Hi friends! Welcome back to my blog and here’s to a fresh, new week! We just got back from Florida yesterday and I’m exhausted in the best way. It was such a great getaway and I can’t remember the last time I saw such clear water and white, sandy beaches. Our weather started out rainy, but ended up gloriously sunny and warm. I’ll be working on a trip recap to share with you soon. In the meantime, I did share some pics on my Instagram. 🙂
But first, it’s all those after-vacay things that need to be done like grocery shopping and meal prep.
Hi friends! Happy Monday! I hope y’all had a wonderful weekend! I kicked off the weekend with a fun couples date night with Ali-Shaun and Rhonda and their husband’s. We’ve been trying to get this date on the books for what feels like forever, and we finally made it happen! When you’re jugging work, kids, sports and school, sometimes you gotta just book things in advance and wait for the date to get here!
Also, we wanted to get the girls together for lunch recently, but decided to order in and eat at my house. That made it much more convenient since we all live close and didn’t have to drive to a restaurant.
Hi friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and even better Mother’s Day. We spent the day in Galveston at the beach with my family (and Brian!) and it was so fun to have everyone together. We are a small, but super tight group and I love watching the kids grow up together. ♥
James loves hanging out with his two girl cousins that are his age and Jordan’s little BFF is her cousin CJ, who’s 6 months younger. They are two peas in a pod and I can’t get enough of their cuteness!
Hi friends! How is your week going? Are you still in vacay mode or getting things done? I’m a mix of both. I’m getting things done, but in a relaxed, non-frazzled way if that makes sense. I’ve started taking down my decor and Brian helped me get the big tree down last night.
Part of what has really helped me slow down more is continuing to get rid of things in our home so that we have empty spaces, clear counters and surfaces, and less ‘inventory’ to maintain and take care of.
I’m on a minimizing journey and have made great strides in the last six months especially.

We’re officially in Fall mode, and I’m looking forward to baking, trying new recipes, family gatherings, and Fall decor.
It’s beginning to look like Fall on my front porch! I hung my Fall wreaths on the front door and added pumpkins in all sizes and colors.

Brian and my longtime (25 years and counting) friend Maggie! So funny that they share the same birthday! I guess I like Virgos -my Mom is one too.:) We’re taking Maggie out to lunch at Perry’s Steakhouse today, and then we’re having a special dinner for Brian with his sister and her husband. It’ll be my first time meeting them, so fingers crossed it goes well! What should I wear?!
I’ve started sprinkling Fall decor around my house and it’s gotten me so in the mood for all things Fall and cozy!
Good morning Monday! Welcome back to my blog! I hope y’all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was nice and slow with lots of rain.
On Sunday, Jordan and I surprised James with breakfast in bed- just pancakes and strawberries, but it felt special all spread out on a tray and delivered to the bedroom. Jordan loves to help me in the kitchen. She put on her little apron and uses her kids safety knives to cut the tops off the strawberries. I think it makes her feel so good to be helpful and it’s something we can do together while she learns.
Good morning friends and welcome back to my blog! I’m so glad you’re here! I’ve mentioned here and there how I’ve been working on sprucing up the landscape around my house and now it’s complete! It’s nothing fancy, but it looks so much better than before.
Today, I’ll share the before with you and walk you through what we’ve done. My landscaper, Jose Hoyos, has become someone I really enjoy talking with and we have great conversations about life and families every time he visits. I love supporting his small business and I’d happily recommend him if you’re in the Houston area.
Hello friends! Welcome back and here’s to a fresh, new week! My weekend was awesome and I hope yours was too! I got to have some one-on-one time with Jordan Saturday morning. We went to the pool, ate lunch at the cafe, and then stopped by Starbuck’s on the way home. I’ve said before that age four is so delightful and I think it’s true with Jordan too. Seriously, so much fun!
Hi friends! Welcome to a brand new week! I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, as different as it was this year. I got to see my Mom and it was truly awesome! She looks great and it was the best gift just being together.
And here’s hoping this week is better than the last. Some days lately are just so rough! We were chatting about that on Stories lately and I so appreciate all of your DMs commiserating. It truly helps me feel like I’m not alone and we are in this together.
Good morning friends! How are y’all doing? On Friday we got the news that the kids won’t be going back to school this semester. I kinda figured that would happen, but having the official word made it really sink in. It feels like a really long time that we’ve been in this stay-home order and it’s making me feel blah lately. I’ve had all the ups and downs, many productive moments, and then lots of low motivation.
How’s it going for you? It still floors me that we’re all going through this at the same time. Mondays I tend to pull myself together because I have to for our set school time,
Good morning Monday! How was your weekend? I wish I could have one.more.day! But I’m not complaining! It felt very indulgent this weekend to let my friends spoil me rotten with good food, drinks, conversation and laughs. I got to spend time with my very favorite people and that’s the best gift of all!

Good morning friends! Thank God for a couple of good days sleep. And workouts! On Tuesday, Jordan and I walked to the park and played for about 30 minutes, then walked home. Getting outside in the fresh air is always a good idea and it helps tremendously to lift your mood.

Hello friends! How’s your week been? It’s already been jam packed here with baseball practice, meetings with the teachers, and planning Jordan’s classroom Halloween party.
Last night, we also had our National Night Out and all the neighbors got together with the kids and had a potluck style dinner together. We have a great group of families in our neighborhood and one of Jordan’s favorite friends, the sweetest 4 year-old boy, lives right across the street. He often comes over to play in the evenings or on weekends and it’s so sweet to see how fond of each other they are.
It took me a little bit to get going, but I’m finally doing some recaps of 2018. I really enjoy looking back and reflecting on all that happened in the last year. I can get so caught up in what needs to happen today, that I forget all that was accomplished already! We’ve been in our house almost 9 years now and I’m so happy here. I love the way home feels and we made some updates that have made it even better this year!
You’ve seen Jordan’s nursery all decked out for Spring and we’re sloooowly but surely working our way through our master bedroom refresh. You might recall that, before starting on this makeover, our room looked like this. Since then, I hired my friend Aryn of Oyster Creek Studios to help with the design and finishing touches.
Last week, you saw the wallpaper go up and the dressers being installed and now we have some of the bedding! The wallpaper was so hard for me to choose on my own because obviously there are a million options,
Hello friends! We arrived home late last night from our Spring Break trip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The vacation was with 3 other families and it was great to make those fun memories with the (9!) kids! We owe our friends’ Dad big time for generously offering to let us stay at his quaint log cabin! 17 people under one roof!! It definitely takes a lot of energy and effort to travel with young kids, but it’s worth it! I’ll do a full trip recap with some helpful family travel tips soon!

I hope your week is off to a great start! I had a super productive Monday, kicked off with a killer workout, which always feels amazing. But then, at 8:30 last night I realized we hadn’t gotten Valentine’s cards for the class exchange which is happening this morning, so off to Walgreens! As much as I like to be on top of things, there are still days when I run around feeling like a chicken that lost its head! It’s especially at those times that we have to give ourselves GRACE! Am I right? I’m really loving the positive feedback on yesterday’s Daily Affirmations post.
