Ah, the end of another week and the beginning of the weekend! Why does this make a stay-at-home-mom so happy? Perhaps because it means dad is home too and we get some major family time. But, truth is, I don’t dread Mondays because I love my (new) job:) Sadly, my little guy was sick this week. He’s on the mend, but I think he felt like this which made mom feel like this Needless to say, I didn’t get much done this week. Except, oh yeah, this was the week I agreed to do some contract work for my old firm.View Post
This kid is killing me with his cuteness. And his eyes. And his smile. And is joy. And his laughter. And his just. being. a. baby. He’s the best thing in the world. Keeps delighting me by delighting himself. Sometimes he laughs so hard, one of those deep belly laughs, and then I’m laughing too and I just want to record it and save it forever. Those wonderfully sweet sounds. Everything is new. Everything is wondrous. Everything is explored. I wake up so excited for each day because I know I get to spend it with him and I can’t wait to see what he’s up to next.View Post
I think this must be how it starts. One day, you’re getting ready in the morning, carefully applying makeup, styling your hair (drying and curling), putting on high heels and cute work clothes, accessorizing, and adding a coordinating purse. . . then you become a stay at home mom.
It starts innocently enough. “I’m home, so I should be comfortable” (a barrage of tanks and capris ensue, quickly becoming the “uniform”), “my baby pulls my hair” (so I just keep it up, don’t even dry it anymore after showering- at least there is still showering:), “why fuss with makeup” (a quick coat of mascara is fine),
Hi all! I hope your week is off to a great start. Busy here, I’ve got a couple of different projects going on and making my way through accomplishing them while the baby sleeps. I am excited to show you our improved bedroom. As you know, since we moved into our house in July, the windows in our master bedroom and bathroom looked like this Last Thursday morning the shutters were finally installed and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I was getting nervous as the shutters were being brought inside because they looked huge,View Post
Have y’all heard of the blog Mila’s Daydreams? While new mom, Adele, was on maternity leave, she started photographing her baby while she napped, creating the most unique scenes around her. You have got to check it out:) Here’s just a few of her photographs. “The Laundry Day” “Autumn Leaves of Gingerbread Tree” “A Little Concerto” “Bookworm” I warned you it was too cute.View Post
My sweet little guy will be six months old on Saturday. Six. Months. Old. It’s so true what they say . . . makes me glad I am able to stay home with him. A roly-poly baby is in our midst. As soon as James turned 5 months, he started rolling from his back to his tummy, usually on the right side. Now he’s also going from tummy to back. He started doing baby “push-ups” and can lift his whole chest off the floor and get on his knees. He’s “swimming” and gets around on the floor pretty well, although he goes backwards!View Post
I know, I know . . . it’s too early for Halloween, but it’s never too early to see adorable babies! Seriously, they are the cutest in their little costumes! I was going nuts over these photos yesterday. Just the sweetest. I’m DYING over the sweet pea and the little guy so excited to be a pumpkin! *First 8 images are from Pottery Barn Kids. Holy cow, that baby is just so cute I could melt!View Post
Some friends and I hosted my sister-in-law’s baby shower over the weekend. My sista is the best and has a cool, funky sense of style. She’s having a girl, Miss V, and doing the nursery in an owl theme. Here’s some pictures we snapped at the shower.
The entryway was adorned with a clothesline holding adorable onesies.
Inside the formal dining room is where the gifts were stored until time to open.
All of the guests signed future birthday cards to be opened by Ms. V on her 1st, 5th, 10th,
The wall above James’ crib looked pretty barren without anything on it. It’s a large wall and the first thing you see as you enter the room, so it needed some visual interest. I debated putting letters spelling his name in the space, then changed my mind and decided to make my own framed art using an illustrated book. (I did buy the letters to spell James, but think I’ll use them in his bathroom instead.) I had 2 frames already that I could reuse and just bought two more, figuring 4 would fit the wall nicely. The frames are from Target and a little pricey at $17.00 each (11×14 inch frames and 8×10 mat).View Post
I’ve always thought that these little wooden animals at Hobby Lobby were adorable, and for only 67 cents each, I was wondering what I could do with them. I decided to make a coat rack for James’ nursery. I bought the wooden, unfinished coat rack at Hobby Lobby for just a couple dollars and simply spray painted it white. Then I used a glue gun to glue the little animals to the rack. We affixed the rack to the wall using velcro adhesive stickers. Voila! I think it turned out pretty cute,View Post
Remember the couch I ordered for the new house? Well, it arrived on moving day and it is perfect! I was concerned that it wouldn’t fit our living room, but it does:) Since it arrived, we have been doing everything on the couch: Hangin’ out . . . Playing with Daddy . . . Eating pears for the first time . . . Drinking coffee (me, not the baby!) and eating breakfast . . . Relaxing in the morning and playing with toys . . . Entertaining Uncle Chaz and Aunt Jess .View Post
Happy 4th of July! and Happy 4 month birthday to the little, big love of my life! This guy has captured my heart like no other. So much so that I’ll be a stay-at-home mommy soon:) James is the sweetest, happiest baby I’ve ever seen. He’s all smiles and giggles has has been such an easy going disposition.
So far, James:
Height – 25 inches; weight – 16.4 pounds
loves his tummy time and “swimming” on his play mat
plays with toys like plush colored blocks and round rattle, and holds things in his hands,
How fun to have a wee little one to decorate for! Here’s a glimpse of the beginning of the nursery:
We have a crib very similar to this and matching changing table:

and this rug with “J”:
I was initially thinking of doing some type of mural and found this adorable image:

I ultimately decided against the mural since we have wainscotting, but I still loved the scene and colors so I decided to do a play on a jungle theme.View Post
