Our home is our haven from the world, and there’s no place I’d rather be! It’s a good thing too, because since 2010, when we built this place, I’ve been pouring over all the design and decor details, making it the perfect cozy home for us. During the day you may see footballs flying through the air, toys strewn about the living room and beyond, and kitchen counters clutters with all.the.things! But that’s real life and what makes a home with kids! I’m happy to welcome you in to our HOME TOUR, and of course I cleaned up for you! ;)
Welcome to a new week friends! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I had planned to do another Amazon fashion try-on post Friday, but with Jordan being sick and my eye troubles, I didn’t get to it. Being able to work from home, especially with young kids, is such a blessing that I never take for granted.
Of course, I have plans and things to do, but when kids get sick (or Mom), we have to let go of our plans and adjust our priorities. I’m so thankful I can do that! It was a busy week anyway with December Loves,
Good morning friends! Thank you so, so much for the love on our updated master bedroom yesterday! I’m absolutely crazy for how it turned out and so happy to finally invite you in. Today, we’re continuing the bedroom tour with updates we made to our master bedroom sitting area.
OUR MASTER BEDROOM SITTING AREA UPDATE
Before we built our home 9 years ago, we toured several model homes to get ideas for the floor plan in our house. One feature that stood out to me was the ‘sitting area’ – a little nook off the master bedroom for just lounging or watching tv in a cozy space.
Good morning friends! I hope you’re having a great week! I’m still working on getting my groove back and feeling so much better now that I’m concentrating on healthy eating, drinking lots of water and exercising daily! It’s amazing how quickly our body responds to those things, but it’s a determined effort to make them happen everyday.
I’m sooo excited for today’s post and couldn’t wait to share it with you! We’ve been working on transforming our previously neutral bedroom into a more feminine and sophisticated space and I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out!
Hello friends! How was your weekend? Ours was filled with spoiling our sweet son and celebrating his 8th birthday! I swear I could not love him more and everyday with James is truly delightful. He wanted a simple football party at the park with all the boys he plays football with at recess, so it was fun surprising him with this big yard sign!
I was lucky to snag a pic with the birthday boy. At this age, it’s hard to get him to get in a picture!
Well hello friends! I’ve been wanting to give you an updated closet tour for some time now and today is finally the day! I’ve made a few changes to the way I organize things and I’ve also been purging some of the contents so that I’m left with only things I actually use and wear! It feels great to have a closet where everything has a place and everything is neatly organized. I can’t wait to show you around! I hope this gives you some ideas for how to keep your own closet organized!
And just like that it’s nearly Thanksgiving! How did it sneak up on us?! Even though we’re not hosting this year, we’ve already been to the grocery store for drinks and appetizers (we’re bringing a meat & cheese tray- so not vegan!- but always requested) so I’m feeling good about being ready! Today, I’m taking the kids to the zoo and I’m super excited because it will be Jordan’s first time!
Can y’all believe Halloween is tomorrow?! Which means Thanksgiving is just about three weeks away! I like Halloween for the kiddos, but for me, it signifies the slide into that cozy and festive time of year I love so much- the H O L I D A Y S! Cue angels singing!!! By the way, it’s suddenly turned crazy cold here, so my little ballerina might just be a pumpkin instead! I still have James’ old costume and I tried it on her and it fits! It’s really thick, so it’ll keep her warm while trick-or-treating.
With the help of my small decorator (if you saw Stories you know what I mean;),
Hello and Happy Thursday!! If you’re here visiting from Style House Interiors, welcome to our happy home! This Decked + Styled Spring Tour was arranged and organized by our friend Bree ZDesign At Home, thanks so much Bree for including me!
I’m happy to finally pull out of all the paint mess that was here recently and share a look inside our home (that was miraculously clean all.at.the.same.time for approximately 22 minutes) so photographs could be taken! That’s no easy feat with a baby tornado running around! Am I right mamas?!
