Client Bedroom Design Board

Client Bedroom Design Board

The lovely reader that I did a living room design board for asked me to create a board for her master bedroom as well, and I loved doing it!  She was looking to keep her dark black furniture, but add some paint, new bedding, and drapes.  Her style is similar to mine, so working with her was really easy and fun.  We started with painting the walls gray, adding luxurious gray/slate drapes hung really high, and a paisley bedding, since she specifically did not want all white bedding.  A sheepskin rug under the bed feels so soft on your feet when getting in and out of bed and the crystal lamps add some glamour to the space.

Spring Bag

Spring Bag

It seems that every year, about this time, I start itching to get a new bag for Spring.  I got a new bag last November that I still like, but I love seeing the new Spring styles.  If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you probably know I have a thing for Michael Kors.  His Santorini natural tote is a current fave.

Kate Spade’s straw bag with “petuna” ribbon is also pretty cute!
This yellow and white stripe leather one is fun too,

New Coffee Table

New Coffee Table

Since the addition of the new curtains to our living room, our big ole chunky ottoman just feels too big, bulky and dark for the look I’m after.  I initially chose this particular ottoman for baby safety reasons, but now I’m not so sure that there isn’t a better option available.  Here are a few that have caught my eye recently. Williams Sonoma Bryce Coffee Table ($550) I’m thinking of going round this time since our couch is so square.  I’m kind of in love with this one. I love the thick,

Client Living Room E-Design

Recently a reader contacted me for some help with her living room, and I prepared a design board for her.  She wanted to keep her wall paint color and two sofas and ottoman, but was willing to part with the rug.  I just love the features in the room- soaring beamed ceilings, stone fireplace, big windows, and dark hardwood floors.  In fact, Jimmy and I seriously considered buying a house with a similar floor plan before deciding to build instead.  Client’s Room BEFORE   DESIGN BOARD I prepared the board with three different rugs to give her a few choices and see how each one would change the look of the room.

Fabric Canvas Wall Art

Fabric Canvas Wall Art

While perusing fabric for my living room drapes, I fell in love with this beauty.  I love the lime greens, the whimsy of the birds and how the gray keeps it from looking too feminine even though it’s a floral print.  In an effort to showcase this fabric somewhere in my home, I decided to incorporate it into our dining room design by turning it into a piece of art.  Ultimately, I think I will add two square mirrors to either side of the art as well as neutral drapes so that I can change out the art and runner as the mood strikes.

Living Room Drapes

Living Room Drapes

Ah, I’m so happy to have FINALLY decided on fabric for my living room/breakfast room drapes!  It’s only been about three months that I’ve been eyeing my naked windows with contempt.  And unlike before, this time, I’m hiring a friend to sew them for me!  Here’s the sample fabric: The drapes will go on the far ends of the living room windows too.  It will be so nice to have the added visual interest and something to draw the eye up (still need to raise the mirrors!) p.s. I can’t believe I got a shot out the window without just a bunch of glare- I played around with the manual settings on my camera but have no idea how I stumbled into the settings.

Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag

Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag

The tote bag I’ve been carrying for months is so cute, but too impractical for my current lifestyle- that being a mommy lifestyle.  Since I don’t use a diaper bag anymore, my everyday bag has to double as purse + diaper bag.  The previous tote I was using was too heavy and didn’t have any dividing compartments inside, so the contents kept getting all scrambled and I’d lose my keys, phone, etc.  Not good when you’re juggling holding a baby and all . . . They had different color combinations that I debated for way too long over,

DIY {Inspiration Board}

DIY {Inspiration Board}

My office is coming along, slowly but surely.  I’ve made curtains, got a new desk, chair and chandelier (that still needs to be hung), and found a rug (so soft and plush on my toes) that I love!  Even though the room has a ways to go before it’s “complete”, I love disappearing into there and working, blogging, crafting.   The walls were still pretty bare, (except for my Blogs and Coffee poster:), so I decided to make an inspiration board. There is one wall in particular,

Go Greek & Pumpkin Play

Go Greek & Pumpkin Play

We had such a good time at the Greek Festival the other weekend.  We went with another couple and their adorable (almost) 2 year old daughter.  It was so fun to enjoy the festivities outside and relax in the grass (a first for James) and watch the kiddos play.  And last weekend we finally made it to the pumpkin patch, aka a church with pumpkins on their lawn:)   James loves standing up now, so the big pumpkins were his favorite! This weekend, I plan to finish organizing my closet and will share with you on Monday.

