James woke up at about 6am, but Jordan was still sleeping, so we waited for her and when she was still sleeping at almost 7:30, we went in and woke her up too. I can’t believe James held out for so long, but we wanted to experience the morning together! I love seeing the kids’ faces light up when they see that Santa came- it’s so full of sheer joy and delight! Jordan saw her big zebra and kept calling it a cow! Happy Monday friends! We’re back from our trip to New Orleans and we had the best time! It’s pretty rare that we travel without the kids, so this was a special treat! We crammed so much into the two-day trip and I can’t wait to share it all with you on Wednesday! We got home Sunday afternoon and even though we were so tired from late nights and early mornings, we powered through and got a ton done. I didn’t want to wake up on Monday morning and still have to unpack, do laundry, grocery shop and meal prep, so we took care of it Sunday night.View Post

I’m definitely not that chipper in the morning, nor am I a morning person (as my hubby can attest), but I made a commitment to waking up at 5 a.m. at the start of May as a way to get my workouts in. If your house is anything like ours, mornings are hectic as we prepare for the day and try to get our son off to school on time. Before our daughter was born, I wanted to make him responsible for getting himself ready for school in the mornings so I didn’t have to be all, “eat breakfast . . . get your shoes on . . . have you brushed your teeth yet? . . . I realized I’ve been asking myself a lot lately, “What’s the most important thing?” And I don’t mean in a “let’s ponder the meaning of life” kind of way. Of course, our health, spiritual walk, relationships and children all top the list of those most important things in our lives. Waking up this Monday morning feeling like it was Friday only yesterday! Can you relate?! Weekends are pretty busy with trying to fit in all the things we didn’t get to during the week, and adding in a birthday party and sports game to the mix. Now that school’s back in session and weekday mornings are busier than ever, we are definitely cherishing the slower paced weekends. I looked up this month and realized that I’ve been blogging consistently now for 5 years! I can’t believe it’s been that long! I started my blog to chronicle our first-home building journey and life along the way with a new baby. Since that time, I’ve gone from full-time lawyer to work-at-home mom (if you consider blogging work), which I really don’t, although I do spend quite a bit of time on my blog.
