6 long sleeve and Z5 short sleeve tops are on sale too. Stock up now, especially if you need some extra workout inspiration. Always helps to have quality workout clothes to help get you to the gym.
We can’t be in cozy, comfy tops all day, especially if you have a job to go to or an evening event to attend. I love the versatility on this dress- layer a cardigan or blazer on top to make it work appropriate. The colors and pattern and so fun and playful to transition it to night!
You’ve seen me in this dress in black and it’s a no-brainer as one you can dress up with accessories, and feel good in even after a big dessert since the waistline is forgiving.
These are the same as my very favorite white jeans, and if I hadn’t vowed not to buy any more clothes until after baby was born, I would definitely be snatching these up in my pre-pregnancy size to take advantage of the sale price. They are worth it!
If you still need a stylish coat (I see that much of our country is freezing right now!), this inexpensive double-breasted peacoat is a winner. The Nordstrom reviewers LOVE this one! And under $30?!?! #shutthefrontdoor
A classic trench never goes out of style. This one is a beauty and barely $50!
Fringe is in people! And this pink color! #yesplease! But it also comes in a pretty light blue and sage. Rebecca Minkoff is top quality, you won’t regret this one!
I don’t know about you, but it’s about this time of year that I start craving everything bright and floral and Spring! These heels would certainly add some flair to your outfit and add drama to even a monocromatic outfit. The sassy cut-outs and tie are perfect!

One more thing! I have to thank y’all for recommending
the Snoogle! I got mine and have been using it and I feel like it is helping reduce back pain at night. It’s gotten increasingly more difficult to sleep comfortably in these last weeks, so thank you for saying, “get the pillow!”
AND,
my friend Gwen hooked me up with this seriously awesome
NIGHT PILLOW that is specifically designed for moisturizing your skin and hair while you sleep so you wake up with healthier hair and less wrinkles. I have to tell you I’m super picky about my pillow, and I LOVE this one. It’s got memory foam in it, so it’s the perfect firm/soft balance that I like in my pillows.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
You too Lauren!
So excited for you! My daughter turns one soon, but I remember those early nursing days and the hospital stay very well! My hospital provided the giant pads, mesh undies, tucks wipes, and numbing spray, but if yours doesn't, bring all that. Definitely bring some nipple butter with you. My favorite hands down is the Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter. In terms of nursing tops, have a few tanks on hand. I think the ones from target are the best. For pjs I found button front ones were easiest. Let me know if you have any other questions for what to bring!
Yep, I keep hearing button front PJs. I'll probably have to buy a pair of those since I don't have any. thanks so much!
I like your blog and posts. You always have good information. I went to look at the pillow to potentially buy and wondered what was up with their site's advertising/marketing?? Hypersexualized or what? Geesh. I want to buy one but it's a little over the top, IMHO.
I couldn't help but notice that too! I'm not sure if that's just their personality or they're trying to be funny, but the pillow is so good on its own they really don't need to go there. If you end up getting one, I'd love to hear what you think!
When I had my first, I brought everything but the kitchen sink to the hospital, but with my second (James) I knew what the hospital provided so I took way less. I knew I would have less visitors when the second was born so I invested in a super comfy new robe, slippers, and button front pjs. It felt so great to slip into my new cozy pjs after I could enjoy a long hot shower. Easy to nurse in and warm and cozy while away from home!
You have a James too! I bet you're right about it feeling good to slip into new PJs after a shower. I'm going to see what I have and if I can make something work. I know I don't have any button front PJs though and seems like that's probably the best option. Thanks for sharing!
I brought my own pillow and pillow case to the hospital. It was nice to have that little bit of home – but bring a colored pillow case so there's no confusion with the hospital ones. (I think I got this tip way back when from Young House Love!) I had a very rough recovery and spent my time in the hospital just wearing the gowns, but once I was home I slept in nursing tanks from Target. I used a nursing bra underneath them for more support though. (Sidenote – I am petite but busty, and I tried SO many nursing bras for weeks after my daughter was born. Finally Nordstrom came to the rescue. Worth the money!) Definitely bring chapstick or whatever you use on your lips – I got so dry during labor, and I always notice my peeling lips when I look back at pictures! Flip-flops/slippers are good for the hospital too. Also, I had a gift prepared for the nurses for when we left – but someone had to run out and get another because I realized nurses on different floors helped me, one during labor/delivery and another set during recovery. We brought Hershey kisses in a cute container for them.
I have a 4 month old. I love the target nursing Camis and super soft pjs in a larger size. Giant underwear was a must after a c-section. I honestly spent most of the time in the hospital in my underwear (I was so hot). I wish I'd brought a pretty robe for pictures. Good luck!
I loved nursing tanks with a zip up jacket over for the hospital. I also brought my own towel and travel sized toiletries. Made my first shower after birth feel like a spa!!
Best pillow ever! And I was never really prepared at the hospital. Ha! I wish I would of had more roomy pants ( for all you have to wear afterwards, ha! ).
