Guest Post {Rambling Renovators}

I first fell in love with the Rambling Renovators family long before I ever thought of starting my own blog, when I caught a glimpse of the nursery they created for their adorable baby girl, Chloe.  Jennifer and her hubby are the King and Queen of DIY renovation and decor in Canada and completely cool, but it seems that all the Canadian bloggers are genuinely good people, ya know?!

 Then I was blown away when I saw how they remodeled their master bedroom, down to the DIY wood paneling behind the bed.

Organized COAT CLOSET {Decor Chick}

Organized COAT CLOSET {Decor Chick}

Aren’t we so happy for Friday!!!  It has felt like a really long week here and I’m welcoming the bit of a break that the weekend will bring.  My hubby and I decided to host a super casual Superbowl party, so I’m thinking we better get the word out to our friends and maybe start doing a little party planning:)  Then, a month later, it will be time for James’ 1st birthday!   I already found him a cute “birthday boy” t-shirt!

But today, I’m happy to have Emily from Decorchick feature her coat closet makeover.  It seems like that space always ends up being under-utilized or is where stuff is piled high and inaccessible.

I’m also REALLY so excited to share that I have 2 clients (yay!) that I get to do some organizing for in the near future.  Both women have agreed to let me share the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots with you, so I can’t wait to show you!  I’ll be starting with a bathroom for one gal and a clothes closet for the other.

Organized KID STUFF {Hi Sugarplum!}

Organized KID STUFF {Hi Sugarplum!}

Kids’ toys and “stuff” can pose a real challenge to parents in terms of how to keep the areas tidy, uncluttered, and organized.  In our house, we’ve recently gone from one big toy basket to three and post-Christmas there are lots of toys that are too big for the baskets.  It’s an evolving process as our kids grow up too.  Today, I bring you one of my favorite people, Cassie from Hi Sugarplum!  She’s got a nine year-old boy and a four year-old girl, and is showing us how she utilizes storage space like closets and cabinets to keep her KID STUFF all pretty and organized.

Organized TOYS {Sixty-Fifth Avenue}

Organized TOYS {Sixty-Fifth Avenue}

Happy Monday to You!  Over the weekend, I visited a friend at her house to discuss how I could help her get her home organized and running more efficiently.  She has a two year-old son and a baby due in two weeks, and needs some help with a few areas in her house, specifically, the bathroom, closets, and mudroom.  Our mutual friend actually retained me to help her organize these spaces because she knows I have a (not-so-secret-anymore) desire to become a professional organizer!  I am excited to announce that I am now offering my organization services to clients in the Houston area.

Organized MAGAZINE INSPIRATION FILES {Name 5 Things}

I’m thrilled to introduce you to my friend Emily, author of Name 5 Things, who I’ve recently discovered is kinda like my twin in many respects:)  We actually live about 10 miles apart, are both lawyers, have babies (although hers are the furry kind!) and I’ve spotted many things around her home that I also have in mine!  If you haven’t been to her blog, I encourage you to check it out- I’m certain you will love what you see!   ********** I was flattered when Megan asked me to participate in her organizing series to start off the new year!

I’m super excited about today’s post from one of my favorite blog authors, Courtney of A Thoughtful Place!  Courtney has a gorgeous eye for design as well as a knack for creating pretty and organized spaces in her own home.  I love her “Friday Eye Candy” posts because I know I’m certain to find a swoon-worthy space to admire every time.  Courtney also has two little ones a bit older than my guy, so I love all of her wonderful tips and ideas for kids too.  She creates the best simple party favors and easy DIY personalized gifts,

Organized KITCHEN {Simply LKJ}

I’m making tons of progress on the home-organization front.  Simply LKJ has totally inspired me to organize all of my kitchen drawers and pantry too!  I’ll post some pictures soon.  When I saw Lauren’s organized kitchen, I was blown away!  This is an organizer’s DREAM kitchen!  She thought of everything to make her life, and especially mealtimes, run smoothly.  Let me know what you think too!  ********** Hi everyone!  I am super excited to be here at Honey We’re Home.   I adore Megan and her blog, so naturally I said yes when asked to guest post for her Organization Series.

baby james {9 months}

baby james {9 months}

This last month has been so fun as James’ personality and curiosity has been ever-emerging. Also, his ability to get around has increased exponentially!  He moves around the house like nobody’s business and doesn’t sit still for long.  Sometimes, we’ll be in his room playing and he’ll just crawl away into the hallway.  Um, weren’t we playing?  I feel like I’m always saying, “Where you going?”

Now, James:

Weighs 20 pounds
Says “mamamamamama”
Loves to zoom around the house is his little car.  We call it his “zoom zoom”
Thinks diaper change is the perfect time to flip over and be a wiggle worm.

Black Friday Shopping {Serenity Now Style}

Black Friday Shopping {Serenity Now Style}

The morning after Thanksgiving will find me happily sipping a hot cup of coffee and decorating our Christmas tree while singing along to holiday songs!  “Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?? . . . “  Sooooo excited to put up the tree- this year I’m going with blue, silver, white and red ornaments.  I can’t even wait to see what James thinks of our 9 foot faux wonder.  He’s already crazy for the garland on the stairs! Later in the day, I will probably join the masses and do a little bit of shopping because once I actually pull out all of our holiday decor,

Fabric Lined Bookshelf

Fabric Lined Bookshelf

In case you missed my guest post last week at Serenity Now, I’m sharing with you today.  I recently did a little more sprucing to the sitting room in the master bedroom by lining the back of the built-in bookshelves with fabric, using starch.  {I first heard of this when I saw Stephanie at Crea8tive Designs’ pantry} Our sitting room is just off the bedroom and the bookshelves are on the far right wall.

A nice feature, for sure, but kind of bland as-is.  So, I started by scouring the fabric stores and found the perfect pretty floral print.