Well, our weekend didn’t go as planned! We were all set to have friends over to watch the big game, but unfortunately, a stomach bug took out 3/4 of our family! 🙁 We had to cancel our Superbowl party, but the good news is we’re all feeling so much better today and Jordan never got it! Isn’t that the worst when your baby is sick and can’t really communicate what she’s feeling? It’s even hard to see your 6 year-old looking so pitiful. We did watch the game, wasn’t it crazy when they tied??!! What a comeback! And I thought Gaga rocked it,
Hi guys! Do you remember about 100 years ago, I posted our design plan for Jordan’s bathroom?! Ok, maybe it wasn’t 100 years ago, but it feels like it. With her first birthday looming, it’s true what they say-
Even though I often overestimate what I can get done in a day, I’m happy to say, the bathroom is complete- a bright and cheerful spot for little Ms. Jordan to take her nightly bath in! And she loves bathtime!
Are y’all getting settled into the new year? We’ve gotten all of our Christmas decorations taken down, and truth be told, I would’ve actually loved to keep them up longer! The last thing to go was the Christmas cards and we always save them to look through and see how all the kids have grown and changed over the years. I’m a new convert to holiday decorating at least some portions of our home before Thanksgiving now because I enjoyed it so much this year! I will be ready again for the holidays next year for sure! And I packed everything away really neatly so it won’t be so daunting pulling it back out!
Hi friends! We’ve been knee deep in back-to-school preparations over here and I’m sending my son off to his first day of 1st grade today! #whendidhegetsobig?! Even though it’s always bittersweet seeing summer come to an end, I’m actually ready for school to start this year and that’s a first! I may or may not have been counting down these last couple of days like Christmas was coming! Come this afternoon, I might be changing my tune and all sappy missing my boy, but right now, I’m all #yayforschool! We’ll see if “my kid gets himself ready for school by himself without me nagging”
This last full week before school starts has me vacillating between I’m so ready for school to start and get back to some semblancy of law and order again!! and Noooo, it’s not long enough and I’m gonna miss James soooo much when he’s gone all day! Can you believe we start back so soon? Most schools in Houston start around August 22, but we start on the 10th!
Until school starts, I’m not beginning any new projects, just recapping some of the most popular posts of 2016 so far. After all, there’s still 5 more months to go and a list a mile long of things I still want to accomplish before the year ends.
Today is kinda like the grown-up equivalent of Christmas morning, with the excitement level off the charts because I finally get to share with y’all my home office makeover reveal! As I sit in my new office chair drafting this post, it’s all I can do to stay focused, because I’m still soaking in all the goodness in this gorgeous room! I’m beyond thrilled with how it turned out and the sophisticated and feminine feel I was originally after was certainly achieved. I couldn’t have done it without my talented friend and designer Sita Montgomery. She’s been a true friend and fantastic sounding board and I’m proud to have collaborated with her on this room.
Good morning! Are you Super Bowl weary today?! My son and I have been under the weather lately, so we just took it easy. I even missed Beyonce- #gasp! Was it good?? I hope we’re better soon – no time to be sick when a baby is on the way! I’ve got nesting fever and am wanting to finish up the nursery bathroom and get her closet organized, plus pack our hospital bag essentials. I even had a dream last night that we ended up at the hospital with nothing. It wasn’t terrible, but I’d rather be prepared.
Hi there! Did you happen to casually show your men yesterday’s Valentine’s gift idea post?! I emailed it directly to my hubby and got the “thumbs up, ok, and check mark” emojis back, but no words. Guess we’ll see what that means in about 24 days. 😉
Anyhow, we’re on to more home decor today, specifically the second post in my HOME STYLING TIPS series. The first one was dedicated to the kitchen and the balance between function vs. beauty. I started with the kitchen because that’s always the heart of the home and a space we cannot escape from with the daily demands of busy life.
Well, we weren’t the big lottery winners on Saturday night, but we did decide that IF we won, I would keep blogging (goes to show that I genuinely love it!) but we would definitely be taking vacations and traveling more. I think we only went out of town once last year for Spring Break. Did you play? I can’t believe no one won!
I posted a picture on my Instagram over the weekend of a small spot in our kitchen, and a Jennifer and Cindy commented that they’d like to see a kitchen styling post. I’m all for that since I’m always arranging and rearranging things.
It’s wonderful to have such a kind reaction to the our nursery that we revealed last week! Thank you so much for your sweet comments and shares! I’m thrilled with how it turned out and have been able to just sit in the glider and contemplate what life will be like in just a couple months. At Bunco last night, one of my friends brought her 4-week-old daughter and she was the sweetest thing ever! Like a living baby doll! I still can’t believe we’ll be bringing home one of those little baby girls soon too! My heart is ready!