Simple Nightstand Update

Simple Nightstand Update

Do you notice anything different between this photo  . . . And this photo?    If you didn’t, don’t worry, my husband didn’t either!  Before he went to bed, he asked me what I was doing.  I said, writing a post about the changes to the nightstand.  What changes?, he replied.  Well, the changes are rather small.  I switched out the lamp shade for a larger one, got a new clock, and put away the books I’m not currently reading.   See? Before After   A few simple changes for a nicer look.

Curtains in the Office Complete

Curtains in the Office Complete

Thank you so much for wishing James well.  He is doing great and was definitely in a better mood this weekend.  We didn’t make it to the pumpkin patch, but we did take him to the Greek Festival on Sunday and had so much fun.  I hope your weekend was wonderful too.

I was able to finally complete the curtains for my office on Saturday night (yeah, that’s what Saturday nights look like at our place these days:), but I have to say, I may just hire a seamstress next time I want curtains made!  I found the perfect fabric (Waverly Bedazzle Silver Lining) and foolishly thought,

Our Breakfast Room

Our Breakfast Room

When designing our home, I dreamed of a little breakfast room with a window where we could enjoy our weekend mornings, lingering over the table with a cup of coffee and the paper or a magazine.  The room would also double as a place for casual dinners and easy get-togethers with friends.  The logical location for our breakfast room was just off the kitchen, adjacent to the living room.  We ended up with two windows, plus the glass door, so lots of natural light.     After moving in, the breakfast room sat empty while I struggled to find the perfect table for the space.

Fabric Lined Bookshelf

Fabric Lined Bookshelf

In case you missed my guest post last week at Serenity Now, I’m sharing with you today.  I recently did a little more sprucing to the sitting room in the master bedroom by lining the back of the built-in bookshelves with fabric, using starch.  {I first heard of this when I saw Stephanie at Crea8tive Designs’ pantry} Our sitting room is just off the bedroom and the bookshelves are on the far right wall.

A nice feature, for sure, but kind of bland as-is.  So, I started by scouring the fabric stores and found the perfect pretty floral print.

The Shutters are Coming, The Shutters are Coming!

The Shutters are Coming, The Shutters are Coming!

Ordering blinds and shutters for our home was one of the last things we did before moving in.  I had only a short time to decide what we were going to do with our windows in terms of blinds/shutters and probably made some mistakes.  I love the look of bamboo shades and wonder (secretly, so the hubby doesn’t freak out) if we should’ve gotten those instead.  They just warm up a space so well.  Anyhow . . . We opted for blinds on all the windows downstairs, leaving the two rear glass doors uncovered.  Upstairs, we also have blinds in all the bedrooms,

Office Inspiration Board

While I was out and about searching for fabric for our mudroom, I found the perfect “I-love-you-you-definitely-belong-in-my-home” fabric to make curtains for my office.  So happy!  The fabric is Waverly Bedazzle Silver Lining.  I had to special order it, so it should be here in about two weeks.  Now I’m inspired to get my office in some semblance of working order and start actually using it!  Here’s the room just before we moved in: And here is my inspiration board: Inspiration Sources David Jimenez:  The original inspiration for my office is the oh-so-talented David Jimenez’ Palm Springs Regency interior.

Banquette

Banquette

Something about banquette seating just says relaxed and comfortable to me.  I love it paired with unique chairs and patterned cushions.  I originally wanted this in our home, but didn’t end up going that route because we didn’t want to interfere with the flow from the open living room to the breakfast room.  Maybe we’ll change our minds in the future.  For now, I can just enjoy these images.   *via Diane Bergeron     *Designer Annsley McAleer’s Boston home. Couch in Real Life

Couch in Real Life

Remember the couch I ordered for the new house?  Well, it arrived on moving day and it is perfect!  I was concerned that it wouldn’t fit our living room, but it does:)  Since it arrived, we have been doing everything on the couch: Hangin’ out . . . Playing with Daddy . . . Eating pears for the first time . . . Drinking coffee (me, not the baby!) and eating breakfast . . . Relaxing in the morning and playing with toys . . .   Entertaining Uncle Chaz and Aunt Jess .
