Now that my office redesign is wrapped up and fully functional and Jordan has a gorgeous room to call her own, it’s time to give James a room he loves too with his personal touch and fun personality. He moved into the guest room to make room for Jordan and it’s been kind of a hodge podge since then. He told me recently that he wants a “Star Wars” room, and he was very specific about how the decor should look, from the ceilings to the walls. He even drew me a design plan of how it should look!View Post
Decorate and redecorate because it’s always a work in progress and never really done!
Hello!! It’s the day I’ve been anxiously waiting for! I finally get to announce that we’ll be redecorating my home office for this Spring’s One Room Challenge! If you’re new to Honey We’re Home, thanks so much for stopping by! I’m Megan, a possibly crazy woman that wanted to take on this challenge even though I just had a baby! Our 7-week old Jordan is the sweetest thing. She’s keeping me busy with those round-the-clock feedings, but I didn’t want to turn down the opportunity to redecorate this room, especially after last time!
ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
Last Fall I was honored to participate in the ORC and it was a terrific experience.View Post
I mentioned earlier this week that I have some exciting home decor news to share with you and I’m finally allowed to spill the beans! Or at least part of them. 😉 The good news is that I’ll be participating in the One Room Challenge again, which kicks off next Wednesday! If you’re not familiar with the challenge, it’s an opportunity to decorate a room from top to bottom in just 6 weeks. The final reveal this time will be May 11th.
Y’all know I’ve been consumed with baby, baby, baby lately, and rightfully so, since she’s just 6 weeks old!View Post
My friends and family truly spoiled us this weekend with the sweetest baby sprinkle (no registry, just diapers and girlie things since this is our second), and I’m all choked up over the adorable, tiny baby girl things we brought home. You could tell everyone choose everything with love and we really felt it. I’ll do a recap post of the party as soon as I get my pictures in order, I’d love to get to share it with you since you couldn’t be there in person.
It’s funny how with your second you don’t buy nearly as much, partly because you still have things you can use and also because you know that you don’t really need that much anyway.View Post
It’s that time of year again, where we get to look back at where we’ve been this year and look forward to where we’re heading in the future. These times of reflection are one of the best parts of having a blog because it allows a record of what’s happened over the years. The older I get, the more thankful I am that I have this digital memory keeper!
Thank you so much for letting me share our heart and home with you. This year was full of the highest high (you may have heard we’re having a baby!View Post
Finally, the last little thing that needed to be checked off my To Do list has been completed in the nursery – the lucite and gold cabinet hardware is installed! I searched high and low for these babies and found them on Lux Holdups Etsy shop. And now they are doing their job, making our built-in cabinet doors and drawers both functional and gorgeous!
When I first shared our nursery with you, everything was complete, but the gorgeous hardware had yet to be installed. Those kinds of things happen when you’re trying to make a 6-week deadline for the One Room Challenge.View Post
I’m giddy with excitement, ready to show you the nursery we designed and completed in six weeks for the One Room Challenge! I wish I could just invite you over into the room so you can see for yourselves, but I know that’s impossible, so photos will have to do! You can find the full source list here!
When I last left you, the room had undergone quite a transformation with the addition of the custom built bookshelves and bench seat, fresh paint on the beadboard, walls, and stripes on the ceiling, and we had furniture. Now,View Post
You can tell summer is in full swing over here as my posts are getting later and later. My typical posting time has always been 6:00 a.m., and I’m sitting here finishing up this post at 3:45 p.m. Morning workouts and evenings where I take time off from the computer are partially to blame, but today, a swimming date with cousins won out. It’s so worth it and we’re taking advantage of the time to get together.I’m happy to report that James is doing so much better with his swimming (three weeks of lessons down, one to go), but he did wear his floaties for a bit when they were running and jumping in the pool,View Post
Less is definitely more around here lately and if you find yourself in the same boat, where energy is at a premium, you choose carefully where to spend it. I mentioned yesterday I’ve been itching to get back to more home decor and DIY projects, so our master sitting room was a perfect place to bring in a few summer touches. I lightened up the space with a touch of paint that we had on hand and changed out the accessories for the summery variety. It’s not a dramatic DIY, but it’s perfect for a fresh change with minimal effort.View Post
I almost started this post with Happy Hump Day! then I realized it’s actually Thursday, which tells me that I’m getting a case of summer brain where all the days are starting to run together. That might actually be a good thing! I’m just starting feel the stress of a rigid schedule beginning to loose it’s grip. Today, my son and I overslept for camp, but I realized, we don’t have to be there on the dot. And since I didn’t have a morning training session scheduled, we were able to linger this morning. Nice for a change! We do still have our typical summer morning and evening routines,View Post
I think we’re finally starting to dry out over here! All those days of tragic weather and storms had our city reeling for awhile, but we’re getting back to normal now. And tomorrow is the last day of school! My son came home with the big workbook he’s been practicing his handwriting in all year and declared triumphantly, “I’ve worked so hard Mom, I’m ready for kindergarten!” Man, what a cutie!

For the past several months, our family made a point to get together at my parents’ house for dinner most weekends. It was nothing fancy, and sometimes we just ordered a couple of pizzas, but the point was to spend quality time together. We let the kids run around and play in the backyard and the adults just chatted and hung out for a few hours. We are continuing to do our weekend dinners, but now we’ll start alternating houses between ours, my brother’s, and my mom’s. I wanted to make the next dinner at our house light and lively and found some perfect Spring table accessories at World Market to help set the mood.View Post
This weekend was filled to the brim celebrating our now 5-year old! I know all parents feel this way, but we are just so proud of him and delighting in the person he is becoming. Since I stay home, I’m grateful to have lots of time spent with him and made sure to include him on every decision for his party, down to the favor gifts he’d give to his friends that came to his party. I love getting his input and hearing his opinion on things. And who knows better what gifts other 5-year olds would enjoy than another 5 year old?!View Post
With school starting next week, I wanted to set up a place for my son to draw, color, practice writing, or do art. Sure, we can use the kitchen table or counter (and often do), but it would also be nice for him to have an area that doesn’t have to be “picked up” come dinner time. Decor speaking, I wanted to add a pop of RED to his navy, light blue, and white room, and I found the perfect desk for the job. Have y’all seen this World Market Red Josephine Desk before? It’s white version is popular in many home offices I’ve seen online,View Post
Last week, when World Market was having their big, annual Friends & Family sale, I stopped in and picked up a few things. I was immediately drawn to their colorful selection of outdoor entertaining goodies, like melamine plates and plastic cups. I use melamine plates daily for my protein pancakes, so a few more wouldn’t hurt, and they’re really affordable. I played around with pre-setting a colorful Spring table that I intend to use when I have some girlfriends over for lunch soon.
