Now that I’m working from home more, I’m spending a ton of time in my home office. I feel blessed to have a whole room in our house to myself, especially one that has a big window that overlooks some gorgeous, lush green trees.
I’ve been working a lot at that desk (from Z Gallerie) in the afternoons, and the glare on the computer was getting to me.
So I turned the desk around to face the window.
I like it so much better! I can’t believe I didn’t turn the desk around earlier. I think it’s because I don’t really like having my back to the door, but I’ll trade that for the view. It’s still very bright in the room, I just couldn’t get a bright shot out the window without blowing out the trees.
I’m also planning to paint the walls. I liked the pale yellow initially, but I’m leaning towards a deeper grey now. Have you seen
her office? It’s one of my favorites!
I love your curtains and chevron accent pillow! A deep grey would look lovely or maybe a teal to offset the grey in your decor?
I love this change– I am sure that it is SO nice facing a window instead of having your back to it! Beautiful space, thanks for sharing!

I LOVE your office – always have and always will!
What an inspiration x
Love the change, and a grey would be beautiful.
What a great change! I love that you get to look out at the trees now while you're working — that must be so pretty! 🙂
Wow! What a beautiful office. I would Love to have a room like this all to myself.
I think facing the window is a great change. Lovely.

I love Small Shop's office – it was one that inspired me to paint my home office a darker gray as well. I used BM's Stormy Monday, and absolutely love the color – it's so rich and beautiful. I don't have photos of the completed office yet, but you can see the color on my walls here:

I love your desk!!!
Thank you for the link love! You are so good to me!
You have a great view! I wish I had a whole room!
What a beautiful view! The yellow is cheerful but the grey would be more sophisticated with your black and white furniture. Would also love to see pink accents, like Small Shop's office and the pens/pencils on your desk. And maybe something sparkly in there (love the floor lamp)and a mirror reflecting who's coming in the door(s), for feng shui purposes:) Ah, to have a room of one's own…
What a pretty view. I've always loved your office…so beautifully done, Megan. I love the yellow walls and I think gray will be lovely as well. You have great taste. Happy weekend!
I have to keep "my office" inside an armoire to keep little hands and eyes off "mama's stuff"! 🙂 Your room is absolutely beautiful, with yellow walls and all!

What a nice room! If you are considering grey, check out Emily Hewett's blog, A Well Dressed Home. Her redo of her house is amazing and she uses the color "Ashes" by Behr throughout. It's a great color!

What about with your back to the bookcase? Then you might not get the glare and still see the door.
I love it! I wish you could come redesign my office 🙂
I love your office and second what Skinny Mommy said…wish you could come fix up mine!
I don't like my back to the door either so my desk comes out from the wall so I can see the door and have a nice view of my yard. I think your desk would work well that way to since you do not have a lot of computer cord clutter that would show from the back of the desk.
You did the right thing, turning your desk to face the window, Megan! When you have too much things in your mind and you need a bit of relaxation, you only need a few seconds to look out your window to get back on track.
